Chen Kai was taken aback, seemingly not expecting my sudden outburst of anger.
I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down, and then looked directly into Chen Kai's eyes, speaking each word clearly: "Chen Kai, I know you look down on me, but let me tell you, I will not give up. I will prove to you that I am not someone you can manipulate at will!"
After saying that, I turned and left Chen Kai's office, slamming the door behind me.
I returned to my workstation, filled with anger and frustration. I knew that Chen Kai was deliberately trying to undermine me; he didn't want me to complete this project at all.
"Damn it!" I gritted my teeth, overwhelmed by a sense of helplessness.
Just then, my phone suddenly rang.
I picked it up and glanced at the screen; it was an unfamiliar number.
After hesitating for a moment, I answered the call.
"Hello, who is this?"
"Hello, may I speak to... Mr.?" A sweet female voice came from the other end.
"This is he. May I ask who you are?"
"I am Lin Xiaoxue."
My heart skipped a beat, and I tightened my grip on the phone.
"Xiaoxue? How did you…"
"I have something I want to discuss with you. Can you meet me?" Lin Xiaoxue's voice sounded somewhat downcast.
I paused for a few seconds, then took a deep breath and replied, "Alright, just tell me the location."

"Okay, I'll wait for you at our usual café," Lin Xiaoxue's voice carried a hint of pleading.
I hung up the phone, my mind in turmoil. Why did Lin Xiaoxue suddenly want to meet? What did she want to say? Had she had a fight with Chen Kai? A series of questions swirled in my head.
I grabbed my coat, quickly left the office, and hailed a taxi, giving the driver the name of the café.
Twenty minutes later, the taxi stopped in front of the café. I paid the fare and walked straight inside.
There weren't many people in the café, and I spotted Lin Xiaoxue sitting in a corner right away. She was wearing a beige trench coat, her long hair cascading over her shoulders, and she had light makeup on, looking pitiful.
"Xiaoxue," I said softly as I sat down across from her.
Lin Xiaoxue looked up, her eyes red as if she had just been crying. She forced a smile and said, "You came."
"You..." I hesitated, unsure of what to say.
"I'm sorry," Lin Xiaoxue lowered her head, her voice choked with emotion, "I... I know I was wrong."
I was taken aback, looking at Lin Xiaoxue in confusion. What did she mean by that? Did she regret it?
"I... I shouldn't have left you," Lin Xiaoxue raised her head, tears streaming down her face again, "I... I was deceived by him!"
"Him?" I frowned, a sense of foreboding creeping in.
"Chen Kai!" Lin Xiaoxue gritted her teeth and said, "He has been using me all along!"
"Use you?" A heaviness settled in my heart. "What did he use you for?"
"He... he made me monitor you, to pry information from you, and he even..." Lin Xiaoxue's voice broke as she spoke.
I took a deep breath, forcing myself to calm down. "Take your time and tell me what happened."
Lin Xiaoxue looked up at me with tear-filled eyes and slowly recounted the events.
It turned out that Chen Kai had long been dissatisfied with me; he was always looking for an opportunity to undermine me. He exploited Lin Xiaoxue's feelings for me, making her his spy to watch my every move. He even deliberately created opportunities for Lin Xiaoxue to extract my work information, which he then claimed as his own, and even... framed me!
"Why... why would he do this?" I clenched my fists, a fire of anger burning within me.
"Because he's jealous of you!" Lin Xiaoxue cried. "He thinks you're more talented than him, that you work harder, and he's afraid you'll take everything away from him!"
Suddenly, my phone rang, breaking the oppressive atmosphere in the café. I pulled it out and saw it was a call from my boss.
"Hello, boss."
"Where are you? Get to the office right now! Something big has happened!" My boss's voice was filled with urgency.
I hung up the phone, a sense of foreboding rising within me. "It seems something has gone wrong at the company; I need to hurry back."
I stood up and turned to leave, but Lin Xiaoxue grabbed my arm.
"Be careful!" Lin Xiaoxue looked at me with concern.
I patted her hand reassuringly, signaling her not to worry, then rushed out of the café without looking back. I hailed a taxi and headed straight for the company.
All the while, Lin Xiaoxue's words echoed in my mind along with my boss's anxious tone. I had a strong feeling that this was all part of Chen Kai's scheme!
The taxi stopped in front of the company, and I quickly paid the fare before rushing into the building.
As the elevator doors opened, I hurriedly stepped out and immediately saw the company leader standing at my office door, looking furious.
"What's wrong?" I asked anxiously as I approached the leader.
Taking a deep breath, the leader said in a low voice, "The project... has a major issue!"
"What?" A sense of foreboding washed over me. "How could this happen? I've been pushing the project forward according to schedule, and everything was fine during yesterday's tests..."
"What good is it to say that now?!" The leader slammed his hand on the table, scattering documents everywhere. His anger felt like it was about to consume me. "The client called early this morning to complain that our system has a serious malfunction, resulting in significant data loss for them!"
I forced myself to calm down and quickly walked to my desk, opening my computer to check the project logs and code. My fingers flew over the keyboard as lines of code cascaded before my eyes like a waterfall.
The leader paced anxiously around the office, his dress shoes clicking against the floor with a rapid "tap-tap," echoing like a drumbeat in my chest.
"Have you found the cause?" The leader asked sternly as he approached me from behind.
"I'm still checking..." I felt beads of sweat forming on my forehead, my gaze fixed intently on the computer screen, afraid of missing any detail.
At that moment, Chen Kai walked in, wearing a barely noticeable smug smile. He approached the leader and feigned concern, asking, "What happened?"
The leader pointed at me angrily and said, "Chen Kai, look at what you've done! How could there be such a huge mistake in the project?!"
Chen Kai put on an innocent expression and turned to me with a surprised tone, asking, "What’s going on? Did something go wrong at some stage?"
I suddenly looked up, my gaze fixed intensely on Chen Kai. From his evasive eyes, I saw the truth of the matter.
“Chen Kai, stop pretending!” I stood up abruptly, pointing at his nose and shouting, “The faulty code for the project was sent to me by you last night. You swapped my code, which caused the system crash!”
“You're talking nonsense!” Chen Kai denied vehemently, but there was a hint of panic in his tone. “I was working overtime last night and didn’t touch your code at all!”
“You know whether or not it was you!” I threw the code file in front of him. “Take a look for yourself; is this code yours?”
Chen Kai frantically flipped through the code file, his face growing increasingly pale.
The office fell silent, everyone holding their breath, waiting for Chen Kai's explanation.
“I…” Chen Kai opened his mouth but didn’t know what to say.
“Enough!” The company leader shouted angrily, stopping this farce. “I will get to the bottom of this. If I find out who is behind this, I will not let it go lightly!”
With that, the company leader turned and left the office, leaving me with Chen Kai and a mess of scattered documents.
“Chen Kai, just wait!” I said through gritted teeth, my eyes filled with anger and disdain.
Chen Kai said nothing; he merely shot me a cold glance before turning and leaving the office.
I knew this was just the beginning; a war without smoke had only just begun. I had to find evidence to expose Chen Kai's true nature and seek justice for myself!
I took a deep breath, forcing myself to calm down, then began organizing my thoughts and looking for a strategy.
At that moment, a hand gently patted my shoulder.
“Don’t worry, I believe in you,” Su Wan's voice whispered in my ear like warm sunlight on a winter day, dispelling the gloom in my heart.
I turned to look at Su Wan. Her gaze was firm and warm, giving me endless strength.
"Thank you, Su Wan," I said gratefully.
"We're friends, aren't we?" Su Wan smiled slightly. "Don't worry, I'll help you."
I nodded, feeling a surge of emotion and hope. I knew that no matter what happened, I would face it bravely because I wasn't alone; I had friends by my side.

I opened my phone and scrolled through the recent chat history with Chen Kai, trying to find any clues. Su Wan pulled over a chair and sat beside me to help analyze it together.
"Look at this message," Su Wan pointed at a line on the screen. "Chen Kai asked you to modify the database interface, but the address he provided in the document is wrong. It's clearly an attempt to mislead you."
"That's right," I frowned. "But I was in a rush to complete the task and didn't double-check; I submitted the modified code directly."
I ran my fingers through my hair in frustration. If only I had been more cautious back then, I wouldn't have fallen into Chen Kai's trap.
"Don't be discouraged," Su Wan comforted me. "As long as we find evidence that he deliberately set you up, we can prove your innocence."
"But all I have are these chat records, which don't directly prove that he maliciously altered the document."
I leaned back in my chair, feeling hope slipping away.
"Wait," Su Wan suddenly sat up straight, her eyes brightening. "Do you remember the last time we helped the marketing department with data analysis?"
"I remember. Why?" I looked at her in confusion.
"I remember Chen Kai was there too; it seems he even looked at the code you wrote," Su Wan said, quickly searching through the photos on her phone.
"Yes, that did happen, but I recall he only glanced at it briefly. He probably didn't notice those details," I replied.
"Better safe than sorry. Let's find the records from that time first," Su Wan ignored my doubts and continued to rummage through her phone.
"I found it!" Su Wan exclaimed excitedly, holding her phone out to me.
In the photo, I was sitting in front of my computer debugging code, while Chen Kai stood behind me, his eyes intensely focused on the screen.
"What does this photo prove?" I asked, feeling even more confused.
"Look at his expression; it clearly shows he discovered something secret," Su Wan pointed at Chen Kai's eyes in the photo, speaking with certainty.
I examined the photo closely. Chen Kai's gaze did seem unusual, but could one photo really serve as evidence that he was framing me?
"I know what you're worried about," Su Wan seemed to read my thoughts. "While this photo may not directly prove anything, it at least indicates that Chen Kai was very interested in your code and had the opportunity to access your computer at that time."
"You mean..." A sudden realization hit me, and I jumped up. "Are you saying he might have secretly modified my code while I wasn't paying attention?"
"Exactly. This is just my speculation, but it's not impossible," Su Wan also stood up, her gaze steady on me. "As long as we can find evidence of him modifying the code back then, we can completely expose his true nature."
"But so much time has passed; can we still find evidence?" I hesitated.
"There's no time to waste; let's go check the surveillance footage at the company!" Su Wan said as she grabbed her coat and headed out.
I paused for a moment before quickly following her.
The company was empty, with only the surveillance room's light still on. We explained our purpose to the security guard, who then pulled up the surveillance footage from that day.
The surveillance footage showed that Chen Kai indeed lingered at my computer for a while after I left my seat.
"Now!" I exclaimed, pointing at the screen with excitement.
In the video, Chen Kai was sneaking around my computer, a barely noticeable smirk on his face.
"This video is the evidence we need!" I clenched my fists, filled with the joy of victory.
Early the next morning, I took the video to the company leadership.
"Boss, I've uncovered the truth about what happened. Please take a look," I said firmly as I handed the video over.
The company leader watched the video intently, and his expression turned grim.
"Chen Kai, do you have anything to say?" he asked angrily.
Chen Kai stood to the side, pale and silent.
"You are fired!" the company leader declared without hesitation. "Someone with your corrupt character does not deserve to stay in our company!"
Chen Kai lowered his head and left the office dejectedly.
As I watched Chen Kai's lonely figure walk away, I felt no sympathy—only a sense of satisfaction from avenging myself.
