Late at night, in the pouring rain at Jingxin Monastery.
Jingxin Master, accompanied by a Nun, walked under an umbrella towards the brightly lit guest room along the porch.
The guest room was occupied by Zhang Xin.
Zhang Xin sat on the edge of the bed, staring blankly at the streaks of rain washing against the window in the dim candlelight.
Jingxin Master and the Nun arrived at the door of the guest room. The Nun went to knock, but Jingxin Master stopped her: "I'll do it!"
With that, Jingxin Master raised her right hand and gently tapped on the wooden door of the guest room.
Zhang Xin heard the knocking sound, walked to the door, unlatched it, and upon seeing Jingxin Master outside, quickly invited her in.
"Master, it's so late and you haven't rested yet," Zhang Xin said as she closed the door behind them. The Nun remained outside, standing by the side of the door.
Jingxin Master sat down on a chair: "I want to talk to you. Sit on the bed. Don't think of me as a master; just consider me someone close to you, someone with whom you can share your thoughts."
Zhang Xin walked to the bed and sat down, confused.
Jingxin Master asked, "Do you hate your father?"
Zhang Xin nodded.
Jingxin Master continued, "Do you hate your fiancé?"
Zhang Xin looked at the master, thought for a moment, nodded again, then shook her head.
"Even you can't clearly decide whether it's hate or not."
Zhang Xin lowered her head.
Jingxin Master meaningfully said, "There are many things in this world that are difficult to distinguish between right and wrong. The more involved the parties are, the less they understand. You are now clamoring to shave your head and become a nun, but have you ever asked yourself if you can truly abandon the mundane world? Do not wait until it is too late to regret, like trying to rein in a horse at the edge of a cliff or patching a boat when it is already in the river." At that moment, everything would be irretrievable."
Jingxin Master stood up and left the room, leaving Zhang Xin sitting by the bed, deep in thought.
The next morning, after the rain, the sun shone brightly.
The wild grass by the roadside was adorned with glistening droplets, and the road was washed clean by the rain. The chirping of birds around was crisp and pleasant, refreshing to hear.
Tao Ziwen and Wang Zhiyuan walked along the country road.
Wang Zhiyuan reminded Tao Ziwen, "Ziwen, you must not forget what we talked about last night. This time at Jingxin Monastery, you have to lower your stance. After all, Sister Zhang is a girl; girls need to be coaxed. Once you win her over, then you can tell her you don't like her. By then, if she runs away, it won't be our concern!"
Tao Ziwen suddenly stopped.
Wang Zhiyuan asked, "What's wrong?"

"I don't need your reminder; I'll do as I please when I get there."
"Alright then, do as you wish! As long as you can persuade Sister Zhang to come back, do whatever you want!"
Tao Ziwen turned again and walked ahead of Wang Zhiyuan.
Wang Zhiyuan still worriedly asked, "Are you sure that if Supreme Commander suddenly falls seriously ill, she will return?"
Tao Ziwen: "I can see that she hates her father; this is just a momentary outburst. She has been pampered all her life; how could she have the patience to eat vegetarian meals and chant scriptures at Jingxin Monastery? Even if she stubbornly refuses to go back today, after staying for a couple of days, she definitely won't be able to endure it."
"Alright, as long as you can trick her into coming back, do whatever it takes."
In front of them was Jingxin Monastery.
Tao Ziwen and Wang Zhiyuan were waiting outside the gates of Jingxin Monastery. When the door opened, Zhang Xin, with her shoulder-length hair now cut short, walked out in casual clothes. The thin figure she presented was a stark contrast to the willful and headstrong Zhang Xin from before.
"Take me home!" Zhang Xin said.
Tao Ziwen and Wang Zhiyuan looked at Zhang Xin, both surprised.
"I thought a lot about it last night; I was too stubborn before," Zhang Xin continued as she stepped out of Jingxin Monastery.
Wang Zhiyuan was the first to react. "Hey! Sister Zhang, it's great that you've come to your senses! The Supreme Commander has been restless, just waiting for you to return!" Then he turned to Tao Ziwen, "Ziwen, why are you still standing there? Sister Zhang wants to go back!"
Only then did Tao Ziwen respond. "Oh, then let's head back first; we can catch a taxi once we reach the main road."
Zhang Xin nodded and then turned to look back at the gates of Jingxin Monastery.
In fact, after careful consideration last night, this morning, Zhang Xin had completed a shaving ceremony in the Main Hall of Jingxin Monastery. However, she did not shave her head completely but only cut it halfway.
During the shaving ceremony, Zhang Xin knelt on the mat in the hall and made a vow: "As a disciple who has experienced life and death, I have seen the warmth and coldness of the world. Though I cannot bear to completely sever ties and leave my hair in the monastery, from now on, I will abandon luxury, forget my troubles, and be reborn anew!"
As Zhang Xin bowed deeply, Master Jingxin and Master Jing Zhen stood on either side of her. One lifted her hair while the other held scissors and cut her hair to shoulder length...
Zhang Xin walked silently at the front while Tao Ziwen and Wang Zhiyuan followed behind her. None of them spoke; Tao Ziwen looked at Zhang Xin with a face full of guilt.
When they reached the entrance of Zhang Family's estate, Zhang Zhaolin walked briskly from the courtyard towards them, with the butler and maid Mei trailing behind him.
As they exited the gate, Zhang Xin, Wang Zhiyuan, and Tao Ziwen were just getting out of a taxi.
Zhang Zhaolin saw Zhang Xin and excitedly ran over to hug her. "Xing Er, it feels like I'm being fried in an oil pan. How could you leave home without a word and run away by yourself?" Zhang Zhaolin held Zhang Xin's hand and looked her up and down. "Look at you, you've lost weight. Where's your hair? Tell me, where did your hair go? Who bullied you? Tell me, and I'll stand up for you!"
Zhang Xin replied coldly, "I cut it myself. If I find you killing people again, I'll cut off the rest of it too."
Zhang Xin shook off Zhang Zhaolin's hand and walked straight into the courtyard.
Zhang Zhaolin's warm concern was met with Zhang Xin's cold glare. Frustrated, Zhang Zhaolin scolded Mei, "You useless thing, your sister is back, why aren't you following her quickly?"
"Yes!"
Mei hurriedly chased after Zhang Xin, calling out, "Sister! Sister, your hair is all messy. Let's go back to your room so I can fix your hair!"
Standing by the taxi, Wang Zhiyuan smiled at Zhang Zhaolin. "Supreme Commander, I have already..."
Before Wang Zhiyuan could finish, Zhang Zhaolin let out a grunt and waved his sleeve as he entered the residence. The butler of Zhang Residence, Liu Quan, began to close the door.
"Supreme Commander! Supreme Commander!" Despite Wang Zhiyuan shouting loudly, the main gate of Zhang Residence was still closed.
Tao Ziwen patted Wang Zhiyuan on the shoulder. "Wang brother, let's go back!"
Wang Zhiyuan said indignantly, "We finally brought his daughter back, and not even a thank you!"
Tao Ziwen and Wang Zhiyuan got into the taxi on either side.
Tao Ziwen told the driver, "Master, take us to the police station."
As soon as Tao Ziwen and Wang Zhiyuan arrived at the police station, they saw Wang Junpeng walking out of the sheriff's office with great pride.
Wang Junpeng said to Tao Ziwen smugly, "Tao Ziwen, the sheriff was just looking for you."
Tao Ziwen asked, "What's going on?"
"You'll know once you go in!"
Wang Junpeng deliberately squeezed past Tao Ziwen and Wang Zhiyuan. Tao Ziwen and Wang Zhiyuan then entered the Sheriff's office.
Tao Ziwen asked Sheriff, "Sheriff, were you looking for us?"
Upon seeing Tao Ziwen, Sheriff said, "You arrived just in time. The culprit of the Child Disappearance Case has been caught by Wang Junpeng!"
"Really?" Tao Ziwen was very surprised.
Sheriff replied seriously, "Why would I lie to you? When we caught him, he was in the act of abducting a child. The Child Disappearance Case can finally be closed, and you played a significant role in this."
Tao Ziwen looked at Sheriff in disbelief, "Can we see the suspect?"
"Of course," Sheriff handed a document to Tao Ziwen. "We have already interrogated this suspect once. Here is the interrogation record; take a look at it first. Tomorrow, I'll take you both for another round of questioning."
