The chubby man clenched his fists tightly, channeling all his strength as he charged toward the exposed abdomen of the beast. The creature struggled in pain, trying to rise, but Pifu's magic had clearly inflicted significant damage, leaving it unable to get up for the moment.
"Die!" the chubby man roared, his fists raining down like a storm on the beast's belly. The creature let out a series of anguished howls, its massive body trembling violently.
"Watch out, chubby!" Pifu suddenly shouted. The chubby man was startled and instinctively dodged to the side.
He saw the beast's tail sweeping toward him like a steel whip. He couldn't evade in time and was struck on the shoulder, sending him flying like a kite with a broken string, crashing heavily to the ground as blood gushed from his mouth.
"Chubby!" Pifu's face changed dramatically as he rushed to his side to check on his injuries. Hel and Pisman also hurried over, their faces filled with concern.
"I'm fine..." The chubby man struggled to stand but felt as if all his bones had come apart, enduring excruciating pain.
War King Hel and Great Mage Pisman exchanged glances, both surprised. They hadn't expected the chubby man to repel the beast with his own strength, nor did they anticipate how well Pifu's magic complemented his attack. Hel nodded slightly, raising his opinion of the chubby man even more. He turned to Pisman and said, "It seems we've all underestimated this kid; his potential is far beyond what we thought." Pisman stroked his beard in agreement.
Hel stepped forward to help the chubby man up, a hint of admiration in his tone: "Well done, kid. You showed courage and deserve praise." This was Hel's first compliment to the chubby man, who was somewhat taken aback and smiled sheepishly.
Pisman also approached and examined the chubby man's injuries closely, frowning slightly: "Fortunately, it's just some superficial wounds; you'll be fine after a few days of rest."
"Cough cough..." The chubby man coughed twice, blood still lingering at the corner of his mouth, yet he grinned and said, "I'm tough; this little injury is nothing."
Hel patted the chubby man's shoulder, his tone returning to its usual sternness: "Don't push yourself too hard; this training was still too much for you."
"Yeah, chubby," Pifu added as she walked over, looking worriedly at him. "You were too reckless. Thankfully you're okay; otherwise I..."
Pifu did not continue speaking, but the concern in his eyes was evident.
The Fat Man smiled and seemed about to say something, but was interrupted by Hel waving his hand.
Hel looked around, his gaze sweeping over the Fat Man and Pifu, finally landing on Pisman. He said in a deep voice, "Do you know why I arranged this training?"
Both the Fat Man and Pifu shook their heads; they did not understand why Hel wanted them to challenge such powerful monsters, knowing full well they were no match for them.
"The purpose of this training is not to have you defeat the monsters," Hel said calmly, pointing at the nearly lifeless beast. "It is to test your ability to cooperate and whether you can push your limits in life-and-death situations."
The Fat Man and Pifu suddenly understood; it turned out that Hel and Pisman had anticipated their failure and expected them to unleash their potential when faced with danger.
"You did very well," Pisman took over from Hel, a hint of satisfaction in his eyes. "Especially your cooperation, which far exceeded my expectations."
"Oh?" Hel raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "What do you mean?"
Pisman stroked his beard and slowly said, "I initially thought that with the Fat Man's current strength, he would be unable to inflict any substantial damage on the monster. While Pifu's magic is powerful, its casting time is too long and easily interrupted by the monster. Therefore, I believed your chances of winning this battle were minimal."
The Fat Man and Pifu scratched their heads awkwardly; they knew Pisman was right. If it weren't for the Fat Man's sudden burst of potential at the last moment, they would have been torn to shreds by the monster long ago.
"However," Pisman shifted his tone, becoming somewhat excited, "I discovered that your cooperation was surprisingly harmonious. The Fat Man's attacks, though rough, were full of power and wildness, perfectly compensating for Pifu's lack of offensive magic power. Meanwhile, Pifu's magic created opportunities for the Fat Man to attack. Together, they complemented each other perfectly."
The more Pisman spoke, the more excited he became, as if he had uncovered a significant secret. He stared intently at the Fat Man and Pifu, his eyes sparkling as if he had witnessed something incredible.
Hel also fell silent. He glanced deeply at the Fat Man and Pifu, and a storm of emotions surged within him. He had originally intended to test the two's ability to cooperate in real combat, but unexpectedly discovered the immense potential hidden between them.
"Perhaps these two kids really can create miracles..." Hel murmured, his gaze filled with anticipation.
Pisman nodded in agreement, fully convinced.
The two exchanged glances and saw surprise and expectation reflected in each other's eyes. Perhaps these young men could indeed create miracles under their guidance.
Hel and Pisman smiled at each other, filled with hope for the future.
