In the ancient and mysterious land of Egypt, Tutankhamun, the young Pharaoh, shone like a brilliant yet enigmatic star.
In 1327 BC, at the age of just nine, he was crowned Pharaoh by the Amun Ra Priest of Karnak Temple, ruling over the kingdom.
However, the wheels of fate turned mercilessly when he was eighteen. He died under mysterious circumstances, leaving behind endless speculation and imagination for future generations.
A nine-layered coffin, resembling a Russian nesting doll, was crafted using hundreds of pounds of gold. The innermost layer held the Golden Mask, adorned with as much as twenty pounds of pure gold and precious gemstones, ensuring it would never fade.
Yet beneath the mask lay a terrifying curse. Anyone who came into contact with this tomb would face misfortune; this is the Pharaoh Tutankhamun, known for having the strongest curse in Egypt.
In ancient Egypt, Pharaohs were regarded as incarnations of gods, wielding supreme power. As the youngest Pharaoh, Tutankhamun ascended to the throne at nine but died mysteriously at eighteen, with the cause of death still unknown.
The ancient Egyptians performed an autopsy on his body, removing the internal organs and filling it with embalming substances before stitching it up. They then soaked it in a sodium carbonate solution for seventy days, allowing Tutankhamun's mummy to remain intact for millennia, lifelike in appearance.
Although his tomb contained countless treasures, it remained untouched by thieves for three thousand years, all beginning with a Pharaoh's curse.
On November 4, 1922, British archaeologist Howard Carter discovered Tutankhamun's tomb in the Valley of the Kings with funding from British noble George Carnarvon.
This was the only nearly intact Pharaoh's tomb found in the Valley of the Kings.
The tomb housed numerous treasures, including the famous Tutankhamun's Golden Mask, a Three-Layered Sarcophagus (the innermost layer made of pure gold and weighing 110.4 kilograms), a Guardian Statue, a Ceremonial Throne, and Tutankhamun's Chariot.
This discovery shocked the world and is widely regarded as one of the greatest archaeological finds of the 20th century. However, while Howard was removing Tutankhamun's mummy from its resting place, he accidentally caused the body to break into eighteen pieces.
As they prepared to enter the tomb, they discovered a terrifying inscription on the tomb door: "Who dares disturb the slumber of Pharaoh, the Grim Reaper shall spread his wings and descend."
Driven by curiosity as atheistic archaeologists, they ultimately opened the door to Tutankhamun's tomb.
When the archaeologists opened the incredibly lavish sarcophagus, it was as if they had activated Pandora's Box, unleashing a series of calamities and tragedies.
Carnarvon was bitten by a mosquito in Tutankhamun's tomb, resulting in a swelling that led to blood poisoning, and he died a year later. Chillingly, the bite occurred at the exact spot of the scar on Tutankhamun's face.
Months later, Carnarvon's brother, who had also entered the tomb, committed suicide after suddenly suffering from schizophrenia.
In the following six years, all twenty-two archaeologists who excavated and studied the tomb met mysterious deaths, including a key professor who unwrapped Tutankhamun's burial cloth. After taking a few X-rays, he suddenly developed a high fever and rapidly deteriorated, passing away the following year. Others also fell victim to rapidly fatal diseases.
Could this truly be the manifestation of the Pharaoh's curse?
Modern scientific research suggests that victims like Carnarvon likely succumbed to infections from bacteria present in the tomb.
These bacteria had survived for three to four thousand years, leaving modern medicine unprepared.
Among them, Howard Carter managed to retire successfully after discovering Tutankhamun's tomb, thus escaping disaster. He became the strongest evidence against the rumors of the Pharaoh's curse.
