Mina burst out laughing, causing her face mask to fall off.
After laughing for a while, she looked at me and asked, “Qiu Yuhan, you’re quite fashionable, thinking about keeping a man like that.”
I wanted nothing more than to cover her mouth immediately because her voice was too loud, and I couldn’t guarantee that the man wouldn’t hear her.
Frustrated and angry, I pinched her and whispered fiercely, “What’s going on? Where did you find such a young guy?”
She laughed again and asked, “What’s wrong? Are you jealous? Are you thinking about replacing Xiao Minxing?”
This Good Fellow was hopeless, always joking around. After saying this, she moved on to another topic.
“I can see now that you’re not too busy with work to visit me and your Godson. You’re just busy flirting with men.”
I was genuinely angry, so I glared at her.
But she just nodded with a grin and said, “Yeah, you all have families now. If I keep coming over, all I’ll do is eat your dog food; there’s nothing else for me to do.”
Although that statement was unserious, it reminded me of her struggles. I said softly, “That’s not what I meant. If you’re in a serious relationship, of course, I support you. I want you to be happy. But what’s going on here? He looks much younger than you.”
Mina gestured with her hands.
“Six years?” I almost shouted in surprise. I nearly urged her to give up right then, but Mina spoke first.
“Who knows what’s serious? At that time, I looked pretty serious with Zhuo Feng, right? I remember you advised me a lot, listing all his good qualities. One day, I even sat down and wrote them all out to compare. I thought he seemed like a good man; maybe I should give it a try. And what happened?”
She smiled bitterly and said, “Sometimes people hesitate for no other reason than they don’t love each other. If they did love each other, why would they think so much or compare? Just like when I saw Longwen, all I wanted was to throw myself at him.”
Please forgive me for almost wanting to cover her mouth again.
There were men in the room, and she openly said she wanted to throw herself at someone. I used to think Mina was like an old nun who wouldn’t date anyone; who knew she had gone wild enough to leave me in the dust.
I cautiously glanced towards the Entrance and asked her, “What about him? Does he feel the same way?”
Mina nodded and said, "Yeah, he also wants to pounce on me as soon as he sees me."
"Ugh," I really couldn't take it anymore.
Mina looked at me and laughed, saying, "Don't pretend to be all innocent with me. I don't believe your Xiao Minxing is a good guy. Just look at the way he looks at you; I suspect you’re practically naked in his eyes."
I was at a loss for words and stood up, saying, "I'm leaving. You, this Good Fellow, are simply a pervert now."
Mina laughed and stood up, pulling me along, saying, "Alright, alright, no more teasing. I know you have a lot of questions. Come on, let's go talk outside."
Mina's balcony was beautifully decorated and very spacious, filled with many flowers and plants. The patches of succulents looked so good that I wanted to take a bite.
She pointed to the nearby rattan chair and said, "He arranged that; he particularly likes to fiddle with these little things, and I just go along with it."
I glanced towards the Entrance and asked, "Does he not have a proper job? Is he just messing around at home all day?"
Mina shook her head and said, "I don't know; he probably has one. Anyway, he spends half of each month out of the house, but when he comes back here, he's like a little man—very obedient."
"Are you alright, Mina? You're not a child anymore. Even if you're not looking for a marriage partner, you should at least know your boyfriend's background. What if he's a con artist?"
She tilted her head in thought and said, "Do you think he looks like a con artist?"
I replied irritably, "Can con artists have signs written on their foreheads? I don’t have that kind of insight to see through it. But based on our experience, such a young and handsome guy who doesn’t have to worry about food or drink and spends every day hanging out with you—what do you think he does?"
Mina immediately sat up straight and glared at me, asking, "What do you mean by 'hanging out with me'? Am I that bad?"
I was almost dizzy from her logic and felt powerless to reason with her. The more I tried to persuade her, the less I knew what to say.
But she waved her hand dismissively and said, "Anyway, we're getting along well now. I really like him. As for when things go south and we break up—that's God's business; who can stop that?"
I looked at her strangely for a while before saying, "You're getting more resilient by the day."
Mina laughed and looked at me with a playful shake of her body, saying, "Anan, I've thought about it. Maybe this is just my nature—I like men who are like the wind. They are unpredictable, handsome, cool, mysterious; there's no sense of security but it's thrilling. It's like someone who loves a certain type of food; even if someone tells them it's stinky and lacks nutrition, it doesn't matter—they love it and can't change that."
She took a breath, shifted her gaze outside, and a light smile appeared on her face: "Someone like Zhuo Feng seems so obvious. When he started a new relationship, I felt a brief moment of pain, but now I realize we could be great friends, yet we can never be lovers because I just can't feel anything for him."
I was at a loss for words because only she truly understood such matters; no amount of advice from others would help.
It was like when I was with Xiao Minxing; many thought we wouldn't last, but in just a year, everything changed.
What else could I do besides wishing Mina well?
I still had many concerns about Longwen. I had never seen him before and didn't know when someone with the surname Long appeared around us. At least in Haicheng, I hadn't noticed anyone like that.
I had no idea where he came from or how he would treat Mina, which quickly reminded me of her first heartbreak.
Fortunately, I met this person in advance, so I needed to clarify things for Mina. If anything were to happen in the future or if he bullied her, I wouldn't let him off the hook, whether he was Longwen or Fengwen.
When I left Mina's house, I unexpectedly saw Longwen walking out of a room.
He looked at Mina with such tenderness, as if gazing at a little star. His voice was magnetic and pleasant as he said, "I'll walk Anan out."
Mina blinked and then raised an eyebrow at me: "Anan, how about letting our handsome guy walk you home?"
It was hard to refuse someone with such looks. Although I felt cautious inside, I still nodded in agreement.
