I noticed that Mina has changed her personality for some time now, though I don't know exactly when it happened.
We used to get along very well, but I always felt she leaned towards being aloof. However, now she not only talks a lot but has also become completely down-to-earth. I can't figure out whether I just didn't understand her before or if she has gradually assimilated with Zhuo Feng since they decided to be together.

Mina lowered her head, almost touching my ear, and whispered, "It might have something to do with the Xiao Family."

Mina shook her head and said, "I just recognized someone familiar. I guess Xiao Zong would recognize them too. I didn't see them at the scene, but after this incident, the police checked the surveillance of the entire Community and found that when Jin Ke left, a car was waiting outside to pick her up, and the person inside was that familiar person I mentioned."
It shouldn't be the Xiao Family siblings themselves; otherwise, Mina would definitely recognize them. But since there was a car, they should be able to trace the owner through the license plate number. Wouldn't that make it easy to find Jin Ke? Perhaps Xiao Minxing might even recognize that car.
Just as I thought of him, he pushed the door open.
His face was calm as he first glanced at me before turning to Mina and saying, "Come out for a moment; I need to ask you something."

I lay alone on the bed, quickly filtering through what Mina had just said, including that person in black. However, I couldn't come up with any leads and felt a bit incredulous that this matter could be related to the Xiao Family. If I had really fallen first onto my stomach back then, they would have been responsible for someone's life! How could they do such a thing?
It's one thing for Jin Ke to hate me, but Xiao Family and Xiao Minxing are family. Even if there were disputes over business and inheritance, it shouldn't come to harming someone, right?
And then there's that person in black; it's now confirmed that at least two or more appeared around us. What are they doing? Why did they help me? Initially, I thought it was because of Mina's connection, but now that possibility has been ruled out. I can't understand who they really are.
When the hospital room door opened again, Xiao Minxing returned, but Mina did not come back.
He simply told me, "She has work tomorrow; you wouldn't want her to stay here taking care of you, would you?"
"I didn't say that. It's just that she didn't even come over to say goodbye before leaving," I murmured softly.
Xiao Minxing gently touched my forehead and brushed my hair, saying, "Aren't I here? With her around, I still feel like a light bulb."
My face burned from his words, and I didn't dare to ask about Mina anymore. I could only change the topic to the video.
As I expected, he didn't tell me anything and just comforted me, saying, "Don't worry, from today on, I will double my efforts to protect your safety. Similar incidents won't happen again. But you also have to promise me that you won't go out alone in the future. Even if you're with others, you need to give me a call."
"No need. From now on, unless it's you calling me, I won't move at all. I'll just stay at home," I turned my head away and pretended to sulk.
Xiao Minxing seemed very pleased with this response and even leaned in to gently kiss my forehead.

I heard Xiao Minxing's laughter—light but exceptionally pleasant—his voice ringing in my ears: "Why don't you take a nap? I'll wait until the medicine is done, then I'll rest on the bed next door."
He was smarter than me; even the hospital room was a VIP suite with two beds and even a sofa with tables and chairs. So even if he was accompanying me, he could still rest.
The next morning, as soon as I opened my eyes, I saw Sister Liu sitting in the ward while Xiao Minxing was not there.
When I asked her, I found out that the police had come.
"Is there any news about yesterday's incident?" I anxiously asked Sister Liu.
She shook her head, looking troubled: "I don't know anything. This morning, Xiao Zong called me to come over, and I've been here since then. He was called out by the police not long ago. Should we wait for him to come back and ask?"
Sister Liu did her job well but hardly got involved in trivial matters and rarely spoke much. This was much better than Jin Ke, but sometimes it was frustrating to watch; truly no one is perfect—God is fair.
By the time Xiao Minxing returned, it was already close to noon. He brought good news: Jin Ke had been caught.
I looked at him in disbelief and asked, "So soon?"
He nodded and said, "Hai City is this big; where could she run to? Most means of transportation require an Identification Card for registration. As soon as the incident happened yesterday, I reported it to the police, so the news spread quickly. By the time we were chatting last night, the police had already caught her."
"Where did they catch her?" I asked.
Xiao Minxing looked away and said, "Probably at a friend's place. I didn't ask about that. Anyway, they caught her, so don't think too much about it. Just take care of yourself; the Baby in your belly is getting bigger. It's not good to just lie around all the time."
I nodded at him but couldn't quite express what I was feeling inside.
If Jin Ke hadn't done this, she would have only lost a job at most.
Jobs can always be found again; even if there are good and bad ones, it's still better than the current situation. Now it seems that it's not just about losing a job; she might even have to go to jail.
She is still so young; the price she pays out of momentary anger is too high.
Around noon, Mina came by again. Fortunately, Xiao Minxing went out to return a call, so I took the opportunity to send Sister Liu out and asked her, "I heard Jin Ke was caught, is that true?"
She widened her eyes and looked at me, saying, "I didn't expect you to be so well-informed while lying in bed."
I didn't have time to chat with her and asked directly, "Do you know where she was caught?"
Mina shook her head and said, "Not clear yet; that information hasn't been released. But I heard it was in a bar, and there were a few of her classmates with her. I also heard there was someone from a certain company involved. Right now, the news is sealed, so it's unclear who exactly."
