I thought he was sick and hurriedly reached out to check his temperature, but unexpectedly, Ye Guang suddenly lifted his head.
His face was covered in tears, smeared with dirt, and there were many streaks from wiping away tears, making him look utterly disheveled.
I felt a bit flustered and quickly asked, "Ye Guang, are you okay? Are you sick?"
The pitiful look he had while staring at me instantly turned into one of panic. He quickly stood up from the ground and turned to run to the side.
I anxiously grabbed his clothes, and Xiao Minxing stepped over in two strides.
Seeing people surrounding him, Ye Guang became even more frightened and almost bumped into a nearby stone tablet as he moved.
Mina tried to reach out to grab him but was stopped by Xiao Minxing, who called out to Longwen and the others, "He doesn't recognize you. Step back; I'll talk to him."
Although Xiao Minxing blocked his way, he didn't pull him back; he just stood there with a warm expression that completely replaced his previous cold demeanor.
He stood still and gently said to Ye Guang, "Don't be afraid. I know you're not sick. I won't send you back; you're just hungry, right? We have food and water here. How about we go eat together?"
Ye Guang didn't respond but shifted his gaze from me to him.
Then Xiao Minxing repeated this over and over while asking Longwen to quickly grab some snacks for Xiao Zhe from our car.
He opened the bag and handed it to Ye Guang, saying, "Have some first. This is Xiao Zhe's. Do you remember Xiao Zhe? I used to take him to see you often with Qiu Yuhan. You called him 'Baby'."
Ye Guang finally nodded and shifted his gaze to the bag of cookies.
I don't know how many times he had to be prompted before he finally picked up a cookie and began to eat it piece by piece.
To be honest, his eating manner was incredibly elegant; he didn't look like someone who was starving at all. He didn't even speed up, even though it seemed like he hadn't eaten anything for several days. He still took his time.
It took him more than half an hour to finish a small bag of cookies, slower than Xiao Zhe, and he also took a few sips of water in between.
After having something in his stomach, his mood seemed to improve significantly. He looked at me for a long time before saying, “Qiu Yuhan.”
I quickly nodded, almost in tears: “It's me, I'm Qiu Yuhan.”
He tugged at the corner of his mouth but didn't smile, then looked away again, standing there in a daze.
I had no idea what to do and could only look at Xiao Minxing.
He took a deep breath and looked at me, finally seeming to make some kind of decision as he said, “Ye Guang, Qiu Yuhan said it’s been a long time since you’ve drawn together. Would you like to draw with him?”
Ye Guang stood still and didn’t look up at us again.
Mina was anxiously waiting nearby, itching to go over and drag him away, but Longwen, who had been by his side all along, held her hand tightly, not letting her move forward.
Although I had the best relationship with Ye Guang, my emotional intelligence was really low. In this situation, I had no idea what to do, so I didn't dare to step forward.
Instead, Xiao Minxing slowly walked back to his side while talking to him.
He wore a smile on his face that was even gentler than when he faced me, and his voice was soft: "How about we go eat together, and then you can teach Qiu Yuhan how to draw? She just had a Baby and needs to sell her art to make money. Can you help her?"
I stared at Xiao Minxing in astonishment, not knowing when he became so articulate, even mentioning selling art to support a child.
However, it did have some effect; Ye Guang actually looked up at me.
This glance gave Xiao Minxing great encouragement, and he spoke even more cheerfully, emphasizing how dire the situation was and how urgently they needed Ye Guang's help. We coaxed him step by step out of the graveyard, got into the car, and headed home.
Before we arrived, I called Sister Wang to ask her to prepare some food.
So when Ye Guang entered our home, Xiao Minxing and I led him to the dining table where hot dishes were ready.
Xiao Minxing said, "Eat up. After you're full, we can go see her drawings. You can help her with some as well, so she can earn money faster."
Well, Ye Guang sat down quietly and ate, then really went with me to the Study Room to look at my Comic.
In fact, he didn't say a word; he just looked through them one by one and then picked up some paper to start drawing himself.
Xiao Minxing didn't follow us into the Study Room, so while Ye Guang was focused on drawing, I stepped out and pulled him aside to ask, "What should we do now? Should we contact his family?"
Before he could respond, Mina spoke up first: "As soon as you give the Ye Family's contact information, he'll be taken back to the Hospital immediately. Do you believe that?"
We all knew this, but the police outside were already looking for him; we couldn't hide a living person in our home.
After discussing for a long time, the final decision was to first talk to the Ye Family.
The Ye Family is currently in chaos, and we don't have any deep ties with them. Previously, because of Ye Guang, Xiao Minxing did reach out to them, but later she was scolded by Mrs. Ye for it. Now that things are at a boiling point, who would dare to bring it up again?
I'm not afraid of being scolded; we aren't really scared of the Ye Family. However, Ye Guang's issue needs to be resolved.
He can't return to the Ye Family, nor can he go back to the Hospital, and it's unreasonable for him to stay at our house. So where can he go?
Xiao Minxing sat in silence for a long time before saying, "Talking to the Ye Family is inevitable, but before we do that, we need to find a suitable place for Ye Guang. Otherwise, the conversation will be meaningless."
Mina immediately said, "Let him come to my company. We can find something for him to do; I'll keep an eye on him."
I was the first to oppose her suggestion. She has no relationship with Ye Guang, and the tasks at her company aren't suitable for him. Moreover, with the Ye Family's nature, if they really sent Ye Guang to Mina's place, they would turn everything upside down.
In the end, Xiao Minxing suggested, "How about we let him go to Anxing Comics? He loves drawing anyway, and we don't rely on him for income. Plus, Qiu Yuhan will be starting there soon, so they can look out for each other."
"Where will he live? How will he eat?" I asked anxiously.
This was a troublesome question. If he went back to the Ye Family, it would inevitably lead back down that old path. The Ye Family wouldn't allow anyone else to control their child. But if he doesn't stay with them, the best option would be our home, which is still unreasonable.
Mina said, "How about renting him a place near your company?"
Longwen immediately replied, "That won't work. Given his situation, he can't take care of himself. Living alone could easily lead to problems."
