Suddenly, she seemed to think of something, lowered her gaze to the nearby Mu Fengyan, closed her eyes, and responded to him.
Mu Fengyan was taken aback for a moment, then relaxed his grip on her, embraced her, and kissed her back.
Jinghao was waiting for this moment. With a swift motion, he struck Mu Fengyan on the back of the neck, causing the person to stiffen instantly and then become motionless.
With a push of his strength, Mu Fengyan rolled off her and lay beside her, unconscious.
She stood up, took off his outer robe, covered him with it, and looked at his sleeping face, exhaling a sigh of relief.
Looking down at her chest, her clothes were in tatters. She glanced around; this was Mu Fengyan's palace, and there were no other clothes to cover herself with. However, she could not go out like this. After thinking for a moment, she wrapped herself in Mu Fengyan's outer robe and walked to the palace door. She opened it slightly and said to Li An De at the entrance, "Li Gonggong, the Emperor is asleep. Could you please arrange for someone to bring me a piece of clothing?"
Li An De heard the noise and peeked in. Seeing Jinghao and hearing what she said, his gaze fell on her clothes and the open collar.
The torn clothing was indeed distinctive; he noticed it at a glance. He instructed a palace servant behind him, and soon after, the clothing Jinghao requested was delivered.
"Thank you very much, Gonggong!"
After changing into the new clothes and leaving, Jinghao expressed her gratitude at the door. Li An De looked at her several times and thought that she was just an unremarkable maid. What was going on with the Emperor? Was he so desperate? Just moments ago, another maid had entered the palace, and now another one came; he wondered what he was thinking.
But how could he guess the Emperor's thoughts?
Li An De replied and intended to let her go but thought for a moment and asked, "Which palace are you from?"
Jinghao lowered her head respectfully: "I am from Xiuan Palace; I am a newly arrived Palace Maid."
Li An De acknowledged her response, and only then did Jinghao leave.
Li An De watched her retreating figure; although it was graceful, her looks were quite ordinary. He pondered for a moment before pushing the door back inside. In the inner hall, Mu Fengyan was sleeping soundly without any unusual signs. He felt relieved and then exited.
Back at Xiuan Palace for only a short while, a palace servant came to pack Huairui's belongings.
The newly entered Palace Maids watched as Huairui suddenly became a master overnight, their eyes filled with envy. They asked Jinghao, "Jinghao, you entered the palace together, quickly tell us what happened?"
Jinghao smiled slightly and said, "Huairui has indeed walked through the gates of hell and returned; it's already a stroke of luck for her to become a master. You all should refrain from asking too much."
She went about her own business, and a few Palace Maids looked at her retreating figure and said, "Hmph, what's there to be proud of? She just served in the palace once. Others who went with her have also become masters; what about her? I heard she even helped the Emperor back to the palace, but in the end, she gained nothing."
"Shh, keep your voice down. With her looks compared to Huairui's, she's far behind. No wonder she wasn't chosen. In this palace, being beautiful is the way to succeed. With her appearance, she'll just be a Palace Maid for life!"
The two Palace Maids continued their gossip for a while before returning to their tasks.
After Jinghao finished tidying up herself, she left the bathhouse as if the people they were talking about had nothing to do with her; she didn't take it to heart at all.
Early the next morning, Aunt Hua gathered all the palace servants together. Because of the incident last night where Huairui knocked over a dish, she lectured everyone for the entire morning, teaching them that when serving their masters, they must do so wholeheartedly without any negligence.
Under the blazing sun all morning, no one dared to rest. Just as Aunt Hua finished speaking and was about to dismiss everyone, she suddenly noticed someone standing outside Xiuan Palace. Aunt Hua was startled, and several responsible palace servants turned pale with fear and hurriedly went forward to pay their respects.
Mu Fengyan stood at the entrance, still in his court attire as if he had just come down from court. Behind him followed a group of palace servants who were waiting outside because the Emperor had not yet entered.
His expression was unpredictable as his gaze swept over the group of Palace Maids before finally landing on one person.
As Aunt Hua and others approached to pay their respects, he ignored them completely and walked directly toward one of the Palace Maids.
Li An De followed behind quietly and glanced up; he was looking for none other than the Palace Maid who had served him last night!
Mu Fengyan reached Jinghao's side and circled around her. Jinghao stood still, observing with her eyes focused on her nose and her nose on her heart as if the person examining her had nothing to do with herself until Mu Fengyan stopped in front of her and lifted her chin.
He raised her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze.
Seeing that there was no way to avoid it, Jinghao directly spoke up: "This servant pays respects to Your Majesty."
Mu Fengyan raised the corners of her lips and said, "Is it a greeting? But what if I am not well? I don't even know where this mischievous little cat came from. Last night, it scratched my neck, and now it hurts. This Palace Maid, what do you think? Shouldn't such a naughty cat be taken out and dealt with to relieve my anger?"
The latter part of her words was almost spat out through clenched teeth, her breath hitting the maid's face.
Jinghao raised her eyebrows and said, "Cats are usually gentle. It seems that perhaps the Emperor did something he shouldn't have, which caused the cat to behave unusually and scratch you."
"Is that so? Did I do something I shouldn't have?"
In front of everyone, Mu Fengyan showed no regard and directly reached out to support Jinghao's lower back, pressing her down towards herself. In such close proximity and with such an action, the palace attendants were left dumbfounded, especially those who had looked down on Huairui earlier; they were speechless at this scene.
Aunt Hua, being an elder in the palace, quickly stepped forward to greet, "Your Majesty, this Palace Maid is named Jinghao. She entered the palace over a month ago. May I ask if she has done anything wrong to offend you?"
"Offend me?" Mu Fengyan smirked and suddenly released her grip, looking at Jinghao. "No, I just find her pleasing to the eye. How about this: starting today, you will be responsible for attending to me in Qinghua Palace. From now on, you will take care of my daily needs."
Jinghao raised her eyes, her expression unchanged.
Aunt Hua quickly responded, "Yes, your servant obeys. I will instruct someone to send Jinghao's belongings to Qinghua Palace."
"No need for that. Li An De, you handle these matters." Although he was instructing others, his gaze remained fixed on Jinghao. After giving his orders, he leaned closer to Jinghao, saying, "As for you, come with me to Qinghua Palace now because I need to take a nap, and you must serve me!"
He turned and left. Jinghao stood there while Li An De hurriedly urged her, "What are you still standing there for? Do you dare defy the Emperor's orders? Hurry up and follow!"
Lowering her gaze, Jinghao bowed slightly and replied, "Yes."
Seeing that Jinghao followed along, Li An De immediately instructed Aunt Hua, "Flower Fairy, there’s no need for me to say more about the remaining matters?"
Aunt Hua quickly bowed and said, "Rest assured, my lord. I will have someone pack Jinghao's clothes properly and send them to Qinghua Palace."
After receiving her response, Li An De hurriedly left to catch up with everyone.
Upon arriving at Qinghua Palace, Mu Fengyan stretched out her hand with her hands on her hips and turned around to look at everyone: "Except for this new Palace Maid, all of you may leave. Remember, whatever happens, no one is allowed to enter!"
Li An De glanced at Jinghao and waved his hand, prompting everyone to retreat immediately. At the end, he said to Mu Fengyan, "If the Emperor has any matters, you must call for us!"
From his personal intuition, he always felt that Jinghao was not simple, and it seemed that his Emperor was clearly not a match for her. However, this was just an instinct; the truth would be revealed after today.
She closed the door behind her, and the hall fell silent. Mu Fengyan took two steps forward to stand in front of Yin Luo. Looking at her pale face, he lowered his head and leaned closer to her, saying, "Daring to strike me, do you not want to live anymore?"
Jinghao looked up at him and replied, "Does the Emperor remember what happened last night? If it weren't for the Emperor offending me first, I would never have acted."
"Offend? You say I offended you?" Mu Fengyan seemed to hear a great joke and laughed loudly three times. Then his gaze fell, and he lowered his head to pinch her chin. "A joke! All the women in this Harem are prepared for me. Whatever woman I desire, how could we even talk about offense?"
"Don't say I haven't taken you; even if I wanted you now, no one in this palace would dare to say a word against it! Do you believe it? Right now, as long as I don't speak, absolutely no one would dare to come in here and disturb us. And even if you scream at the top of your lungs, no one will come to save you!"
He moved closer, and Jinghao retreated until she was backed against the carved pillar, with nowhere else to go.
Jinghao raised her eyes to look at Mu Fengyan and said, "What rights does the Emperor have besides wanting women? The Emperor is merely flaunting power in this Harem; before Jin Wang, doesn't the Emperor still have to obey everything?"
"What did you say?" Mu Fengyan's expression changed instantly as he stared at her.
