Explanation of the Poem: 0
This poem, written by Tang Dynasty poet Wang Changling, expresses the deep longing and subtle regret of a young wife whose husband is away on an expedition or seeking an official position. 0
"In the boudoir, the young wife knows not sorrow": This line describes a young wife in her chamber who initially feels no sadness; "young wife" refers to a married woman in her youth. 0
"On a spring day, she adorns herself atop the emerald tower": In spring, after carefully dressing up, the wife ascends a beautifully decorated tower; "adorns herself" indicates meticulous preparation, while "emerald tower" describes the beauty and splendor of the building. 0
"Suddenly, she sees the willows by the roadside turning green": Suddenly, she notices the willows along the path sprouting fresh green leaves, and the breath of spring evokes her emotions; "by the roadside" refers to the edge of the path. 0
"Regretting that she urged her husband to seek a title": The final line conveys her feelings of regret; she laments having encouraged her husband to leave home in pursuit of fame and fortune, with "seeking a title" referring to pursuing official rank and honor. 0
The entire poem conveys complex emotions through the depiction of the wife's experience on a spring day and her inner feelings—support for her husband's ambitions intertwined with deep longing and hidden regret over his absence. The language is concise yet emotionally rich, making it one of Wang Changling's representative works on Boudoir Longing. 0

Story Title: Xiaoling's Spring Adventure 0

Warm sunlight bathes this town, and beautiful flowers bloom vibrantly in spring. I donned my new clothes and happily followed my mother to town. Passing by an elegant small building, I noticed that the willow trees beside it had sprouted tender green buds, full of life. Looking at this familiar scene, I couldn't help but feel a wave of emotion. My mother once told me the story of Boudoir Longing; she described a young woman leaning by the window waiting for her husband to return home, and I felt a twinge of sadness. Now, after many years, I once again saw that woman leaning by the window. 0

“Mother, it's Boudoir Longing!” I exclaimed joyfully as I pointed at the woman by the window and turned to look at my mother. 0

But I found that there was no expression on her face; she simply nodded slightly. I felt a bit disappointed, but I was quickly captivated by the beautiful scenery in front of me. My mother held my hand and slowly walked towards the town's market. Along the way, I saw many beautiful flowers and busy people. Their faces were filled with smiles, which made me feel happy too. 0

"Xiaoling, look, this is a Canna flower," my mother said, pointing to a plant. I gazed at the bright red flowers and felt a surge of joy in my heart. "Mom, this flower is really beautiful." "Yes, this flower symbolizes wealth and good fortune; it's one of our local specialties," my mother explained with a smile. 0

As we walked, my mother introduced me to many beautiful flowers and some local products. I listened intently, feeling even more admiration for her. Before I knew it, we had arrived at the market. The market was bustling with people, lively and vibrant. I excitedly looked around, my heart filled with curiosity. 0

"Xiaoling, don't run around; there are too many people here, and you might get lost," my mother reminded me as she held my hand tightly. I nodded and carefully stayed by her side. We wandered through the market for quite a while; my mother bought me some delicious snacks and a new toy. I was very happy and played with the toy all the way. 0

"Xiaoling, it's time to go home," my mother said as she looked at the sky. I nodded and reluctantly followed her away from the market. On our way home, we passed by that small building again. This time, the woman leaning by the window was gone. I felt a bit disappointed but then thought that perhaps she had finally met her husband, which made me happy for her. 0

My mother held my hand and told me many stories about this town along the way. I was fascinated and developed a deeper affection for this beautiful town. "Mom, why do you think that young woman would regret it?" "Because although she hopes her husband will succeed, she also wishes he could be by her side." 0

Listening to my mother's words, I began to imagine myself as that woman's child, with my father far away searching for treasure and not returning home for a long time. If I were that woman's child, I would surely think, "How wonderful it would be if my father were at home." 0

I wish he could be by my side, playing with me, reading with me, and eating with me. But I also feel proud of him. He left us to seek treasures for the sake of this family, to provide a better life for my mother and me. I believe I can understand his feelings and will support him. 0

"Xiaoling, do you know? No matter where you go or what difficulties you encounter, as long as there is love in your heart, home will never be far away." My mother's gentle voice echoed in my ears. I nodded, feeling a warm current surge within me. "Mother, I understand." 0

My mother and I continued walking through the small town, feeling the breath of spring. The sunlight spilled onto the streets, making the entire town feel warm and cozy. "Mother, what is home?" I asked curiously. 0

"Home is where family is; it is a place for emotional connection. No matter where family members are, as long as there is love in your heart, home will never be far away," my mother said with a smile. I lowered my head thoughtfully. 0

I think I am beginning to slowly understand the true meaning of home. It does not depend on whether there is a specific house or how many relatives are present; it lies in the emotional bonds between family members. As long as there is love, home is right beside us. 0

I believe I have grasped this concept. My mother and I continued walking through the small town, admiring the beautiful scenery and enjoying each other's company. The spring sunshine was warm, the spring scenery was beautiful, and the breath of spring was intoxicating. 0

I think I will always remember this spring afternoon when my mother held my hand and showed me the beauty of this small town. I will always remember that home is a place filled with love; no matter where family members are, kinship will always keep them closely connected. 0
