The last time I encountered this situation, it was Little Curly Hair who saved me.
This time, I could only rely on myself.
I remembered that last time Little Curly Hair mentioned that to break the ghost wall, one needed to find something or someone with a Yang attribute.
But where could I find someone with a Yang attribute?
Just as I was thinking, an old lady's voice suddenly rang in my ears.
"Young man, cross the road!"
I was startled and quickly stopped.
The old lady turned her face towards me, looking grim.
My heart sank; this was bad!
The old lady hunched over and walked towards me.
"Young man, cross the road—"
Her voice was hoarse and low, sending chills down my spine.
I wanted to turn and run, but my legs felt like they were filled with lead, unable to move.
"Young man, cross the road—"
The old lady got closer and closer, and her face became more terrifying.
Her eye sockets were sunken, her eyeballs bulged out, her nostrils flared, and her mouth cracked open.
I widened my eyes as fear engulfed me.
"Young man, cross the road—"
The old lady's voice grew nearer; I pedaled desperately but remained in place.
"Young man, cross the road—"
The old lady's hand grabbed my arm, icy and bone-chilling.
I looked at her in terror, unable to speak.
"Young man, cross the road—"
The old lady's hands were as thin as twigs, yet her grip was surprisingly strong.
My entire body was being pulled by her, and I couldn't break free.
"Young man, cross the road—"
Her fingers were scraped and bleeding.
It seemed she was waiting for this moment, a greedy expression appearing on her face.
"Young man, let's make a Soul Pact."
Soul Pact?
What is a Soul Pact?
The old lady held my hand and pressed it against her body.
I tried to pull my hand back, but she held it tightly.
"No, no—"
I struggled desperately, but it was futile.
Just when I thought I was going to die today, an invisible force suddenly stopped the old lady.
"Ah—"
The old lady let out a piercing scream and turned into a wisp of green smoke, dissipating into thin air.
Everything in front of me vanished in an instant.
I found myself back on the road.
"Young man, cross the road!"
An old man stood by the roadside, waving at me.
I finally realized that I had just experienced another Live Ghost Encounter.
An elderly man walked over and gave me a stern lecture, saying how dangerous it was to play on my phone while crossing the street.
I lowered my head and repeatedly apologized.
"Alright, alright, just be careful next time," he waved his hand and walked away.
I watched his back, feeling that something was off.
The old man approached a trash can and threw a black plastic bag into it.
Only then did I notice a garbage truck parked by the roadside.
It turned out today was garbage collection day.
I sighed in relief and continued riding my bike.
When I returned to the neighborhood, it was already dark.
Under the streetlight, there were two figures, one large and one small.
As I got closer, I realized it was the mother and daughter pair.
They were burning Joss Paper and Joss Paper Ingots.
I frowned, feeling that something was still not right.
I walked over and asked them why they were burning paper here.
"This is where my mom was buried."
I was taken aback.
This was clearly a residential building; where could there be a grave?
Could it be that I had another live ghost encounter?
But this time, I didn't feel any chill nor did I experience any ghostly barriers.
Confused, I walked back, feeling increasingly uneasy.
I took out my phone and checked the map.
The map showed that this place used to be a cemetery, which was later transformed into residential buildings.
Could it be that what I saw earlier was not the current scene, but rather a scene from the past?
So, have I been trapped in an illusion all along?
I didn't dare to think any further and hurried home.
The first thing I did when I got home was to throw that picture frame away.
Then, I took a hot shower and went to bed.
Before sleeping, I glanced at my phone.
The delivery guy had sent me a message.
"Hey, I asked around for you. That person said he knows where you are and warned you not to go to He Ren Hospital."
I sat up abruptly.
Who is this person?
How does he know where I am?
Unless he has been following me.
