This wonderful interaction lasted for more than a week.
We did not argue again, nor did anyone bring up the unpleasant past.
In fact, the Training Class provided results the next day; I was not expelled and could continue attending classes. Instead, the Handsome Teacher was heavily penalized for misconduct and was reassigned from the White Class to be responsible for the evening students along with his girlfriend.
I did not know if Xiao Minxing was satisfied with this outcome. When he told me about these matters, his face showed little expression, as if he were reading a document, mechanically repeating it.
I actually wanted to know how Lu Yishan was doing, but I couldn't ask him that; I could only wait until I returned there later to inquire.
In fact, I did not go back there in the following days but accompanied Xiao Minxing to and from work.
He seemed particularly tired lately. During the day at the company, he was fine, but at night when he returned home, he would sit alone in the Living Room in a daze, sometimes for one or two hours without saying a word or even looking at me.
That day was no different. After dinner, he slouched in his chair without lifting his head and said coldly and distantly, "You should sleep in your own room tonight; I want to be alone."
I stood at the Entrance, looking at him. I initially wanted to say something but ultimately kept my mouth shut.
As I turned to leave, Xiao Minxing spoke to the window, "There's a thunderstorm tonight; make sure to close the windows before you sleep. Go on."
Those words were not like him at all. Even if they conveyed the same meaning, he usually expressed himself in a strong and unreasonable manner. When had he ever sounded like an old lady reminding me to close the windows?
I slowly walked over and stood behind him. For a moment, I felt he had returned to that state from that night in the Living Room—fragile and helpless, like a child.
I placed my hand on his shoulder, starting from his neck and gradually extending down to his shoulders and then to his arms.
He sat still, and when I first touched him, his body stiffened for a moment. However, with my continuous massage, he gradually relaxed, his shoulders noticeably slumping down, and his head slightly drooping.
The sky had completely darkened, and the wind rustled the branches outside, making a "rustling" sound.
It also stirred the curtains indoors, as well as my and Xiao Minxing's clothes. A strand of his hair was lifted by the wind, swaying a couple of times before falling back down when the wind passed.
A thunderstorm was approaching.
I walked over to close the window but heard Xiao Minxing say, "Leave it open; I don't need it closed."
"How about leaving one open for you? If all are open, when it starts raining, it will wet the room, and it won't be easy to clean up later."
As I spoke, my hands didn't stop; I was still slowly pulling the window shut when another large hand caught mine.
Xiao Minxing was already standing behind me, one hand holding mine and the other gently wrapping around my waist, his chin resting lightly on my shoulder.
His tone sounded like a sigh: "Then let's wait until it starts raining to close it; you can stay a little longer."
I leaned gently against him, not expecting that this embrace I had longed for would come in such an environment and state of mind.
The two of us stood quietly by the window, letting the wind mess with our clothes. His hair brushed against my ear, neck, and cheek, tickling me.
His hand on my waist was warm. As we waited for the wind to come, it moved slightly forward and rested on my stomach. After covering it for a while, he said, "Will this be warmer?"
"Mm," I nodded lightly, feeling the subtle changes as our necks rubbed against each other.
I saw Xiao Minxing with his eyes closed, his complexion not looking good, even somewhat pale. His eyelids were slightly fluttering. Although his hands and body showed no obvious changes, he seemed very unusual.
"What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" I asked him softly.
Xiao Minxing paused for a few seconds before shaking his head, then suddenly pushed me away and said, "You should go rest; I need to sleep too."
I looked into his eyes, but he avoided my gaze and quickly walked over to open the door, gesturing for me to leave.
At that moment, thunder rumbled in the distance, illuminating the night sky along with Lightning, only to quickly fade again, followed by rolling rumbles of thunder.
Soon, large drops of rain began to fall, wetting the window glass.
The wind scattered the raindrops, some even blowing into the room. Before long, a small patch of water formed on the floor beneath the window.
Xiao Minxing frowned as he stared blankly at the rain outside, seemingly forgetting about me. I was already close to the window, and now the rain was hitting me, the chill soaking through my clothes and making me shiver.
"Close the window; it’s going to get soaked in here," I said.
He didn’t respond but turned his head away.
I hurried to close the window, and when I turned back around, Xiao Minxing was already gone.
At that moment, I didn’t think much of it; I just assumed he might have gone downstairs to check other windows or had something else to attend to temporarily.
After sitting in his room for a while and noticing he hadn’t returned, I recalled what he had said earlier about me going back to my own room to sleep. Perhaps he was tired of us being together; so I got up and went back.
After I finished my shower and stepped out, I looked towards his bedroom on the terrace. It was still dark, with no lights on. Instead, the rain was getting heavier, pounding against the glass and quickly sliding down, forming a curtain of water on the small surface, completely blocking my view of the outside.
After hesitating for a while, I finally stepped out and went into Xiao Minxing's room.
He still hadn't returned. The room remained as it was when I left, with even the water stains on the floor still there, slowly spreading out and seeming to cover a larger area.
I took a mop and cleaned up his room first, then sat down to wait for a while. As midnight approached and he still hadn't come back, I began to feel anxious.
Where could he be in such heavy rain?
It seemed that during this time, I hadn't seen any car lights flashing in the yard, so he probably didn't drive out. Was he still sitting downstairs?
As these thoughts crossed my mind, I didn't linger any longer and quickly made my way downstairs.
The living room only had a few small lights on, and with the rain outside, it was quite dim; I couldn't even see clearly in the corners.
As soon as I came down, I turned on all the main lights, but I still didn't see Xiao Minxing.
All the car keys were in the key box at the entrance, which meant he really hadn't gone out—at least not by car. But if he wasn't driving and it was pouring outside, he definitely wouldn't be running out into the rain.
I ran back upstairs and checked his study and the remaining rooms. The more I searched, the more anxious I became; the more anxious I felt, the more worried I was that something might have happened to him.
Xiao Minxing had been acting strangely since he returned today; his words and actions were far from his usual self. He seemed very spirited but obviously a bit dazed, not like his usual demeanor.
