Tao Ziwen arrived at the police station. He walked through the lobby and headed down the corridor towards his office.
Seeing Tao Ziwen, Wang Zhiyuan quickly stopped him, saying, "Brother Ziwen, there's something you definitely don't know."
"What is it?" Tao Ziwen asked.
Wang Zhiyuan replied, "Zhou Junsheng has gone home."
Tao Ziwen was taken aback. "When did this happen?"
Wang Zhiyuan said, "He left a few days ago; I just found out! And Wang Junpeng has already taken people to the Zhou family."
"What does he want at the Zhou family? Could it be that he wants to take this case for himself?" The more Tao Ziwen thought about it, the more uneasy he became. He grabbed Wang Zhiyuan and headed outside the police station.
"Let's go to the Zhou family!"
When Tao Ziwen and Wang Zhiyuan arrived at the Zhou family's residence, Wang Junpeng was in the yard giving orders to twenty of his lazy subordinates who were standing around in disarray, instructing them on how to secure the area.
Wang Junpeng shouted, "You all, leave three to five people at the front gate and three to five at the back gate. The rest should spread out in various corners of the Zhou family's yard. Zhou Junsheng is a talented pharmacist who studied in Europe and is a significant figure in Shanghai's pharmaceutical industry. If Zhou Junsheng is kidnapped, it would be a major blow to Shanghai's medical community. Therefore, you must remain vigilant at Zhou Junsheng's home. If anything happens to him while you are on duty, you will all be held responsible."
A police officer named Da Zhuang spoke up, "Captain, if we stay here on guard, we won't have time to rest!"
Others voiced their objections as well, and soon complaints filled the air.
Wang Junpeng scolded sharply, "What are you complaining about? What’s there to complain about? Being assigned to guard the Zhou family is a sign of trust from the Sheriff! If anyone thinks this is a tough job, step forward right now and I'll personally deal with you! There are plenty of people who aren't afraid of hard work!"
The officers fell silent and stopped complaining. Tao Ziwen and Wang Zhiyuan, who had been listening to Wang Junpeng's reprimand from the entrance, began to applaud him.

The officers responded weakly in unison, "Understood."

Wang Junpeng finally regained some face. However, Tao Ziwen then made another suggestion: "Captain Wang, I have an idea: why not split these people into two shifts—one for daytime and one for nighttime? This is the Zhou family; even if the robbers are bold, they wouldn't dare come here openly to kidnap someone, right?"
Many officers agreed with this suggestion.
Wang Junpeng, who had just established his authority among the police, complained to Tao Ziwen, "I, Tao Ziwen, are you deliberately trying to make things difficult for me? These people are my own subordinates; how I deploy them is my business. What right do you have to interfere?"
Tao Ziwen replied, "I'm just making a suggestion; you can choose to listen or not."
After that, Tao Ziwen and Wang Zhiyuan bypassed Wang Junpeng's team and walked toward the hall behind them. Watching their retreating figures, Wang Junpeng felt a surge of anger but couldn't dispute Tao Ziwen's suggestion. He simply shouted to his demoralized subordinates, "Let's do it according to Tao Ziwen's method!"
With that, he followed Tao Ziwen and Wang Zhiyuan into the hall.
In the hall, the housekeeper of the Zhou family, Zhang Shun, quickly stood up to greet them upon their arrival.
Tao Ziwen said, "I want to see your master."
Zhang Shun hurriedly replied, "My master is currently unavailable. He just escaped from the hands of robbers and is in very poor mental condition; he needs to rest."

He then went back inside and brought out Cheng Shuping.

I have already spoken with the Sheriff over the phone; this case has been assigned to another captain in the police department."

Fuming, Tao Ziwen stormed out of the Zhou residence and headed straight for the police station, pushing open the door to the Sheriff's office.
Tao Ziwen confronted the Sheriff, "Sheriff, what did I do wrong? Why was Zhou Junsheng's case handed over to Wang Junpeng?"
The Sheriff looked up from his paperwork at Tao Ziwen before returning to his files. "The Zhou family was once partners with your Tao family but is now a competitor. Therefore, Chairman Cheng Shuping of the Cheng Family Chamber of Commerce and General Manager of Qilin Pharmaceutical Factory suggested we assign someone else to investigate Zhou Junsheng's case."
Tao Ziwen pressed on, "And what about Guo Zhuanghuai's case? Why was that handed over to Wang Junpeng as well?"
The Sheriff replied calmly, "Both Zhou Junsheng's case and the child abduction case are linked to Guo Zhuanghuai. Since the truth about the child abduction case has already come to light, we can't have both you and him pursuing the same suspect."
Tao Ziwen was about to ask more questions when the Sheriff interjected, "I specifically consulted with Zhang Dashuai about this matter; even the Supreme Commander suggested I assign someone else to handle this case."
Furious, Tao Ziwen exclaimed, "Zhang Dashuai is just a warlord! Arresting suspects and handling cases is our police department's responsibility; what right does he have to interfere?"
"Don't say it like that. He is your future father-in-law!" Sheriff reminded.
"I haven't agreed to this marriage," Tao Ziwen replied. He and Sheriff fell into a moment of silence. Then, Sheriff asked, "Since the last time at Sanli Pavilion, Zhang Dajie has been in a daze and listless. You haven't gone to see her, have you?"
"I..."
Before Tao Ziwen could continue, Sheriff interrupted, "Enough. I know you don't want to go, but even the Supreme Commander's call has come to me. For my sake, just go!"
"I'm not going!" Tao Ziwen insisted stubbornly. "Last time I took Zhang Xin back, I was nice enough not to kill Driver in front of him, and before I even left the Zhang Family gate, he shot the guy dead."
"Since you know he kills without blinking, if he asks you to go, do you dare not to? He is a Warlord; even I wouldn't dare offend him!"
Tao Ziwen fell silent.
