The police and Xiao Minxing turned to look at me and replied, "Yes, so this is all we know for now."
Although I knew that things wouldn't be so simple with Jin Ke, I couldn't provide any more information. The police wouldn't go looking for the Xiao Family based on our guesses; we all understood that. I even had the illusion that Jin Ke's death was intentional.
After leaving the police station, I returned home with Xiao Minxing. Neither of us spoke much along the way. Just as we were about to enter the house, he asked me, "Things haven't been very peaceful lately; you should stay at home for now."
Putting aside these troubling matters, I still felt a lot of anger towards him. He hadn't said anything about my encounter with Lu Xiangzhi in Hong Kong, and it felt like a thorn stuck in my heart. Hearing his words, I coldly replied, "Sure, it would be best if you locked me up at home like before, doing nothing and seeing nothing, just like a puppet following your instructions."
Xiao Minxing turned his head to look at me, his brow slightly furrowed, but he didn't say a word.
The next morning, I was surprised to see Ye Guang in the yard. Sister Wang came over to tell me that he had gotten up before dawn and had been standing in the yard for a long time, staring towards the Entrance.
I walked over to him and looked towards the Entrance for a while but didn't notice anything unusual. When I turned back to Ye Guang, although his expression was calm, there was clearly some expectation in his eyes.
"Is someone coming to our house today?" I tried to ask him.
Ye Guang didn't look at me; his eyes were fixed on the Entrance without blinking. He unconsciously said, "One week."
"What one week?" I asked again.
There was no answer.
Recently, due to my own issues, I had paid too little attention to Ye Guang. Now seeing his state, I didn't know what to do. When I returned inside, I initially wanted to discuss it with Xiao Minxing, but upon seeing that he was already neatly dressed and ready to go to work, my anger flared up again.
He was also very clever, taking the opportunity to slip away before I got angry.
This was undoubtedly adding fuel to the fire for me, as my mind was already conjuring up various scenes of him with Lu Xiangzhi.
I thought about directly going to his company, but I felt that would only boost his confidence. The more a woman cares, the more a man can hold her tightly; yet if I didn't go, I would feel uneasy and restless.
Just when I was feeling anxious, I suddenly received a call from Mina.
She didn't hold back at all and said, "Anan, can you go check on my parents? They just arrived in Haicheng and aren't familiar with anything. I'm worried they won't settle in well."
It was then that I remembered after bringing her parents back, I had been overwhelmed with a lot of things and wasn't in a good mood. I had only taken them to Mina's place, and now three or four days had passed without me visiting them even once.
A wave of guilt surged up, and I hurriedly replied, "Okay, I'll go right now."
Mina said, "Great, thank you. In a few days, Longwen and I will be heading back."
"Huh? You guys are going back too?"
She chuckled lightly and said, "We need to take care of Miyong's situation. From now on, they will be living here."
I could hardly believe what Mina was saying. Although she had mentioned it before in Hong Kong, I thought it was just due to Miyong's antics in front of Mina's parents. I didn't expect her to actually settle those two people nearby; just thinking about it was enough to give anyone a headache.
I had to persuade her earnestly: "Mina, I know you value relationships, but Miyong really isn't suited for Hong Kong. You don't even have a clear understanding of Long Wen's family situation. If you bring him over and something happens later, what will you do?"
Her response was very straightforward: "What could happen? This place is unfamiliar to him. If I'm not around, he probably wouldn't dare to act up; maybe he could even get rid of his bad habits."
"Are you not here? Where did you go? Who knows when that problem developed? Just saying it will make it better?" I hurriedly said.
Mina smiled and said, "Let's talk about it in detail when we get back."
After hanging up her call, I changed my clothes and went out. I saw Ye Guang still standing in the yard, not moving at all, his eyes still fixed on the entrance.
I instructed Sister Wang to keep an eye on him and to call me immediately if anything happened, then drove off.
Mina's parents had gotten used to living in the countryside, so they weren't really adapting well here. When they saw me, they hurriedly asked me to call Mina because they wanted to go back to their hometown.
I comforted them with kind words and settled everything in their lives. Finally, I took Mother Mi for a walk around a few nearby streets, showing her the locations of the mall and the park, while also mentioning that Mina would be back in a few days.
After leaving her house, it was already noon. On my way home, I unexpectedly saw Su Qian's car still parked in front of the house where we had stayed before, but he was not there.
I waited for a few minutes; seeing that he still hadn't returned, I sat in the car and called him.
Su Qian picked up quickly, and I could hear the unmistakable joy in his voice. I asked, "When did you come back from Hong Kong? You sound very happy."
He chuckled lightly, "Is it that obvious?"
"More than obvious; it's practically announcing to the world. What’s going on? Share it with me so I can be happy too."
Su Qian readily said, "Sure, I was just looking for a chance to gather everyone and talk about this. Mina and Longwen are coming back in a couple of days too; let’s all get together when they return."
The more he didn’t say, the more anxious I became. I opened the car door and stepped out, saying, "Stop keeping me in suspense. I'm at our old house now and saw your car. Are you inside? Since today is so coincidental, why don't you just tell me now?"
Su Qian immediately asked, "Where are you?"
I could only repeat myself and then asked him, "Who exactly did we sell this house to? Why do I keep running into you here?"
He told me to wait at the Entrance, saying he would be out soon.
A few minutes later, Su Qian walked out from the door, a faint smile on his face, standing by the car and said, "Taking this route isn't convenient for you either; why are you deliberately going out of your way?"
I didn't change the subject and glanced into the yard, saying, "You didn't buy this house, did you?"
He shook his head and said, "No, but I did think about it before."
As he said this, he turned his head back toward the yard, his gaze somewhat profound, as if there was something in there that I couldn't understand.
However, when Su Qian revealed who the owner was, it left me stunned for quite a while and filled with frustration.
"This house was sold by Xiao Zong, passed through two families in between, and then was vacant for a while. When you moved out, didn't Xiao Zong think about taking the house back?"
I hurriedly replied, "I mentioned it, but I thought someone must have already moved in here. We didn't want to dig up the past intentionally, so we bought a new place."
Su Qian looked at me and then casually said, "So later on, Boss Lu bought it."
