I began to persuade Ye Guang, saying all kinds of nice words and lies, but he remained unmoved. Although he didn't struggle to get outside, he also showed no intention of going in.
Su Qian stood there watching him for a while and then said to me, "You all wait here; I'll go in and take a look."
Upon hearing this, I became anxious: "Don't go! What if he runs out?"
He stopped, glanced at Ye Guang again, and then said, "He won't. If he wanted to run out, he would have done it long ago. He wouldn't wait until now. I'll be out quickly."
The door was clearly right in front of us, yet it felt as if it were ten thousand miles away. Ye Guang and I could only stay in the courtyard outside.
Su Qian went in for a few minutes and then came out, with the Ye couple following closely behind.
As soon as Mrs. Ye saw Ye Guang, hatred flashed in her eyes: "Where have you been? Why didn't you come home?"
Ye Guang remained silent but struggled to move outside again. I quickly grabbed him with both hands and reminded Mrs. Ye, "Don't blame him yet; he's back now, isn't he?"
Mrs. Ye's expression was not good at all. She shot me a glare before turning her gaze back to Ye Guang.
However, Ye Guang never looked at her or at Ye Dad. His eyes were fixed on the road outside the big gate. Although his strength wasn't great, he showed no signs of relaxing, as if he would run away the moment I let go of him.
Su Qian resumed his charming warm-hearted demeanor and smiled as he spoke to them: "Uncle Ye, he's gotten used to living outside now. You see, even when we brought him home, he wouldn't go in. Why don't you talk to him here? After all, it's not far away; he can always come back."
Ye Dad took a couple of steps closer to him, but Ye Guang immediately pulled me back two steps.
He could only stop and ask, "Where have you been? Your family has been looking for you for so many days; they are very worried about you, you know?"
No one answered him. Out of curiosity, I couldn't help but glance at Mrs. Ye's expression.
I still remembered the first time I met her; although she had that annoying demeanor, she seemed to call Ye Guang "Guang'er." At that time, I thought she acted that way because she loved her son. Little did I know that the story would take such a huge turn later on.
I didn't know whether she had been pretending too convincingly back then or if the truth was already clear now and there was no need for pretense anymore. While Ye Dad spoke with Ye Guang, she stood still without moving or calling out to her son.
Honestly, I didn't even know what the purpose of this visit was.
Because we were all standing in the yard, the Ye Family probably feared being embarrassed in front of others, or there might have been other reasons, so they hurriedly said a few words and let us leave, saying they would visit Ye Guang in the future.
Su Qian asked if we should collect Ye Guang's clothes, but Mrs. Ye directly refused: "All his old clothes are at the hospital. If you want them, go there to get them. There’s nothing of his left at home; our family is going to be ruined because of him."
Now that Ye Guang wasn't pulling me, I was anxious myself. Without waiting for her to finish speaking, I pulled Ye Guang up from the ground and walked outside.
Su Qian quickly followed, not saying another word about the Ye Family.
We directly took Ye Guang to the house rented by Longwen.
Longwen smiled and welcomed us in just like when I first saw him at Mina's house.
Seeing that Ye Guang didn't seem very resistant, I relaxed my grip.
My palm was sweaty from holding him, so I got up to wash my hands.
When I came out, I saw Su Qian and Longwen had already taken Ye Guang to his room, so I followed to take a look.
The room was very clean and had a simple and clear style. Besides a bed and a closet, there was a table by the window with an easel next to it, along with pens and drawing paper.
As soon as Ye Guang entered, he looked at the easel and didn’t shift his gaze.
Longwen encouraged him to try it out, and only when we saw him drawing lines on the paper did the three of us slowly retreat back to the living room.
The decor of this house was particularly simple, and there weren't many odds and ends around. All the furniture and supplies prioritized safety; even the windows and balcony were fitted with security screens.
Although everything seemed fine, Ye Guang was different from others, so I still sought Longwen's opinion about getting him a caretaker.
He didn’t agree but also didn’t outright refuse; he just said to let him adapt for a while first. If it didn’t work out, it wouldn’t be too late to find someone later.
He also smiled and said to me: "After all, we are both men. It wouldn’t be very convenient to have a woman here."
Su Qian spoke up for me: "It’s not like she would live with you; she would just be here in the mornings and evenings to help cook and do laundry."
Longwen just smiled and said they would discuss it again after some time, easily deflecting Su Qian's comments.
When we left, we went to see Ye Guang. He was sitting seriously in front of the drawing board. When I said goodbye to him, he stood up from his chair, opened his mouth for a long time, and finally managed to say a few words: "Qiu Yuhan..."
I didn't know what else he could say. It seemed like he used to be able to say more. Back then, we could chat a little at the Library, but ever since he went to the Hospital, all I could hear was my name.
Longwen was quite happy to hear him speak and even went over to pat his shoulder, saying, "Not bad, I finally have another friend."
With him saying that, I didn't know what else to say, so I just said goodbye and left with them.
On the way, Su Qian comforted me, saying, "You don't need to worry. I think Longwen has a good temperament; he should be able to take care of Ye Guang. If it really doesn't work out, you can call later and ask."
"I'm not worried about him; I'm worried about Ye Guang. His condition really doesn't look good, and we're not his family. If something happens or if he can't adapt there and runs away... then..."
Su Qian reached out and patted my shoulder, giving me a smile. "You don't need to worry about Ye Guang either. To be honest, based on my unprofessional psychological experience, his situation isn't that serious. It might just be due to his childhood experiences that shaped his personality. As long as he gets some proper care later on, he'll definitely get better; at least he won't cause any trouble."
I truly hope Ye Guang can get better because given our current situation, no one can take care of him long-term. Although Longwen has taken on the responsibility for him, he also has his own job and Mina's matters to deal with.
As for Su Qian, he's already helped a lot this time; he's not suitable for taking care of anyone else.
I still had some free time, but I needed to hurry back to Anxing Comics to help Xiao Minxing with some tasks. He's been extremely busy over there every day, and seeing him come home exhausted pains me. Moreover, I always feel like there are many things happening that I don't know about, even related to the Xiao Family.
Only by stepping out of my house and starting my New Job will I have the chance to learn more.
