The next morning, the sunlight was blinding. Yin Luo woke up from her sleep and realized that she had slept exceptionally well.
After struggling to open her eyes, she noticed that she was actually in someone else's arms. When she lifted her gaze, she met Mu Changqing's eyes. Both of them were momentarily stunned.
It was hard to believe that the two of them, who had been at odds the night before, would wake up in such an intimate position.
However, both were composed individuals. Yin Luo stood up first, and the pain in her feet hit her unexpectedly. She looked down and was slightly surprised to see that her foot was bandaged!
A piece of black cloth was wrapped around her injury, and it seemed that walking didn't hurt as much as it had the night before.
Yin Luo withdrew her gaze and looked at Mu Changqing, just in time to see him tending to the fire and roasting rabbit meat.
"We don't have much time. After we eat, someone will bring clothes over. There is a spring in the mountains; you can wash up there. Then, we will set off together," he said.
Yin Luo did not respond immediately but limped over to sit across from him. Looking at the rabbit meat sizzling in his hands, she raised an eyebrow and asked, "I have an injury. Once we reach the hunting grounds, can I skip the activities and focus on recovering?"
This was the first time she spoke to him in a tone that sought permission. Mu Changqing glanced at her and replied with a slight smile, "That's fine."
Yin Luo raised her eyebrows in surprise; she hadn't expected it to be so easy to secure a chance to rest.
After filling their stomachs, someone indeed brought clothes over—who else but He Ren and He Xin?
There were two sets of clothes in total, one for Mu Changqing and one for her. Yin Luo took her share and followed the instructions to a mountain valley, where she washed herself in the clear stream, feeling much more refreshed afterward.
Her hair was difficult to manage; she lacked the skill and hadn't yet learned any complicated hairstyles, so she simply braided it into a loose twist and tied it at her chest.
Her long black hair cascaded down to her waist, smooth and shiny, enhancing her bright and radiant appearance. At just fifteen or sixteen years old, she exuded youthful vitality that couldn't be hidden even with a change of soul.
When Yin Luo emerged from the valley after changing clothes, Mu Changqing had also donned a more luxurious outfit.
It was still the same black robe, but this time it was adorned with brocade clouds and embroidered with golden threads, exuding an extraordinary air of nobility. Her dark hair was held up with a jade hairpin, and she wore a silver-white mask that concealed her eyes, which were dark and unfathomable.
Having long been in a position of power, she commanded respect without anger, radiating an innate dominance. Especially for someone like Mu Changqing, who always wore a mask and black clothing, it added an eerie and sinister quality to her presence.
Yin Luo's fresh demeanor felt out of place among such dark figures; it was as if a flower had fallen into a pit of cattle.
When He Xin and He Ren saw that she had finished changing, they looked at Mu Changqing. She turned to glance at Yin Luo, her gaze moving away from her snow-like face to the two men, nodding slightly. "We can set off now."
He Ren hurriedly went to lead the horse, but there was only one horse available.
Mu Changqing mounted the horse first and looked toward Yin Luo, who was still standing there. She extended her hand and said, "No need to look anymore; there's only this one horse. Since you are injured, I will naturally share this ride with you. Not just today, but for the next few days, you will be acting alongside me. Can you handle it?"
