The relationship between Yan Weila and Yan Jien is quite complex. Initially, when she learned that Yan Jien was moving in, she indeed approached him with the intention of flirting. However, as time went on, Yan Jien helped her out a lot, even driving away her ex-husband, which gradually changed her perception of him.
Especially after that night when they got drunk and had a one-night stand, her feelings for Yan Jien became even more complicated. On one hand, she thought Yan Jien was a reliable man and really wanted to marry him. On the other hand, she felt that since she had been married and had a child, she was not worthy of him.
While she was struggling with these feelings, Yan Jien brought Tong Liya home. Yan Weila took a glance and felt a pang in her heart. However, when she saw the necklace around Tong Liya's neck, she instantly understood that she could never compete with Tong Liya. Thus, she decided to give up.
The next day, she left with Dou Dou because she didn't want to make things awkward between herself and Yan Jien. Yet, she ultimately couldn't let go of Dou Dou. After thinking it over, she decided to return to Nanquan City. She explained her reasons to Yan Jien and rented another apartment, which is where she currently lives.
Seeing that she was determined to leave, Yan Jien didn't try to persuade her to stay and agreed instead. Worried that Dou Dou might run around again, Yan Weila gave a key to her apartment to Yan Jien so he could take care of Dou Dou from time to time. Yan Jien agreed, thinking how adorable Dou Dou was.
That’s how things unfolded.

When Tong Liya returned home, she saw Yan Weila mopping the floor. She was immediately stunned, her face filled with shock.
Yan Weila noticed her return and greeted her with a smile: "You're back?"
Tong Liya nodded blankly. After a while, she finally reacted: "Sister Yan, what are you doing here?"
"Oh, I'm Xiao Yan's neighbor," Yan Weila explained. "He used to help me out, and my daughter often plays at his place, so I have a key to his house and occasionally come over to help clean."
Hearing this, Tong Liya was completely taken aback. She never expected that Yan Weila would be Yan Jien's neighbor—and that she had come in with a key.
A woman entering another man's house with a key to clean... this seemed rather unusual.
Tong Liya looked at Yan Weila suspiciously; what exactly was her relationship with Yan Jien?
Noticing Tong Liya's guarded expression, Yan Weila's eyes twinkled as she cheerfully asked: "Liya, what is your relationship with Xiao Yan now?"
"I... We..." Tong Liya hesitated for a moment, gritted her teeth, and said, "We are dating."
"Really?" Yan Weila feigned surprise and said, "So that means I should call you sister-in-law from now on?"
"No... No need..." Tong Liya waved her hands repeatedly.
"Hehe, Liya, don't be nervous," Yan Weila smiled at her. "I was just joking."
"I... I know..." Tong Liya said softly.
"By the way, does your mother know about your relationship?" Yan Weila asked.
"My mother... has passed away..." Tong Liya's expression darkened.
"Ah?" Yan Weila's mouth dropped open. "I'm sorry, I didn't know..."
"It's okay," Tong Liya shook her head.
"What about your father?" Yan Weila asked again.
"I've never met my father," Tong Liya said quietly.
"I see..." Yan Weila looked at her sympathetically. "Then you must have made your mother very happy by bringing Xiao Yan back home alone?"
"Yeah," Tong Liya nodded gently.
"Then you should rest for a while; I'll finish mopping the floor and then head back," Yan Weila said with a smile.
"Okay," Tong Liya nodded and sat down on the sofa.
Yan Weila stole a glance at her, a smile curving at the corners of her mouth.
Tong Liya sat on the sofa, feeling somewhat downcast.
She hadn't expected that she would casually mention it, and Yan Weila would actually appear in front of her.
Moreover, it seemed that her relationship with Yan Jien was quite close.
Thinking of this made her feel a bit uneasy.
When Yan Jien returned home, he saw Tong Liya sitting on the sofa in a daze.
He paused for a moment, walked over, and hugged her. "What's wrong?"
"Ah..." Tong Liya exclaimed in surprise and then realized, "You're back?"
"Yeah," Yan Jien nodded with a smile. "What were you thinking about?"
"I..." Tong Liya hesitated for a moment and said, "Yan Jien, do you really like me?"
"Why are you asking that all of a sudden?" Yan Jien looked at her in surprise.
"I want to know," Tong Liya insisted.
"Of course," Yan Jien nodded. "I definitely like you."
"Then... what about Sister Yan?" Tong Liya asked again.
"She..." Yan Jien paused for a moment and smiled wryly. "You already know?"
"Yeah," Tong Liya nodded.
"Sigh..." Yan Jien sighed and held Tong Liya in his arms, softly saying, "Actually, there is a bit of misunderstanding between me and her..."
"Misunderstanding?" Tong Liya blinked.
"Yeah," Yan Jien nodded, "I had a bit to drink at the time and thought I was affected by mutant genes, unable to control myself... so that’s why..."
"Ah?" Tong Liya exclaimed, "So you all..."
"Don't worry, nothing happened between us," Yan Jien shook his head, "She left with Dou Dou because she was scared."
"I see," Tong Liya sighed in relief.
"Actually, in my heart, there is only you," Yan Jien looked at her and said earnestly.
Hearing this, Tong Liya's cheeks flushed, and her heart felt sweet. However, thinking of Yan Weila made her a bit troubled. After all, Yan Weila was Yan Jien's first woman. Although it was due to a misunderstanding, that fact couldn't be changed.
"So... how do you plan to handle things with Yan Jie?" Tong Liya hesitated.
"I don't know either," Yan Jien said with a wry smile and shook his head, "So I want to hear your opinion."
"I..." Tong Liya paused for a moment and lowered her head, "I don't know..."
"If you have any thoughts, feel free to share them with me," Yan Jien smiled.
"I..." Tong Liya hesitated and said softly, "Yan Jien, do you... do you have the heart to hurt Yan Jie?"
"This..." Yan Jien hesitated. To be fair, he did feel a bit reluctant. After all, he had been with Yan Weila for quite some time and had some feelings for her.
Seeing his expression, Tong Liya lowered her head again. She was kind-hearted and naturally wouldn't suggest that Yan Jien hurt Yan Weila.
Yan Jien rubbed his nose and changed the subject, "By the way, you mentioned on the phone that you had something to tell me. What is it?"
"Oh, it's like this," Tong Liya organized her thoughts and recounted what happened after Yan Jien went into the mountains, especially regarding those suspicious individuals.
