This sentence immediately reminds me of the client he mentioned to me last night.
Is something about to happen? Otherwise, why has he been speaking so strangely these past couple of days?
Before I could even ask, Xiao Minxing spoke up first, saying, "Alright, I was just joking with you. Don't feel so much pressure. I just want you to help me."
I glanced at him and said, "If you want me to help you, just say it directly. I never said I wouldn't go. Why bring up this and that, making it seem like something's wrong between us?"
He responded with an "mm," not continuing on that topic but instead started talking about Longwen.
According to Xiao Minxing, he went out with Longwen yesterday and asked about Mina's situation. Perhaps because they are both men, they had more to talk about.
However, it didn't help Mina at all.
Because he didn't even go to see her; he didn't even have the intention to go. He just said that they would be fine in a while and told us not to worry.
Hearing this made me almost curse out loud.
Men can cool off after a fight and might still be friends afterward, but women can't. Women need to be comforted; don't they understand this? If they wait too long, the heart will grow cold—what's the point then?
Xiao Minxing even advised me, saying, "Don't always worry about her. I told you from the start that Mina is not a child. She has her own thoughts and ways of handling things. Even if you're anxious, you can't force her into a relationship."
In my anxiety, I shouted at him, "Back then when I couldn't get along with you, it was Mina who helped me. Now seeing her in this situation without a partner, as her friend, how can I not be worried?"
Xiao Minxing rolled his eyes at me and said, "Don't bring up how she helped back then. She was helping you get divorced from me! Luckily that didn't happen; can you imagine what things would be like now?"
"You've been holding a grudge against her all this time and aren't really thinking of helping her, are you?" I was also angry.
However, arguing with him wouldn't help Mina at all. At least one thing Xiao Minxing said was right: Longwen and Mina are both strong-willed individuals with their own ideas and personalities. It's not something that can be resolved just by someone giving advice.
I felt anxious inside but couldn't do much; I could only call her once I got to the studio.
From her voice, she seemed to be doing fine. Just as she said herself, after experiencing heartbreak multiple times, one becomes accustomed to it. The initial discomfort quickly passes, and she will soon find someone else she likes.
Perhaps Mina was right, but from Longwen's attitude towards Ye Guang, I feel that he is really quite a good person. If there are no major issues, I still hope he and Mina can be together.
After work that day, I took Ye Guang out and deliberately said, "I want to wait for Xiao Minxing to get off work. Since we have nothing to do right now, why don't the three of us go out for dinner?"
Longwen smiled and said, "Sure, but I wonder if you can handle home-cooked meals?"
I was taken aback for a moment before realizing what he meant: "What are you talking about? Ye Guang and I had fast food here for lunch; home-cooked meals are already a feast."
So, the three of us headed to their rented apartment. It was also my first time seeing Longwen cook.
To be honest, he wasn't as good at cooking as Xiao Minxing, but the way he cooked and the finished dishes looked like works of art; they were visually appealing.
I almost understood why Ye Guang didn't eat fast food on his first day at the studio. Looking at the food on the plate now, if it were me, I wouldn't want to touch whatever was in that fast food box.
At the same time, I noticed that the once empty living room now had a violin and other instruments like a guitar. There was quite a variety, but they were arranged neatly.
I asked Longwen, "Do you usually practice these at home? Won't it disturb the neighbors?"
He shook his head and said, "It shouldn't be a problem. Besides, I mostly practice during the day when most people are out working. By the time they come back in the evening, I should be going to work or just keeping Ye Guang company while reading."
I really didn't expect them to get along so well. But if he goes to work at night, what will happen to Ye Guang?
Just as I asked this question, Longwen replied, "I haven't gone to work since we moved here these past two days, so I haven't encountered your problem yet."
Wow, what kind of answer is that? He hasn't gone to work in two days; can he avoid working forever? How does he support himself?
However, my practical concerns received no answers from Longwen. After we finished eating, he looked at the time and said, "It's still early; would you like me to sing a song for you?"
Before I could respond, Ye Guang actually clapped his hands first.
Alright then, it seems our decision was correct. They had only been together for two or three days but had already reached this point. Perhaps over time, Ye Guang would become more like a normal person.
Longwen sang an English song. I couldn't understand it very well, but the melody was particularly beautiful; it felt like sunshine filling the windowsill with comfort.
The music gradually seeped into my ears, soothing my soul and calming my previously restless heart. I just wanted to sit quietly like this.
After listening to a song, I felt drowsy and turned to look at Ye Guang. He was also lost in thought, staring at a certain spot in the void, as if he were flying.
I sincerely said to Longwen, "You sing so beautifully; I almost became infatuated."
He laughed and replied, "You can't joke about that; otherwise, Xiao Zong won't let me off the hook."
I knew he was joking too, so I responded, "Well, who told him he can't sing? Can he blame others for that?"
On the surface, Longwen seemed very gentle and spoke appropriately. He resembled Su Qian to some extent but was also quite different.
Su Qian gives off a smooth vibe, while Longwen has a softness mixed with steel. It's not hard to hear his firmness in his words. With such a temperament, he wouldn't easily listen to others' advice. If he truly decided to do something, no one could stop him.
I became even more worried about Mina. If she didn't soften her stance, they might just end things like this. Would she ever meet someone like him again?
Longwen walked me out and casually asked about Ye Guang's situation. I answered truthfully, but in my mind, I was still contemplating how to bring up Mina's situation again. To my surprise, he spoke first.
"Sister An, I know Mina is your friend, and you care for her in every way. I'm really grateful for that."
Upon hearing this, I felt a bit confused. What did he mean by that? Was he suggesting that they part ways and wanted me to persuade Mina?
If that's the case, I truly regretted coming here today. At least if I hadn't shown up, he might have broken up with her and gone to talk to Mina. But now that I appeared, even that opportunity was snatched away.
