The Side Consort knew the identity of Qin Liuyuan, yet she was polite and arranged for people to escort them to the west wing to stay temporarily. For such a beautiful woman, although there was jealousy, she thought that after all, she was someone else's wife and posed no threat to her, especially since Prince Jin would arrive in Xiyu soon. However, Shen Dielan, who returned with Jun Moyu, called him "Brother Moyu" repeatedly, which made her feel displeased. Nevertheless, as the Side Consort who had long held the position of hostess, she still managed to maintain a good facade.
Shen Dielan, naive and inexperienced in worldly matters, believed that this sister was genuinely fond of her and was very enthusiastic.
However, the good times did not last long; by the third day, something happened in the backyard.
The newly tailored spring clothes were originally made for the Side Consort but somehow ended up in Shen Dielan's hands. Thinking they were hers, she put them on. However, wearing clothes that did not match her status led to ridicule and disrespect from others. Moreover, wearing the Side Consort's clothes seemed to covet her position and stirred up a big commotion in the backyard. Shen Dielan was young and naive and had no idea how to handle it. In the end, it was Jun Moyu who stepped in to resolve the situation, which calmed things down. However, after this incident, Shen Dielan realized that there were distinctions between social ranks; not everyone could interact without reservations like in a valley.
Mu Changqing arrived in Xiyu on the fifth day. After meeting with the Xiyu Emperor and mingling in the palace, he finally came to King Huai's Mansion.
When Jun Moyu brought him to the west wing, Yin Luo was admiring fish by the flower pond in the backyard. The spring water was clear, and the fish swam freely.
Hearing the noise, she turned around and immediately saw Mu Changqing standing behind Jun Moyu.
He exuded a natural kingly aura; even among a crowd, his dominance could not be concealed.
A chilling presence surrounded him; even from several meters away, it was palpable.
When Yin Luo met his gaze, his eyes were like a deep pool—impossible to read emotions. After months apart, he seemed even colder than before; looking into his eyes felt entirely unfamiliar.
Yin Luo understood why that was; she lowered her gaze and slowly stepped forward to pay her respects.
This was her first time formally greeting him in front of others.
Mu Changqing took a few steps forward to help her up. His gaze was profound as he smiled slightly at her: "It has been many days since we last met; I wonder how my beloved consort is doing?"
His fingers naturally wrapped around her slender waist. Yin Luo looked into his dark eyes and replied softly: "I am well; thank you for your concern, my lord."
"Yes, this prince has been quite worried."
Mu Changqing's smile had completely faded, and his gaze pierced into her eyes as if he could poke a hole through her.
He turned to the ambiguous-looking Jun Moyu and said, "I trouble King Huai to take care of my princess during this time. I thank you here. Fortunately, I arrived in time, so I won't disturb you any further."
Jun Moyu raised his chin in acknowledgment and waved his hand. Immediately, someone from Yin Luo's room came out with her belongings packed.
Mu Changqing glanced at it, his eyes darkening. "No need. My wife should not use someone else's things. Thank you for your kindness, King Huai!"
After saying that, he wrapped his arm around Yin Luo's waist and half-pushed, half-forced her away from King Huai's Mansion.
Outside, a carriage was ready, and He Ren and He Xin were standing outside.
Qin Liujuan followed closely behind Yin Luo and happened to see Mu Changqing directly throw Yin Luo into the carriage without any hesitation.
She gasped and was about to rush over but was stopped by He Ren and He Xin.
The two glanced at the moving carriage, shot her a look, and then ignored her as they both jumped on their horses to follow closely behind.
Qin Liujuan immediately dared not delay any longer and jumped on her horse to closely follow them.
What she didn't expect was that she thought Mu Changqing would choose to stay at the post station for a day or two. It wasn't until they passed through the city gate that they realized they were heading straight back to the Exiled Nation!
This journey took three days and nights.
Yin Luo, who had felt no discomfort during her previous trip to Xiliang, suddenly felt nauseous this time for some unknown reason.
For three days, she had thrown up countless times.
Seeing Yin Luo grow thinner and weaker, Qin Liu Yan sought out Mu Changqing to find an inn where they could rest.
The journey had exhausted three horses in just three days, which spoke volumes about the pace they had maintained.
Mu Changqing coldly watched as Yin Luo vomited bile, remaining silent. He dismounted and walked in front of her, looking down at her from his height and asked, "Are you feeling unwell? Do you need to rest?"
Yin Luo, drenched in cold sweat from vomiting, felt somewhat better with the wind blowing against her. She lifted her head to look at Mu Changqing.
He lowered himself slightly, kneeling on one knee in front of her, yet still exuding an intimidating presence.
His eyes showed no emotion as he pinched her chin, examining her gaunt face: "How did you deceive me that day? You said you would wait for me at the palace. I risked my life to keep my promise to you, but how did you treat me in return?"
"Is it hard to bear?" He coldly curled his lips into a smirk. "It should be hard; I want you to taste the bitterness of suffering!"
"He Ren, come here."
He Ren dismounted silently and walked over to Mu Changqing.
Suddenly, Mu Changqing reached out and pulled Yin Luo's arm, lifting her entirely off the ground. Then he pointed at He Ren's empty right sleeve and said, "Do you see this? This arm was lost protecting my life! It happened shortly after you left!"
Yin Luo's gaze fell on He Ren, where she noticed the sleeve of his right arm hanging limply in the air, swaying with the wind without any support.
Her eyes flickered slightly, but she remained silent.
On the other side, Qin Liu Yan was already too shocked to speak.
"Bring a horse!" Mu Changqing continued to order. He Ren immediately led his horse over, and without a word, Mu Changqing picked her up and lightly leaped onto the horse's back.
"Taking a carriage won't do, huh? Then let's ride; after all, my princess can do anything, riding is just a small matter!"
As he finished speaking, he instructed He Ren to go back to the carriage while he mounted the horse again and continued on their way.
He Xin watched from a distance, glancing at the expressionless He Ren before looking at the downcast Yin Luo. Without saying a word, she urged her horse to follow along.
As they resumed their journey, this time Yin Luo finally did not feel car sick. However, after three days of travel, she had been unable to keep any food down and had hardly eaten anything.
Once they were on horseback, Mu Changqing did not allow anyone to rest. Three more days passed; when the horses were exhausted, they would switch them out. They never stopped along the way; when they needed to eat, they would take a brief moment to rest before continuing on without day or night.
Yin Luo's health had already been poor, and such torment was unbearable for her. Thus, as they traversed a mountain path, she suddenly fell from her horse and fainted.
The journey had to come to a halt.
Mu Changqing picked her up and placed her on his horse's back as they made their way to the nearest inn to rest.
It was rare to have a soft bed, which felt incredibly comfortable.
After Qin Liujuan fed Yin Luo some rice porridge, she fell back into a deep sleep. Meanwhile, in the main hall, Mu Changqing sat before a table full of dishes but could not eat a single bite. He drank heavily and radiated an aura of hostility.
The other guests who had been dining nearby sensed something unusual about him and quickly moved away. He Ren and He Xin remained silent at his side, while Qin Liujuan was filled with worry.
This wild storm seemed like it was just the beginning!
Due to Yin Luo's condition, the group had no choice but to pause their journey and rest for a day at the inn.
After Mu Changqing finished dinner, he went upstairs to Yin Luo's room.
This was a direct order from him; he and Yin Luo were husband and wife, naturally sharing the same room.
Yin Luo was in a daze, feeling as if she had a fever. When she opened her eyes, her head felt heavy, and when she tried to call out, her voice sounded foreign, lacking any strength.
Hearing the sound of the door opening, she struggled to turn her head. In her blurry vision, she saw a mask that looked terrifying and fierce.
In this world, who else but Mu Changqing could wear such a terrifying mask?
His figure was slightly askew, and Yin Luo thought it was just because she was dizzy. She touched her head and looked at him, saying, "Prince... Prince..."
As soon as the words left her mouth, she realized her voice sounded like a mosquito.
She reached out her hand and murmured, "Water..."
But Mu Changqing clearly ignored her. As he approached, he directly grasped her hand, holding her wrist tightly and said, "Aren't you good at escaping? Why don't you escape? Escape from my side, escape from Exiled Nation. But do you think that this way I won't be able to catch you? To blow you up? Nie Qingcheng, you truly have a cruel heart. Do you know how much it hurt me to hear the news of your death? I thought you were dead and went mad looking for Ganlin, but... what was the result? A letter from a carrier pigeon told me that you were in Yanzhi Town, safe and sound beside my sworn enemy Xiyu King Huai Jun Moyu..."
"I have never been moved in this life but have been hurt to such an extent by you! Nie Qingcheng, is your heart really made of iron? Have I treated you poorly? Whatever you want, I will give it to you! Even if you want the stars in the sky, I would gladly pluck them down for you. But... what about you?" His voice was hoarse and low, as if filled with sorrowful sobs that struck at her heart.
