The adjutant received the order and quickly walked up to the soldier, loudly commanding, "Three Rows and Seven Columns, step forward! Move to the center of the formation!"
The soldier was momentarily taken aback. After glancing at the vacant spot in the center of the formation and then at the serious expressions on the faces of the surrounding soldiers, he began to understand. Taking a deep breath, he stood tall and walked out of the ranks, striding confidently toward the center.
"Wait!" The chubby man returned, jogging back to the Training Ground, his heavy breaths echoing in the open space.
Instructor Hall quickly approached him, slightly bowing as he asked, "Young Master, do you have any further instructions?"
The chubby man ignored Instructor Hall, his gaze fixed anxiously on the soldier moving toward the center of the formation.
"Stop! Don't go there!" he shouted, his voice filled with urgency and a hint of barely concealed panic.
Hearing the chubby man's shout, the soldier paused, turning to look at him with confusion and questioning in his eyes.
Seeing this, the chubby man rushed up to him without bothering to explain, grabbing his arm and pulling him back.
"What are you doing?!" The soldier was startled by this sudden action and spoke with some annoyance.
All eyes on the Training Ground were now focused on the chubby man and the soldier, filled with confusion and disbelief.
The chubby man paid no attention to the soldier's question; he gasped for breath and said, "You... you can't go there..."
"Why can't I go?" The soldier was even more puzzled now. He forcefully shook off the chubby man's hand, his tone becoming more assertive.
The fat man was shoved aside by the soldier, stumbling a few steps and nearly falling to the ground. He steadied himself and pointed at the gap in the formation, speaking urgently, "There... there is..."
"What is it?" the soldier pressed.
The fat man opened his mouth but didn't know how to explain.
"That is the eye of the formation!" A clear voice came from behind the crowd. Everyone turned to see Qingyin parting the crowd and walking over slowly.
Qingyin reached the fat man's side and gently patted his shoulder, signaling him to be at ease. She looked around, taking in the puzzled expressions of the crowd, then raised her voice, "This formation is called the 'Azure Dragon Swallowing Heaven Formation.' As the name suggests, this formation harnesses the power of the Azure Dragon to devour the forces of heaven and earth, making it extraordinarily powerful. The eye of the formation is like the mouth of the Azure Dragon; once you step inside, it's as if you are being swallowed by it—lightly injured at best, or dead at worst!"
Qingyin's voice was clear and pleasant, yet it struck like a hammer on everyone's hearts. The soldiers exchanged glances, murmuring among themselves, many displaying expressions of fear.
"Nonsense!" shouted the soldier who had been stopped by the fat man earlier. "I have followed Instructor Hall for many years and have never heard of such a thing as an eye of a formation! Stop spreading alarmist tales here!"
Qingyin ignored the soldier's doubts and turned to Instructor Hall, saying lightly, "Instructor Hall, am I correct in what I say?"
Instructor Hall's face turned pale as he remained silent. He clenched his fists tightly, his gaze shifting back and forth between Qingyin and the fat man, struggling internally.
"Instructor, is what she said true?" a soldier asked bravely, anxiety evident in his eyes.
Instructor Hall took a deep breath and slowly replied, "The Azure Dragon Swallowing Heaven Formation does indeed have an eye, but..."
"But what?" everyone asked in unison.
"But the core of the formation is not a dead end; it is the place where power converges. Only those with immense strength can withstand the impact of the core and unleash the true power of the formation!" Instructor Hall's tone was low, clearly reluctant to acknowledge the danger of the core.
"In that case, I will give it a try!" The soldier said as he prepared to charge toward the core once more.
