I really am quite bored, and I did feel a bit thirsty walking over here. Plus, being around someone like Su Qian always gives me a particularly relaxed feeling.
It's that kind of atmosphere where no matter how tense you are, as long as he says a few words or looks at you gently, you will let down your guard and communicate with him normally.
What puzzles me the most is that he doesn't have that familiar approach that many people in the city have. He doesn't try to get close right away; he still calls me Miss Qiu, as if we are just ordinary friends doing very ordinary things together.
With things being this way, I didn't think too much about it.
Sitting with him in the soft chair under the umbrella, watching the people swinging their clubs and hitting balls at sunset, along with the occasional white shadow passing by, the environment is actually beautiful like a painting.
Of course, the lives of wealthy people are even more like living in a painting. It's just that I am next to a rich person while being completely broke myself.
Su Qian promptly pulled me out of my bad mood and said, "There are several golf courses in Haicheng, but this place always has the most people."
I unconsciously followed his lead and asked, "Why?"
He smiled gently and said, "Of course it's because of the good environment. Look at the scenery here, the air, and the afterglow of the sunset. Even if you don't play golf, just sitting here feels great."
Every word resonated with me, leaving me speechless.
However, I had only taken a few sips from a bottle of water when I saw Xiao Minxing appear in the distance. Seeing his target made it clear he was coming for me, so I immediately stood up from my chair.
Su Qian noticed him too. After I stood up, he slowly got up as well but remained standing still.
I couldn't be like him; Xiao Minxing could turn hostile at any moment. If he came over and scolded me in front of Su Qian, I wouldn't dare to retort. That would be quite embarrassing!
So I hurriedly said to him, "I'll go over first; let's chat later."
Unexpectedly, Xiao Minxing was very quick. I had only taken a few steps when he was already right in front of me. Without saying a word, he reached back with his arm and directly pulled me back toward Su Qian.
I suddenly felt extremely guilty and could barely move my feet, but I couldn't resist his strength as he dragged me over.
Su Qian still had a smile on his face and was the first to greet him: "Xiao Zong, hello."
Xiao Minxing's face showed no hint of a smile as he glared at him and said, "Su Young Master, I'm fine, and I hope you are doing well too."
Su Qian, however, did not care about the implications in his words and continued to greet with a smile, "I will, thank you for Xiao Zong's blessings."
"This is not a blessing; it's a reminder," Xiao Minxing said.
I stared blankly at the two of them exchanging barbs, unable to interject a word. I found Xiao Minxing quite strange; was he angry that I was talking to Su Qian? But we were just having a normal conversation, which was nothing compared to how he interacted with Lu Yishan. I wasn't even angry yet, so why was he?
Then there was Su Qian; with his intelligence, he should have realized that Xiao Minxing misunderstood. Why didn't he explain? Wasn't it obvious that he was putting me in a difficult position?
After blaming everyone else in my mind, I realized the most blame fell on myself. I had come to keep an eye on my husband and his mistress, yet here I was sitting with another man. Even though we hadn't done anything inappropriate, it still felt wrong in front of Xiao Minxing.
So I tugged at his shirt and explained, "Mr. Su is Mina's friend. We've met before, so when we ran into each other here, we just exchanged a few words. It's nothing serious; let's go back now."
Xiao Minxing didn't even look at me and stepped forward. He dragged me along but as soon as we were out of Su Qian's sight, he loosened his grip and took long strides, leaving me behind.
The atmosphere on the way back was terrible. Except for Lu Yishan, who was still smiling, no one else spoke in the car.
I remained in the passenger seat while Xiao Minxing drove. Once we entered Haicheng, he said to Lu Yi Heng, "First drop Yishan off; then you can join me for a drink."
Lu Yishan immediately panicked and shouted, "Why do I have to go home? If you guys are going to sneak off for drinks, I'm going too!"
Lu Yi Heng pulled his sister back and said, "Stop making a fuss; you go home first. We'll take you out another day."
This girl named Yishan seemed most skilled at being persistent and wouldn't let go: "No way! I haven't been back in ages. We used to go out together all the time; now you're treating me like an outsider? Xiao Minxing, I'm going to be upset if you keep doing this."
Her sweet voice made my skin crawl. I softly suggested, "How about I head back first while you guys go have fun..."
Before I could finish my sentence, I felt Xiao Minxing's piercing gaze shoot towards me, causing me to swallow my words and let them continue their bickering without saying another word.
Clearly, the two men couldn't handle Lu Yishan, so she successfully tagged along with us to the bar.
I've been to bars before but only those that were relatively quiet. When it gets loud, it can be particularly annoying. Given how frustrating today had already been, my mood sank even lower once they brought me to the booth.
Xiao Minxing ordered a lot of drinks in various colors and filled the table with them. He drank cup after cup while coldly warning me, "Don't touch any; you'll need to drive us back."
I almost wanted to punch him, but of course, it was just a thought; I never had the guts to do it.
Lu Yishan was leaning beside him, suddenly acting like a little cat, full of charm, sipping from her cup while looking up at Xiao Minxing's face.
Lu Yi Heng tried to pull her over to sit next to him several times, but this girl clung to Xiao Minxing like glue and was completely unresponsive. In the end, she pretended to be drunk and climbed directly onto his lap, her hand inadvertently resting between his legs.
It really hurt my eyes to watch, but seeing Xiao Minxing completely unfazed made me furious. I stood up wanting to leave, but he grabbed my arm and provocatively asked, "Where are you going? Can't stand it anymore?"
Before I could respond, Lu Yi Heng stood up first, pulling Lu Yishan up and saying, "You two keep playing; I'll take her home."
Lu Yishan refused, tugging at Xiao Minxing's clothes and not letting go. Xiao Minxing also remained silent.
However, Lu Yi Heng's expression darkened. He laid Lu Yishan back down in her chair and then pulled Xiao Minxing out the door.
I didn't know what they said to each other, but when they returned, Xiao Minxing looked like a defeated rooster, head hanging low, while Lu Yishan was successfully taken away by her brother.
The booth suddenly felt much emptier. I found the farthest spot to sit down and watched as Xiao Minxing sat silently for a while before drinking one cup after another.
I couldn't express what I felt inside; slowly, I picked up the green drink in front of me that sparkled with a Yingying light and brought it to my lips.
Before I could taste it, his hand blocked mine, and then without warning, his mouth came down on mine, the strong smell of alcohol pouring in and flowing down.
