I had never encountered a situation like this before.
It seemed that ever since I met Su Qian, he had been very enthusiastic. Even after we had agreed not to contact each other, he was still very eager when it came to the matter of Ye Guang. It was really puzzling how he could change so much overnight.
I didn’t dare to ask him for help anymore; it felt somewhat awkward to seek advice on a situation like Ye Guang's. I wondered what I should do.
He paused for a few seconds before saying, "I'll go take a look."
Su Qian arrived at the studio half an hour later. He greeted me somewhat casually and directly asked where Ye Guang was, which was a stark contrast to our pleasant conversation in the car yesterday.
I was confused but didn’t want to pry into his life too much. Besides, Ye Guang's situation was the most important thing right now, so I didn’t ask further and led him directly to the room where Ye Guang was.
I initially wanted to listen to their conversation, but as soon as we reached the entrance, Su Qian said, "Let me talk to him alone for a moment."
Alright then, these people have so many quirks. As a normal person, I had no choice but to go along with them.
Back in my office, I was starving and opened the already cold food to eat.
When I sensed something was off, I looked up and saw Su Qian standing at the entrance.
He seemed to have been standing there for quite a while, looking at me with a strange expression. When he noticed me looking up, he simply said, "There's nothing wrong with Ye Guang now."
With my mouth full of food, all I could manage were some muffled sounds.
Su Qian took a few steps inside, glanced at the lunch boxes on the table, and his eyebrows twitched slightly. Finally, he revealed a hint of a smile and said, "You called me to help, and it's fine that you didn't invite me to eat, but hiding here to sneak a bite seems a bit excessive."
His words reminded me, and I quickly wiped my mouth and asked, "Haven't you eaten yet? I'm sorry, I didn't think about that. What do you want to eat? I'll treat you now."
Su Qian deliberately tilted his head and thought for a moment before saying, "This is your territory; I'll leave it to you."
My face was filled with distress. Although this was my territory, it was also my first day at work, and I had no idea what was nearby to eat. The only option was this fast food, which I had ordered based on the phone numbers provided by my colleagues.
"What's wrong? Afraid I'll eat too much?" Su Qian asked.
I glanced at the fast food menu on the table. Before I could respond, he had already picked it up and quickly scanned it. Then he looked up at me and said, "Looks like I can only eat this. But it doesn't seem too bad."
I felt even more embarrassed and reached out to take the menu back. Su Qian stepped back and said, "You’re not going to be stingy now, are you?"
"No, no! It's just that I'm a bit embarrassed to treat you to this," I hurriedly explained.
However, Su Qian had already picked up the phone on my desk and dialed the number for ordering food.
Twenty minutes later, not only were there the two of us, but even Ye Guang was coaxed out by him. The three of us used a separate office desk as our dining table and began to feast on the food packed in plastic lunch boxes.
Perhaps we were too hungry; I could almost say I was wolfing down my food. Su Qian also ate quite a bit, while Ye Guang remained as composed as ever, calmly eating his meal.
Noticing that Su Qian seemed to be in a better mood, I asked him, "When I called you at noon, were you unhappy about something?"
He looked up at me, clearly taken aback for a moment before shaking his head and saying, "I wasn't unhappy per se; it’s just that I was about to have lunch with someone when your call interrupted me right as the dishes were being served."
"Alright, out of guilt, I can only say, 'I'm sorry. How about I find a time to treat you to a meal as an apology?'"
Su Qian looked up at me, his mouth opened, but then his expression darkened. He smiled lightly and said, "Forget it. I'm helping Ye Guang. Once he gets better and makes a lot of money here, let him treat me."
After saying that, he deliberately turned to Ye Guang and asked, "So, are you going to treat me to a meal?"
Ye Guang didn't respond; he just quietly continued eating.
No matter what, as long as he was eating and obedient, that was good enough.
There were too many things to take care of during the day, and I really had no time to pay attention to him everywhere. I just hoped he could eat and drink well and feel better here than in the Hospital.
When I finished work in the afternoon, Longwen came to pick him up and simply asked about his day.
I didn't think much of it and mentioned that Su Qian had come by for lunch, asking about Ye Guang's situation with him.
Longwen tilted his head and smiled, saying, "It's fine. It seems like he hasn't encountered any issues."
This reassured me a lot. Knowing Ye Guang had someone reliable made me feel like the weight on my shoulders had lightened. I couldn't ask Su Qian to come every day like that.
However, Su Qian mentioned earlier that Ye Guang's current state was unstable, and anything could happen. This kind of situation was considered good for him; it was easier to adjust than being stuck in a dull state.
I didn't understand this aspect at all, but he really seemed knowledgeable. So without going back to the Hospital, I had almost placed all my hopes for Ye Guang on him.
After discussing Ye Guang's situation with Longwen, I naturally thought of Mina.
But he didn't want to talk about this topic at all. As soon as I brought it up, he pulled Ye Guang and said, "Let's head back first. Xiao Zong should be coming to pick you up soon."
Just as they left, my phone rang with a call from Xiao Minxing.
He wasn't coming to pick me up; instead, he had to work overtime.
I was already used to Xiao Minxing working late. Although I still had things to finish, I really wanted to go back since I hadn't seen Xiao Zhe all day. I told him I would take a taxi home.
However, he quickly replied, "Come to my office. I'll be done soon, and we can go back together."
Between my son and Xiao Minxing, I hesitated for half a second before choosing him.
I felt a bit guilty towards my son, but since the Car was already on the road, I thought that if I returned a little later, I could still see him. That thought made me feel justified.
Even though it was after work hours at Zhi Xing Company, the Office was still brightly lit, and most people were working overtime.
I couldn't help but complain about Xiao Minxing in my mind; being with such a boss was tough. They were always working late, and the atmosphere in the Office was dull—there wasn't even any extra noise, let alone gossip or chatting. Everyone looked like workaholics.
I took the Elevator to Xiao Minxing's floor, where his assistants were also present. They just nodded politely when they saw me.
The temperature in Xiao Minxing's Office was lower than outside. As soon as I opened the door, I shivered and couldn't help but complain to him, "Why do you have the air conditioning so low? It's summer outside; it feels like winter in here."
