The wind shattered her voice somewhat, but Mu Changqing still heard it. His gaze darkened as he glanced down the cliff, suddenly making a decision. He struck back at the approaching assassin with one hand, flipped his body, and leaped down directly.
Yin Luo was taken aback, her body sliding down rapidly, yet the gaze of the person before her was exceptionally clear.
"Why?"
She heard her own voice, hoarse and low, even carrying a hint of tremor.
Mu Changqing held her tightly, driving his right-hand dagger into the cliff. The dagger slid down, sparking bright flashes against the cliff wall, which helped slow their descent.
"Because you are my woman, and I will not allow anyone to harm you!"
Mu Changqing held her tightly: "Hold on to me and trust me; we will not die."
Yin Luo did not speak again. She knew his right shoulder was injured, and at that moment, his right hand had to bear the weight of both their bodies, which was exhausting him. The only thing she could do was lighten his burden and keep him focused.
She wrapped her arms tightly around his waist and looked around. The night was thick, and visibility was poor, but there were many caves surrounding the cliff.
After sliding down for a long time, their descent finally halted. Yin Luo looked toward the pitch-black bottom of the cliff and ultimately decided to take a chance.
"My lord, there are many caves around here. It shouldn't be difficult to find a place to take shelter. The cliff is steep and it's dark; those above may not be able to find us. Perhaps if we hold out until dawn, someone might come to rescue us."
Mu Changqing surveyed the area and indeed spotted a small cave not far from where they were. Although it was small, it would certainly accommodate two people.
He looked at Yin Luo: "Can you?"
Yin Luo looked at the protruding rocks on the wall and nodded, saying, "Hanging here may not last until tomorrow. If we fall, it will only end in shattered bones. If we can climb into the cave, that is our only chance of survival. I believe I can do it."
Mu Changqing pondered for a moment and replied, "Alright, but we need to make a strap to prevent slipping."
Yin Luo nodded. Mu Changqing looked at her and said, "You come here; I will hold you."
He took off his outer robe, tore it into long strips, tied a knot, and ensured it was long enough to reach the cave. Yin Luo tied one end around her waist and the other around Mu Changqing's waist.
"Alright." She sighed in relief and looked at him. Mu Changqing added, "I have a dagger sheath in my arms. Use it to wedge into the crevice of the cliff as you climb."
Yin Luo nodded and took the dagger sheath from his arms. She then found a foothold and began to climb toward the cave.
In her previous life, she had done quite a bit of rock climbing during training. Although this place was different, she was bold and meticulous. After several dangerous moments, she managed to climb up successfully.
Inside the cave, she found a large rock and extended the long cloth tied around her waist a bit more, securing it to the rock while tying the other end around her waist. This effectively created a pulley system, making things much easier.
Mu Changqing began to climb up, using Yin Luo's strength to assist him, which made it much lighter for him. Eventually, he also successfully entered the cave.
He leaned against the cliff wall, seeming somewhat exhausted. Yin Luo knew he had an injury on his shoulder and quickly asked, "My lord, do you have any medicine with you?"
Mu Changqing reached into his robe for a moment and took out a medicine bottle. He directly tore open the part of his wound and sprinkled the medicine on it without making a sound. However, Yin Luo knew that applying this medicine would definitely hurt because his hand resting on his right leg clearly showed knuckles protruding as he endured the pain.
His shoulder wound had been pierced directly by a long sword, and the back of his shoulder also needed treatment.
Seeing him about to tear off the fabric from his back shoulder again, Yin Luo reached out to take the medicine bottle from his hand and said, "Let me do it."
Her fingers brushed against the fabric of his back, and she realized that his clothes were completely soaked in blood. Because of the dark fabric, Yin Luo had never noticed how severe his injuries were. Now, seeing so much blood and the deep wounds, she furrowed her brow and sprinkled medicine into the cuts. She could clearly feel Mu Changqing shudder at the sting. He quickly tore off a piece of cloth from his own garment and wrapped it around his wound.
Mu Changqing took a deep breath and, noticing her skilled movements, smirked slightly, “I didn’t expect that a princess could do this.”
Yin Luo glanced at him as she tied the cloth tightly. “I can do much more than this; there are things you wouldn’t even imagine.”
Mu Changqing studied her for a moment, narrowing his eyes as if reassessing her, his gaze lingering on her face.
Meeting his gaze, Yin Luo did not shy away and said, “He Ren and He Xin will definitely come looking for you once they realize you’re missing. However, it’s dark at night, so they might not find this place easily. You must hold on and not fall asleep; if you do, even the gods won’t be able to save you.”
Mu Changqing curled the corner of his lips and replied lightly, “Don’t worry; I’ll make it through.”
Yin Luo glanced at him again before looking outside. The wind howled fiercely, and it was pitch black; apart from the sound of the wind, there was no other noise.
They couldn’t shout for help; doing so might attract enemies instead of allies. The only option left was to wait.
Mu Changqing’s gaze lingered on Yin Luo for what felt like an eternity before he suddenly asked, “Why do you dislike me?”
Yin Luo was taken aback and turned to look at him.
Why indeed?
Was it because he was the first person she saw when she woke up? Or because he was the first one to hurt her? Or perhaps it was his constant torment that made her harbor resentment towards him?
“I never actively dislike anyone. In fact, I don’t dislike you at all; it’s just that you keep plotting against my life, and I’m merely trying to protect myself.”
Yin Luo raised her head to look at him, her gaze as calm as a ripple on water. Mu Changqing stared at her for a moment, leaning lazily against the cliff behind him. "I have not plotted your death. If I truly wanted you dead, you would not have lived even a moment longer."
Yin Luo blinked, seemingly unfazed. "You don't want me dead, yet you make my life worse than death?"
Mu Changqing's gaze flicked over to his right shoulder before returning to her. "Who exactly is living worse than death?"
Yin Luo glanced around, raising an eyebrow. "I didn't ask you to save me; you chose to do so. You can't blame me for that."
Mu Changqing paused, then unexpectedly chuckled. He rarely laughed genuinely, but this time it seemed to carry a hint of amusement. "Indeed, the most poisonous heart belongs to a woman! A thousand troops cannot compare to your sharp tongue. After years of risking my life on the battlefield without being killed, I could very well be angered to death by just one of your words."
Yin Luo's expression remained unchanged. "I speak the truth."
Mu Changqing looked at her, his gaze becoming serious. "You are truly ruthless, woman. At such a young age, I wonder where you learned such cruelty."
Yin Luo replied, "Naturally, I learned it from you. If it weren't for you, I would be living carefreely as a little princess in the palace right now!"
"Is that so? I doubt it," Mu Changqing said with a slight smirk, his smile somewhat cold. "Although the Moon Cherry Dynasty appears prosperous and its people live in peace, the treasury is already empty, and the previous dynasty was rife with conflict. If my information is correct, your father will soon marry you off to the richest man in the Moon Cherry Dynasty, Qian Mo Yu, using your dowry to replenish the national treasury."
Yin Luo remained silent; she was not Nie Qingcheng and knew nothing about the affairs of the Moon Cherry Dynasty.
Mu Changqing continued, "Even though I am at your gates with an army, I have offered ten thousand gold as your dowry. This amount is enough to revive the Moon Cherry Dynasty." He looked at Yin Luo, his eyes deep as a pool. "Ten thousand gold for a princess is the most expensive dowry in the world and worthy of your title as the first beauty of the Moon Cherry Dynasty; it is certainly worth it."
Yin Luo lowered her gaze. "So what? There is a world of difference between coercion and willingness; someone like you would never understand."
Mu Changqing curled the corners of his lips, "One day, I will make you willingly submit."
Yin Luo smiled slightly, "Then I will wait and see."
*
Time in the cave was difficult to endure, especially for Mu Changqing.
He was gravely injured and had lost a lot of blood. Although Yin Luo could not see his face, she could guess that he must be pale, as his lips had already turned frostbitten, looking extremely unappealing.
Time passed slowly; his words became fewer and fewer. Eventually, Mu Changqing stopped speaking altogether. When Yin Luo called out to him, he could only lower his eyes slightly to show that he was still conscious, estimating that not much time had passed.
Although this person's life or death had nothing to do with her, perhaps it would be better if he died, but all of that could only be put aside for the past.
Yin Luo was decisive in her actions and never hesitated, but she placed great importance on loyalty and affection.
He saved her life; out of both sentiment and reason, she owed him a life in return! Although she had just been in a situation where she didn't need him to save her and could even say that it was because of him that she fell off the cliff.
"Prince, are you still listening?"
Mu Changqing's eyes were already closed. Yin Luo reached out; although he was breathing, it was very weak, and his breath was hot!
He wore a mask, so she couldn't see his complexion; therefore, Yin Luo had no idea that he was actually running a high fever!
Her fingers touched his neck, which felt scalding hot. Yin Luo grasped Mu Changqing's shoulder and shook him gently: "Prince... Prince?"
Without any response, Mu Changqing seemed to have fallen asleep, eerily calm.
Yin Luo released her grip, intending to look outside for another way, but as soon as she removed her hand, his body suddenly collapsed. She had to support him, and at that moment, she felt the intense heat radiating from him, almost enough to roast someone alive.
If they waited any longer, he would undoubtedly die!
After laying Mu Changqing down, Yin Luo raised her gaze towards the cliff top, but there was nothing but darkness!
At this hour, the people in the military camp must have discovered the disappearance of Mu Changqing and her. As long as someone from the camp was sent out, the assassin might have already escaped!
One life for another; Mu Changqing was injured because he saved her. If her actions attracted the assassin and led to his untimely death, it would be as if she had repaid him with a life!
Once Yin Luo made up her mind, she immediately took action. She pulled out a gun from her waist, loaded two bullets, and fired three shots into the sky.
The thunderous sound echoed through the night, and soon after, movement could be heard from above the cliff. However, it was not the assassin but reinforcements.
Yin Luo watched as He Xin and He Ren worked together to bring Mu Changqing up. Finally, she let out a sigh of relief.
*
After Mu Changqing was rescued, chaos erupted in the entire camp. A dozen people stood guard outside the tent without leaving an inch. The royal physician treated Mu Changqing's wounds and informed everyone that he had only lost too much blood and would wake up after a few days of rest; there was no danger to his life. Everyone finally relaxed.
Mu Fengyan personally stood guard outside the tent. Once he learned that Mu Changqing was safe, he instructed everyone to disperse. After everyone left, he turned his gaze toward Yin Luo and asked, "Luoluo, are you injured?"
Yin Luo shook her head. "I'm fine; I just didn't meet with the emperor as promised tonight. I missed my appointment!"
Mu Fengyan shook his head, "As long as you are fine, I can rest assured. But Luoluo, who exactly is trying to kill you?"
Yin Luo shook her head, "I don't know. The people who came are all highly skilled, but they are not targeting me; they are targeting Prince Jin."
Mu Fengyan was taken aback, frowning, "Targeting my royal brother?"
He thought for a moment but couldn't figure it out. He could only slap his forehead and say, "Oh, forget it. The relationships in the court are complicated, and I can't sort them out right now. Luoluo, you've been worried all night; hurry up and get some rest. You look exhausted!"
Yin Luo touched her face and, seeing his anxious expression, nodded, "Alright."
Mu Fengyan reminded her a few more times before leaving with the palace servants, looking back three times. After he left, Yin Luo turned back to glance at the brightly lit tent before stepping inside.
Mu Changqing was still asleep, with He Ren and He Xin guarding inside. Yin Luo approached and reached out to check his neck, realizing that his fever had subsided. Only then did she feel relieved.
"Princess, go rest. We will keep watch here; you can rest assured!"
Yin Luo looked at He Ren and He Xin, nodded, and wrapped herself in her cloak as she went out.
By the time she returned to her own tent, it was already late at night. Yin Luo was tired as well. Su Yi helped her settle down to sleep and was about to extinguish the candle and leave when suddenly they heard a commotion outside.
"Step aside! I want to see Nie Qingcheng!"
The voice was sharp and piercing; there was no need to guess who it belonged to.
Su Yi raised her eyes to look at Yin Luo and said, "Ms. Qing Ge must have come because of the prince's injury. Should I tell her that the princess has already gone to rest?"
Yin Luo pulled aside the curtain and said, "No need, let her in."
Su Yi went out to convey the message, and soon Ye Qing Ge entered alone. Her face was still filled with anger. Upon seeing Yin Luo, she immediately began to scold, "You heartless woman! My cousin got injured because of you, and now he is severely wounded and unconscious. Not only are you not by his side, but you also have the nerve to sleep here! You are simply a cold-blooded animal with a heart of a snake!"
Yin Luo raised an eyebrow and looked at her. "What happens between me and the prince is our family matter. It's not for an outsider like you to interfere. If Ms. Qing Ge has come at this late hour just to say this, then please leave. I am tired and need to rest."
Ye Qing Ge's eyes seemed to blaze with fire as she replied, "You’re still sleeping? You are such a heartless woman! How can my cousin treat you so well?"
Yin Luo frowned and turned to Su Yi, saying, "See her out."
She turned back towards the bed, but Ye Qing Ge quickly blocked Su Yi and stepped forward, asking, "Tell me, how can you stay away from my cousin?"
Yin Luo paused her steps and turned back around. "What do you want to say?"
Ye Qing Ge's face flushed slightly, but she still managed to speak up. "I like my cousin; I’m sure you’ve noticed that."
Yin Luo lifted her chin and replied calmly, "That’s not a secret; everyone in the household knows."
Ye Qing Ge's face turned red again as she continued, "I can tell that you don’t like my cousin. Since that’s the case, there’s no need for you to stay by his side. Name your conditions; how can you distance yourself from him? I will do whatever I can! I can promise you a marriage with a nobleman, endless wealth for life, or even send you back to the Moon Cherry Dynasty to continue being your princess; anything is possible—just name your terms!"
After listening, Yin Luo looked at Ye Qing Ge and said, "As you mentioned, I was once a princess. What you’re offering is merely trivial for me. Do you think these are enticing conditions for me, Ms. Qing Ge?"
Ye Qing Ge was taken aback for a moment before asking, "Then what do you want?"
"I don’t want anything. Even if I did want something, Ms. Qing Ge, you wouldn’t be able to provide it."
"What is it that I can't afford? As long as you can say it, I, Ye Qing Ge, will definitely be able to do it!"
Yin Luo looked at her for a long time, then stepped forward and said slowly, "I want the Prince's heart. Can you give that?"
Ye Qing Ge was taken aback, her face instantly flushed with anger. "Nie Qing Cheng, you wicked woman! Shamelessly clinging to my cousin while clearly being with the Emperor. What are you trying to achieve?"
"I am a wicked woman!" Yin Luo replied matter-of-factly. "I find it delightful that while others strive hard for something, I can effortlessly have it in my grasp. Isn't that wonderful, Ms. Qing Ge?"
"You... you..."
Ye Qing Ge pointed at her, stammering as she struggled to catch her breath from anger. Having witnessed Yin Luo's capabilities before, she knew better than to underestimate her this time. After finally calming down, she glared at Yin Luo and said fiercely, "Since you refuse to listen to reason, just wait! I will make you pay for this!"
Yin Luo looked at her furious eyes and remained silent for a long time. Finally, she said, "Ms. Qing Ge, let me give you a piece of advice: The Prince treats you like a sister. Everyone in the household can see that he indulges you not because of any special feelings but because you are his relative and someone entrusted to him by an old friend. His care for you is a responsibility he bears, but do not mistake this responsibility for your capital to act recklessly. Otherwise, you will only drift further apart until one day you become nothing more than a stranger to him."
"Shut up! Don't spout nonsense here. I won't believe you! Just because my cousin got hurt for you doesn't mean you understand him better than I do. I've been with him for so many years; no one knows him better than I do! He cares for me not just because I'm his cousin; you wouldn't understand even if I told you!"
She glared at Yin Luo and said, "Just wait! I will make sure you can't stay in the Prince's residence."
Yin Luo lowered her gaze and replied calmly, "Since Cousin Miss insists on this, then please go ahead. I'm always ready."
Ye Qing Ge glanced at her, snorted coldly, and strode away.
Seeing her leave, Yin Luo waved at Su Yi and said, "You can go rest now; there's no need to serve here anymore."
Su Yi looked at Yin Luo and comforted her, "The Princess need not worry. Although Ms. Qing Ge has a sharp temper, she still has to consider the Prince and won't go too far."
Yin Luo curled her lips slightly and said, "It's fine. Since I advised her but she didn't listen, whatever consequences she faces in the future, even if they are caused by me, have nothing to do with me."
Su Yi looked at her back and felt that her thoughts were becoming increasingly difficult to understand. He shook his head and could only bow respectfully before leaving on his own.
Mu Changqing was injured, so he naturally couldn't participate in the upcoming hunting activities. However, because of his injury, Mu Fengyan got more opportunities to see her, which made him very happy.
The competition that day mainly involved some wealthy families and their children. Nevertheless, Mu Fengyan secretly hunted a rabbit and brought it back as a gift for Yin Luo.
Yin Luo had never been fond of kittens or puppies before, so she wasn't particularly interested in the rabbit either. However, seeing how Mu Fengyan presented it to her as if he had found a treasure, she couldn't refuse his kindness and accepted it. She then found a small cage to keep it in.
Mu Changqing woke up the next afternoon, and everything was fine after he regained consciousness.
The imperial physician used the best medicine. Although he couldn't get out of bed yet, he would be able to do so in a few days.
While he was unconscious, Yin Luo had visited him several times, but after he woke up, she hadn't gone to see him.
The day after Mu Changqing woke up, He Xin came to invite her, and Yin Luo had no choice but to visit him once again.
Because she was wearing a mask, she couldn't tell what his current condition was. However, since he had a solid foundation in martial arts, he would naturally recover without any major issues.
When Yin Luo entered the room, Mu Changqing was sitting on the couch reading an Imperial Edict, with He Ren accompanying him. Upon seeing her enter, Mu Changqing did not raise his head until he finished reviewing the Imperial Edict in his hand and handed it to He Ren. Only then did he look at Yin Luo and say, "I heard from He Xin and He Ren that day you heard a thunderous sound as if something exploded. You followed the sound to find our location. At that time, you were the only one awake. Do you know what that sound was?"
Yin Luo saw that this was the topic of their conversation upon meeting and slowly shook her head. "I heard that sound too; it was very close. It happened in an instant, and by the time I reacted, the sound had already vanished without a trace. So I don't know what happened."
Mu Changqing's gaze slightly narrowed for a moment before he withdrew his gaze and looked at He Ren beside him. "You may leave now."
He Ren and He Xin exchanged a glance and hurriedly left.
With both of them gone, only Mu Changqing and Yin Luo remained in the tent.
Mu Changqing reached out his hand towards her. Yin Luo glanced at it but did not move, simply standing there: "What does the prince want?"
"Come down and walk with me. Support me," he said, lifting the edge of the blanket and looking at Yin Luo, waiting for her to act.
Yin Luo hesitated for a moment before stepping forward, taking his arm and helping him up.
Perhaps it was due to not moving for a long time; Mu Changqing felt weak as he sank slightly. Yin Luo instinctively tightened her grip on his arm and said, "Take it slow."
Mu Changqing looked down at her and indeed slowed his pace. This time, he walked normally.
"Although I was unconscious at that time, I was not entirely unaware. That sound clearly came from our cave. Explain how you did it."
Yin Luo met his gaze but remained calm: "Are you interrogating me?"
Mu Changqing paused for a moment before replying, "I suppose so."
Yin Luo fell silent for a moment before saying, "That was merely a special signal, similar to fireworks. That's why it made that sound. It is something unique to our Moon Cherry Dynasty—a distinct distress signal. At that time, you had fainted, and I used this method to ensure someone would find us. However, since it is exclusive to the Moon Cherry Dynasty, I cannot disclose the details; I can only share this much."
Mu Changqing looked at her but did not ask further.
He let Yin Luo help him sit down in a chair and continued, "How are your injuries?"
He asked about the injuries sustained in the training ground that day, as well as the sprained ankle later on.
The sprained ankle had received good treatment, and by the third day, it miraculously had reduced swelling and was no longer painful. However, there were quite a few injuries from that day, but they were all minor bruises, so they weren't too painful.
"I've mostly recovered."
Mu Changqing nodded. "Since your injuries are nearly healed, you should move here tonight. You said you are the best at acting; you can't just do it halfway."
"Are you warning me about getting too close to the Emperor?"
"You are my princess. During my recovery, you should stay by my side without leaving me for a moment. Isn't that more affectionate?"
His tone had clearly turned colder. Yin Luo raised an eyebrow, genuinely confused. "The prince holds great power; why would he need to act for others? I'm just a minor princess and can't play any significant role. What is your purpose in doing this?"
"My matters do not allow anyone to question them."
He turned hostile faster than flipping a page of a book. Previously, he had maintained some semblance of normal conversation with her, but now that he had recovered from his illness, his old habits had returned!
Yin Luo turned her face away. "Fine, as long as your request can ensure my peace in the palace, I will naturally comply."
After saying this, she ignored Mu Changqing sitting there and directly stood up to leave.
"Where are you going?" Mu Changqing clearly did not expect her to turn hostile faster than he did.
"I'm going to get my clothes. As per your command, from today on, I will not leave your side!"
After saying that, she lifted the curtain of the tent and walked out.
Mu Changqing's expression was somewhat heavy. He Ren and He Xin felt it as soon as they entered, knowing that there must be some issues between the two of them. They wisely chose not to disturb him, but after a moment of silence, they suddenly heard Mu Changqing order, "Roast that little white rabbit for dinner, and then catch another one to put inside!"
"Uh..." What kind of order is this? He Ren and He Xin exchanged glances.
"No need for that, you two can leave."
These two commands were somewhat baffling.
He Ren and He Xin left wisely. Mu Changqing propped his forehead with his hand, feeling that this illness had really messed up his mind; he was dizzy and starting to talk nonsense!
Yin Luo was quick; before it was even dark, she had already brought over the supplies, and surprisingly, she even brought the rabbit!
Yin Luo instructed the servants to place the cage containing the rabbit down and personally took some grass to feed it, her expression focused and serious.
Mu Changqing glanced over, then turned his gaze away and said lightly, "Bring me the new Imperial Edict today; I need to review it."
Upon hearing this, Yin Luo looked around and realized that there was no one else in the tent, understanding that he was calling for her.
However, she did not follow his command to bring him the Imperial Edict. Instead, she walked over to the desk, pulled out a piece of white paper, sketched something quickly with a brush, then took the paper to the entrance and instructed He Ren, "Find someone to make this according to this drawing; the prince needs it urgently."
As soon as he heard it was for Mu Changqing's use, He Ren didn’t know what it was but dared not delay and immediately went to take care of it.
Time passed quickly; in less than half an hour, a small wooden table had already been delivered.
Yin Luo glanced at the items that had just arrived. Originally, she was going to hand the Imperial Edict back to Mu Changqing, but suddenly she tossed the Imperial Edict onto the desk, took a few steps to the door, and received a small desk from a servant.
This item was simple; any skilled craftsman could recognize it at a glance, making it easy to handle.
Mu Changqing had always been unaware of what she had drawn before, but upon seeing the completed item now, she understood immediately. She looked at Yin Luo, her eyes darkening slightly.
Yin Luo raised an eyebrow, unfolded the four legs of the desk, and placed it in front of Mu Changqing. The height, size, and width were all perfectly suitable. She then placed the unreviewed Imperial Edict in one corner of the desk and said, "Now, the prince can review the Imperial Edict in peace without being disturbed! Moreover, this satisfies the outsiders' perception of our affectionate coexistence while also alleviating our fatigue from acting—two birds with one stone!"
After finishing her words, she yawned, lay down on the bedding on the ground, wrapped herself in a quilt, turned over, and fell asleep.
Mu Changqing looked at her back and then at the mountain of Imperial Edicts piled on the small desk in front of her. Waves surged in her eyes; ultimately, she only made a heavy stroke of red ink that dripped onto the white paper with black characters of the Imperial Edict, standing out prominently.
That night, Yin Luo naturally had a good sleep. However, Mu Changqing reviewed the Imperial Edicts until late into the night. She instructed He Ren to deliver the reviewed Imperial Edicts to Mu Fengyan and handled some other matters before finally getting some rest. By then, dawn was approaching; in other words, she had hardly slept all night.
Yin Luo slept comfortably without any discomfort.
In the early morning, seeing that Mu Changqing was still resting, she did not disturb her and directly left the tent to fetch some carrots for her little rabbit.
Just as she turned past a few tents and was nearing the kitchen, someone suddenly approached her. The person wore a dark blue robe adorned with luxury; with long eyebrows reaching his temples and looking to be in his twenties, he had a sharp appearance.
Yin Luo did not recognize him and had already chosen another path to avoid him. However, upon seeing her, he followed her route and bumped into her.
"Sister Three, what a coincidence! It's nice to meet you here. May I ask where Sister Three is headed?"
Yin Luo lifted her head; she felt somewhat annoyed by this deliberate approach. Especially since this person gave her a shrewd impression at first glance—her initial impression was not good.
She glanced at the newcomer and said with a heavy gaze, "Go to the kitchen. Is Prince going too?"
He referred to her as Sister Three, naturally meaning which Prince.
The person laughed heartily, not minding Yin Luo's unfriendly words, and said, "Sister Three, don't misunderstand. It's just that Third Brother has been injured recently, and I haven't been able to visit him. I heard that Sister Three has been with Third Brother these days, so I wanted to ask how Third Brother is doing."
"He is fine. Can you move aside now?"
The person smiled again and said, "It seems Sister Three has some misunderstandings about Yun Ze. If there was anything that upset Sister Three during our first meeting, I hope you can forgive me."
Yin Luo looked up at him and said, "You mentioned it was our first meeting. You have no one around you, and I have no one around me either. How do you know I am Nie Qingcheng? This only suggests that you are either deliberately trying to get close to me or you had this planned from the beginning. I have no interest in associating with scheming people. Excuse me."
She turned and walked away from him. Mu Yunzhe suddenly reached out again, calling out to Yin Luo, seemingly wanting to grab her.
Yin Luo moved quickly, shifting her foot and turning her body to avoid his fingers, leaving only the brush of her clothing against his palm.
Mu Yunzhe watched her quickly leave, retracting his empty hand, and the smile on his face suddenly became more intriguing.
Yin Luo went to the kitchen to fetch a radish but did not find the iron cage. Upon asking, she learned that just a moment ago, Ye Qingge found the rabbit cute and asked Mu Changqing for it. By now, the rabbit was already in Ye Qingge's hands.
If it were someone else, it would be fine, but falling into Ye Qingge's hands—someone who mistreats others—Yin Luo doubted she would take good care of a rabbit.
After having Su Yi inquire about Ye Qingge's whereabouts, she hurried over.
It was a small stream flowing into a river. They stood at the junction of the stream and river water, where the clear water revealed the bottom. Ye Qingge was squatting by the riverbank with her close maidservant, their silver bell-like laughter ringing out, sounding delightful.
As they got closer, they realized that the two were squatting there because they were tormenting her little white rabbit. Not only that, but their laughter was also because of it!
The rabbit was very afraid of water, yet they kept pushing its head into the water. From a distance, the little white rabbit looked like it was on the verge of death, and a surge of unnamed anger rose in Yin Luo's heart.
This little white rabbit was given to her by Mu Fengyan, yet it was being toyed with by this girl who had no idea of the consequences. Furious, she immediately pulled out the hairpin from her head, took a couple of quick steps forward, and locked her arm around Ye Qing Ge from behind, pressing the hairpin against her neck and saying, "Give me back my little white rabbit."
Ye Qing Ge trembled at first, but upon hearing her words, she surprisingly calmed down a bit and tossed the little white rabbit towards Yin Luo, saying, "Here you go."
As she reached for the rabbit, her fingers naturally loosened. Ye Qing Ge immediately stood up and signaled to her maid beside her. The maid understood, and the two suddenly moved in unison, one on each side grabbing Yin Luo and pushing her directly into the water.
In her concern for the rabbit, Yin Luo was caught off guard and fell into the water with a splash. She quickly got up and realized that the little white rabbit in her arms had already passed away without her noticing.
Ye Qing Ge and her maid stood on the shore, laughing heartily at her drenched appearance. They pointed at Yin Luo's face and said, "It's just a rabbit! Is it really worth this? If you want more, I can have someone catch you ten or a hundred so you can fill your house with them. But are you really doing this for the rabbit? Or for the person who gave you the rabbit?"
The river wasn't deep; it only reached her chest.
Yin Luo said nothing as she cradled the rabbit and climbed back onto the shore. Seeing her get up, Ye Qing Ge quickly stepped back while saying, "I know I'm no match for you, so I definitely won't be foolish enough to let you hit me!"
With that, she pulled her maid back and ran away while glancing back at Yin Luo, laughing triumphantly like a silver bell.
