Oh my, when did this happen? How come I have no idea at all?
Turning to Xiao Minxing, I was utterly shocked. He, under the suspicious gaze of the housekeeping staff, unhesitatingly took out his mobile phone and opened a video for them to see.
In the video, Jin Ke indeed sneaked into Xiao Minxing's room and even lay on his bed, snuggling under his blanket, which made me feel a bit embarrassed.
Another segment showed the study room, where many photos were spread out on the table. She flipped through them one by one and really picked up a few to keep.
Coming out of the Housekeeping Center, I felt almost collapsed, my legs weak and barely able to walk with any strength.
Xiao Minxing helped me into the car and asked, "What's wrong?"
I turned to look at him, filled with endless resentment and rejection in my heart. But what good would it do to say anything? He had previously sent people to follow and monitor me; this had always been his tactic. I never expected that even after our divorce, he would still do this and even install cameras in the house.
If it weren't for Jin Ke's incident, I might not have discovered this until now, happily putting on various acts for myself in my room.
And I had no idea where else he had installed cameras. If there were even in the bathroom and bedroom, I would really kick Xiao Minxing out.
He sat in the car for a while before saying, "You are too trusting and never guard against others. I only installed two cameras for a look. Don't worry; they are only in my room, the study room, and the kitchen. There are none in other places, and my room was only installed later."
"The kitchen?" I asked lightly.
Xiao Minxing nodded and said, "Yes, because we cannot guarantee that everyone is good. I need to ensure your safety; we can't take any risks."
"Are you afraid she will poison me?" After asking this question, I couldn't believe it myself.
What era is this? How could anyone do such a thing? Not to mention that murder is a capital crime; methods like this are actually easy to trace. At that point, one would end up in prison.
However, Xiao Minxing said, "She doesn't need to poison you; she just needs to add something to make you uncomfortable."
Fine, you all are experts. I now feel like I'm living in dire straits.
But upon careful thought, I felt something was off. Jin Ke was fine at first; the change came after Xiao Minxing arrived. However, from the footage, the incident captured in the photos happened before he came.
Wait a minute, why was Jin Ke looking at photos in the Study Room? What were those photos about?
As soon as I thought of this question, I immediately knew the answer.
Guan Mingyue.
Those photos were given to me by Guan Mingyue. After I looked at them, I put them in the drawer of the Study Room and hadn't touched them since. I didn't expect that after I finished looking at them, Jin Ke would also go and see them.
I still haven't had the chance to ask Xiao Minxing about the issues I got from Guan Mingyue, yet Jin Ke could see our rift from those photos. She probably thinks that since Xiao Minxing can be with so many women, he wouldn't love me. As long as she tries hard enough, she might win his affection.
She is right; Xiao Minxing indeed doesn't love me. But I don't know who he truly loves. However, it seems that Jin Ke has no chance now.
It's truly a melodrama, but thinking about it makes me particularly sad.
We go to great lengths for Xiao Minxing. Whether it was my marriage deception back then or Jin Ke's peeking now, ultimately we still want to be with him. Yet he only needs to say one sentence to change the paths we've taken.
In all emotions, there has always been unfairness; those who are favored act without fear while those who cannot obtain it remain obsessed.
I never used to think deeply about these words; I always felt they were just literary tricks to fool naive girls. But now that I've read them word by word, my heart feels like it's being pierced by a knife.
Unfortunately, my entire life has been about loving others, so I have to be cautious and can never act with complete confidence.
Xiao Minxing asked me another question on the road, which was where those photos came from.
I used to think about hiding it from him, but now I feel it’s meaningless. If he wants to know, there are a thousand ways to find out, and he must have gotten that video a long time ago. Why wait until now to ask me? Who knows what else he might have?
The more complicated the reason, the more I want to handle it simply, so I just said it was given by Guan Mingyue.
He responded with an "mm" and surprisingly said softly, "She really knows how to pick people; she actually used you."
"Well, it's not exactly using me. At that time, she wanted me to talk to Su Qian for her, but I haven't seen Su Qian in a long time..."
Xiao Minxing snorted and interrupted me, saying, "Does going to find Su Qian for a favor really require showing you my photos?"
I couldn't understand this either, so I asked him, "Then you aren't really with these women? She probably just wanted to thank me, so she gave me a heads-up, right?"
Xiao Minxing gave me a look that clearly said "you're an idiot."
After thinking about it, he seemed even angrier and said, "You didn't actually help her; where would her thanks come from? She's clearly just trying to sow discord."
"Is that so? Does she like you too, which is why she wants me to be angry about this?"
That was about the only reason I could think of. However, as soon as Xiao Minxing heard this, he stopped the car by the roadside and said, "I really want to straighten out your thought process and see if you can have even a little bit of normal reasoning ability."
I felt very innocent; really, it's clearly him, Xiao Minxing, who is abnormal. Why should I take the blame for it?
If it weren't for him attracting so many admirers, would all these women be making things difficult for me?
First it was Lu Yishan, and just when things had calmed down, now there’s Guan Mingyue and Jin Ke, along with that group of women in the photos. I haven't heard of him getting entangled with anyone lately, of course, since we’ve been separated for a while, I naturally haven’t seen him bringing anyone home. But that doesn’t mean no one wants to do something about him, right?
Xiao Minxing sat quietly for a moment, then turned to look at me with a strange expression, and his question was even stranger.
“Do you want to know how Su Qian is doing now?” he asked.
I stared at him in surprise and quickly shook my head when I realized what he was asking.
He even smiled a little and then said, “His family is considered official; they can't do business, but he’s not an easy person either. So he opened a company under someone else's name, and that person is Guan Mingyue.”
“Oh,” I replied lightly, trying to act indifferent.
He paused for a moment and then continued, “I think I mentioned before that Guan Mingyue is Su Qian's ex-girlfriend, right?”
I nodded again, though I didn’t have much impression of that statement.
However, Xiao Minxing asked, “So why do you think she likes me?”
I looked up at him and seeing that he wasn’t angry, I tentatively said, “You already said she’s an ex-girlfriend; now that they’ve broken up, isn’t it fine for her to like whoever she wants?”
Before Xiao Minxing could respond, I hurriedly changed the subject and said, “Why don’t you tell me more about that company?”
