"You can come down now!" Lin Yin exclaimed with joy upon seeing Jiang Chen. She noticed that he seemed much more energetic than before.
"Yeah, you've worked hard these past few days! Have you encountered any troubles?" Jiang Chen asked, feeling a surge of affection for her as he noticed her worried expression.
"No, it's been relatively calm these days! Just some minor issues that I could handle for you. I just didn't answer a few calls over the last couple of days!" Lin Yin replied.
Jiang Chen found it strange. "Didn't I give you my phone? You should be able to answer any of my calls."
"Just take a look at your missed calls, and you'll understand," Lin Yin said as she handed the phone back to Jiang Chen.
Jiang Chen took the phone and checked; all the missed calls were from Old Qin. No wonder Lin Yin hadn't answered. He quickly called back.
"Old Qin, I've been out these past few days and forgot my phone. Is there something you need?"
"Ah, Xiao Chen! There is indeed something. Tomorrow evening at the Kaiyuan Grand Hotel in Nangang, there's a Jade Auction House event. I was wondering if you'd be interested in attending? If you want to go, I'll accompany you. If not, I won't bother with it," Old Qin replied over the phone.
"Sure, I'll attend!" Jiang Chen agreed readily. He believed that with his abilities, attending such an auction would surely be profitable.
"Then I'll have Chungwai pick you up tomorrow!" Old Qin said before hanging up.
"Never mind, I'll go by myself!" Jiang Chen decided against having someone pick him up. Although it would normally be convenient, he was concerned about them running into Lin Yin, so he declined.
The next evening, Jiang Chen arrived at the Kaiyuan Grand Hotel. As expected, a large banner for the Jade Auction House was displayed at the entrance.
As he entered, he was stopped by security.
"Hey there, young man. The Jade Auction House is happening today; you can't just walk in."
"I'm here to attend the Jade Auction House!" Jiang Chen explained.
"Do you have an entry ticket?" the security guard asked.
Oh, I need an entry ticket? That makes sense; otherwise, anyone could just walk in and it would be chaotic inside the auction hall.
But I don't have one! Jiang Chen shook his head helplessly.
"Then there's nothing I can do; you can't go in!" The security guard was very serious about his job.
Jiang Chen pulled out his phone and called Old Qin.
"Old Qin, I'm at the entrance of the Kaiyuan Grand Hotel, but the security won't let me in without an entry ticket!"
"Oh, Xiao Chen! I'm already inside. I had planned for Chungwai to pick you up and bring you a ticket as well. Since you came on your own, of course you wouldn't have one. I'll come right out to give it to you!"
After a moment, Old Qin and Chungwai arrived at the entrance and handed Jiang Chen an entry ticket. The security guard then allowed Jiang Chen to enter.
“Xiao Chen, let's grab some buffet first! We need to eat well before the auction starts!” Old Qin led Jiang Chen to the buffet restaurant, which was already bustling with people.
After finishing their dinner, the three of them settled into their seats at the auction venue. The attendees of the Jade Auction House were mostly wealthy individuals, many of whom knew Old Qin and greeted him warmly. Jiang Chen, on the other hand, recognized very few of them; only a handful were familiar faces from the last dinner at Old Qin's house.
With ten minutes to go before the auction began, each seat had a booklet detailing the jade stones up for bid that night, primarily consisting of jadeite. Jiang Chen casually flipped through it. From the images, he couldn't discern much; most of the items were uncut Raw Stones, with only a few being cut or polished jadeite.
“Xiao Chen, these Jadeite Raw Stones are all from Myanmar. The ordinary and inferior Raw Stones have already been bought up in the past couple of days. Seeing Jiang Chen's eyes gleaming with excitement left Old Qin astonished. He couldn’t help but ask again: “Xiao Chen, is it true what the organizers said about this final Raw Stone having the potential to yield imperial green jadeite—even full green?”
"Let's take a picture first," Jiang Chen said with a calm smile.
"Uh, alright," Old Qin nodded.
Although five hundred million is expensive, there are many wealthy individuals in the jewelry and gemstone industry. Before the auction, many companies sent people to inspect this final Raw Stone and all believed it could indeed yield Imperial Green. While they couldn't guarantee it would be fully green, the volume of green expected should still be quite substantial.
Most jewelry companies have a psychological price range between five hundred million and one billion.
