One day, a messenger arrived at Little Jia Yi's residence with a handwritten letter from the king. The messenger handed the letter to Little Jia Yi and said, "His Majesty the King invites you to the palace for dinner tonight."
Little Jia Yi took the letter, feeling both honored and a bit nervous. He didn't know what questions the king might ask him, but he sensed this was a rare opportunity.
He opened the letter and read it carefully. It stated: "Dear Mr. Jia Yi, I have heard that you are a very intelligent and wise person. I would like to meet with you to hear your thoughts and insights. If you have time, could you join me for dinner tonight?"
Little Jia Yi felt delighted but also somewhat anxious. He knew the king was an important figure, and he was unsure of what questions the king might pose or how he should respond. Nevertheless, he decided to accept the king's invitation and prepare to meet him.
Little Jia Yi began to think deeply, organizing his thoughts on what he considered most important to share with the king while also preparing answers for potential questions.
When dinner time arrived, Little Jia Yi mustered his courage and stepped into the palace. He entered the banquet hall and saw the king.
The king smiled at him and gestured for him to sit beside him.
After sitting down, Little Jia Yi greeted the king: "Your Majesty, thank you for inviting me to dinner."
The king nodded with a smile: "You're welcome, Mr. Jia Yi. I have heard that you are a very intelligent and wise person, and I would like to talk with you."
Though Little Jia Yi felt nervous, he gathered his courage and shared his views with the king.
"Your Majesty, I believe that for a country to prosper, several factors are necessary. First, the country needs excellent leaders who can make the right decisions. Second, it requires hardworking citizens who can strive to create wealth. Finally, a good education system is essential for providing knowledge and improving people's quality."
The king listened attentively, pondering for a moment before asking, "So, Mr. Jia Yi, what do you think we need to do in order to make our country even more prosperous?"
Little Jia Yi thought for a moment and replied, "Your Majesty, I believe we need to continuously explore, try new things, and make adjustments. We need to understand the development trends of the world and learn from the experiences and lessons of other countries. We must cultivate more outstanding talents to contribute to the development of our nation."
The king was very pleased with Little Jia Yi's response. He found Little Jia Yi's insights remarkable and expressed his high admiration. "Mr. Jia Yi, you speak very well! I truly appreciate your perspective. You are indeed a clever and wise person."
That evening, Little Jia Yi arrived at the palace as promised. The king warmly welcomed him. In the bright palace, the king and Little Jia Yi sat on soft cushions and began their conversation. The king looked at Little Jia Yi and smiled as he asked, "Mr. Jia Yi, I have heard that you are a very knowledgeable person. I would like to ask you a few questions."
Little Jia Yi quickly waved his hand and said, "Your Majesty, you flatter me; I only know a little." The king chuckled and asked, "Then let me ask you a question: Why do stars shine?"
Little Jia Yi thought for a moment and answered, "Stars shine because they have their own heat sources. They generate immense heat and light radiation internally, which is why they twinkle in the night sky." The king nodded in satisfaction after hearing this. He then asked, "So why does the moon have phases?"
Little Jia Yi patiently explained, "The phases of the moon are caused by its orbit around the Earth. When the moon orbits the Earth, it does not emit light on its own but reflects sunlight. Because the moon is spherical in shape, we see different amounts of light from it at different angles, resulting in its changing phases."
The king was very satisfied with this explanation; he felt that Little Jia Yi was indeed a very knowledgeable and wise person. But suddenly, the king changed the subject and asked, "So, Mr. Jia Yi, what are your thoughts on ghosts and spirits?" This question caught Little Jia Yi off guard; he had not expected the king to ask such a thing.
But soon, he adjusted his mindset and replied, "Your Majesty, I am not very clear about matters concerning ghosts and gods. However, I believe that as a leader, we should not focus our energy on these elusive things. We should pay attention to the suffering of the people, help them solve their problems, and ensure that everyone can live a happy life. That is what we should be doing."
After listening, the king pondered for a moment and then sighed deeply. "Mr. Jia Yi, you are right. I have always neglected the needs of the people; I only cared about my own power and status. But now I understand that I should pay more attention to the lives of the people and govern the country better."
Little Jia Yi smiled with relief after hearing this. He felt that his visit to the palace was not in vain. He witnessed the king's awakening and change, and he believed that this country would surely become a better place in the future.
