As they passed by the red Cherry Blossom tree, Xia Xiaoyu deliberately paused for a moment and looked down at the tree.
But there was no one there?
The White-Clad Woman they had seen twice had vanished.
At this moment, it was easy to think that perhaps she had gone back, but Xia Xiaoyu still felt something was off; there was an unsettling feeling in her gut.
“Xiao Xi, do you remember when you first came over? You saw someone sitting under that red Cherry Blossom tree?” Xia Xiaoyu recalled something and turned to Lin Xi, questioning her.
“Someone?”
In the dim light of the night, Lin Xi shook her head and said, “I was in a hurry when I first came over. I glanced around but didn’t see anyone. I can’t say for sure that I didn’t see someone; I was too rushed to look closely, but I remember there seemed to be no one!”

Xia Xiaoyu's fingers trembled slightly, but she remained silent.
“What’s wrong with you?”
Noticing that Xia Xiaoyu seemed a bit anxious, Lin Xi asked in surprise.
“Oh, it’s nothing!”
Xia Xiaoyu casually replied.
The two of them were not walking quickly, and along the way, they hadn’t encountered or heard anything strange.
However, it was only when they passed through the small grove that something unusual happened.
It was eerily quiet; the long path was unsettlingly silent. The air was filled with a ghostly stillness.
Stepping on the cherry blossom petals, it started off well, but in the center, Lin Xi suddenly stopped.
"Xia Xiaoyu, hold on a second, can you hear?"
Lin Xi pulled Xia Xiaoyu's body forward and suddenly halted, remaining still as she lightly spoke to Xia Xiaoyu.
"What are you doing? What are you listening to?"
The ethereal silence of the night brought them close together, yet they could not see each other's faces.
"Someone is crying!"
Lin Xi quieted her footsteps and softly said, "It's faint, intermittent, somewhat hazy; sometimes it's far away, sometimes it's close. It's very unclear, but there is indeed someone crying."
Xia Xiaoyu was stunned, looking at Lin Xi in disbelief. The words she spoke reminded her of the crying sound she had heard earlier outside the Teaching Building, except that at that time, it was Lin Xi who was crying.
"Maybe someone has had a breakup. By the way, weren't you also crying loudly at first? Perhaps it’s because of an argument with someone else!"
Xia Xiaoyu squeezed Lin Xi's hand, trying to reassure her not to overthink it. However, she did not hear the crying sound that Lin Xi mentioned.
"Xia Xiaoyu, what did you say?"
It seemed that one sentence made Lin Xi's heartstrings tremble; she asked in surprise.
"I said maybe it’s because of an argument with someone else!"
Xia Xiaoyu replied somewhat helplessly.
"Not that sentence! The one before it?"
Lin Xi frowned and couldn't help but ask.
Xia Xiaoyu thought for a moment and smiled, "I said you were also crying very loudly at first!"
"I cried?" Lin Xi felt a jolt in her heart, unable to believe what Xia Xiaoyu was saying. "Are you sure about that?"
"Yes, it was your crying that led me to you!"
Xia Xiaoyu's expression changed slightly as she looked at the blurry figure of Lin Xi with confusion.
"But... but!" Lin Xi shook her head, murmuring, "I was in the old warehouse, feeling sad, but I didn't cry out loud!"
This statement caused the smile on Xia Xiaoyu's lips to freeze instantly.
At first, it was indeed the sound of crying that helped her find Lin Xi, but now Lin Xi claimed she hadn't cried out loud.
Recalling the scene when Lin Xi had run out of the Dormitory Building, Xia Xiaoyu remembered that Lin Xi had only covered her mouth and choked back tears as she ran forward, without making much noise.
Moreover, thinking back to when she was in the Teaching Building, the sound had come from the old warehouse, but there was a considerable distance between the Teaching Building and the old warehouse. How could she possibly hear crying from there?
The key point was that the crying sound was unusual—intermittent and vague, making it impossible to pinpoint its source. It felt as if the sound was coming from all directions and entering her ears.
With this in mind, an answer appeared in Xia Xiaoyu's mind.
Unless there was another "person" crying somewhere on campus!
