With Lin Feng's current abilities, knowing the trajectory of the bullet, it was not difficult for him to reach Su Xue before the bullet hit her. Soon, he had her in his arms.
For a moment, time seemed to stand still; not only did Su Xue feel this way, but Lin Feng did too.
Lin Feng had not been without physical contact with Su Xue before. In fact, when they first met, he had wrapped his arms around her waist. However, he understood that the feeling of having Su Xue pinned beneath him now was entirely different from their previous encounters.
Su Xue felt similarly. Although she was the daughter of the Mayor, she harbored dreams akin to fairy tales about a prince on a white horse. In her dreams, the prince would arrive just in time to save her from danger.
Today, after falling to the ground, Su Xue noticed a hole in the wall where a bullet had pierced through. It was clear that someone had shot at her. At this critical moment, the man pressing down on her was saving her life. Although he wore a mask and she could not see his face, she felt that this man was her prince charming.
Thus, Su Xue felt a bit intoxicated; her heart raced wildly as she hoped to see the face of the man who saved her.
Although the sensation in his hands made Lin Feng somewhat distracted and reluctant to let go of Su Xue, he quickly regained his focus. He knew there were still things to do; after all, he needed to pull down the curtains to prevent the sniper from across the street from continuing to shoot and harming others in the room.
"Stay down and don't move... I'm going to save your parents," Lin Feng said softly, deliberately altering his voice for Su Xue.
Before she could react, Lin Feng had already moved away.
In a rush, Su Xue only realized after Lin Feng spoke that he was leaving. Instinctively, she reached out toward his head; she wanted to see what kind of man had saved her. She wanted to know who her prince charming was.
Lin Feng naturally understood what Su Xue intended to do, but he could not let her see his face. Otherwise, there would be no need for him to wear a mask and disguise his voice.
As for whether Su Xue would notice his clothing, Lin Feng was not worried. He knew that Su Xue's family would not be able to identify him based on his outfit.
When he put on the mask, he had removed his jacket. Although he hadn't changed his pants, men's trousers are generally quite similar. The dress pants Lin Feng wore today were nothing special; it would be difficult for anyone to recognize him based solely on them.
Moreover, Lin Feng was aware that while he could see everything in the room clearly, others did not share his night vision capabilities. In such an environment, how could they possibly pay attention to his clothing?
Under the circumstances where Lin Feng intended to avoid detection, Su Xue was unable to grab the mask on Lin Feng's face, but she still managed to snatch a Cat Nose from the Cat Mask he was wearing.
Lin Feng naturally knew that Su Xue had pulled off the Cat Nose, but first, even though Su Xue had taken it, she still couldn't see his face. Second, there was no time for Lin Feng to go back and reclaim the Cat Nose from Su Xue.
Thus, Su Xue ended up with a Cat Nose in her hand.
"Counterfeit products are deadly!" Lin Feng could only lament as he continued to move toward the window.
"Swish..." Lin Feng quickly pulled down the curtains, making the room feel secure.
As he drew the curtains, Lin Feng sensed that the sniper across the street had fired a shot and then left, meaning this place was now completely safe.
Since it was safe, Lin Feng naturally wouldn't linger. His purpose for coming here was simply to quietly rescue Su Xue's family; he had no intention of leaving any traces or clues behind.
"Hero, please stay." Su Rui had witnessed the entire process and understood that someone intended harm against his family tonight. He also knew someone had secretly saved them and felt grateful, wanting to keep this nameless hero around.
"I saved you simply because you are a good Mayor," Lin Feng understood what Su Rui wanted but really didn't wish to reveal himself. He could only state his true reason for saving Su Rui, which clearly indicated that he did not seek fame or profit from his actions, so there was no need for him to stay.
"Oh, thank you." As a Mayor, Su Rui understood the implication of Lin Feng's words and could only express his gratitude at this moment.
"Wait, can you tell me your name?" Su Xue initially thought her father's status as Mayor would allow her to learn the hero's name. However, she didn't expect that even her father couldn't make him reveal himself. Gathering her courage, she called out to the hero who was about to leave.
Lin Feng did not respond; he quickly turned the doorknob and silently left.
Lin Feng knew that after such an incident, Su Rui would be more aware of how to handle things than he was. Therefore, there was no longer any reason for him to stay.
Seeing Lin Feng leave without looking back made Su Xue feel inexplicably disappointed. Did her dream of a prince charming really end like a fairy tale, departing without any lingering attachment?
"Perhaps it's only someone like him, willing to be an unsung hero, who could align with the image of the prince charming in my dreams," Su Xue murmured, caught in a conflict.
Lin Feng had just stored the mask in the magic ring and changed back into his original jacket when he heard the sound of a police car approaching.
"That was quick," Lin Feng remarked as he returned to the restroom.
According to the original plan, Lin Feng should still be in the restroom; after all, although it had been extremely dangerous just moments ago, it was over in an instant, so it was normal for him to still be there.
After washing his hands in the restroom, Lin Feng pretended to come out nonchalantly.
As he stepped out, he saw rows of armed police officers standing between the restroom door and the private room where Su Xue and the others were.
Although this was within Lin Feng's expectations, he still feigned surprise and looked at them with curiosity.
"Search him..." One of the armed police officers, clearly in charge, spotted Lin Feng and ordered the officers behind him to search the entire restroom.
"Officer, what happened?" Lin Feng asked cautiously as he approached.
"We are from the Armed Police Force of City B. I am the Captain. There has been a shooting incident here, and we are ordered to conduct a search. We ask for your cooperation," the Armed Police Captain said politely but with an air of authority.
However, Lin Feng could tell that if he did not cooperate, the captain would not hesitate to use force.
"Of course... I will cooperate," Lin Feng replied, knowing there was no reason not to comply since he had already stored the mask in his magic ring and wasn't afraid of being searched.
Lin Feng understood that what this Armed Police Captain meant by cooperation was a body search.
"Alright, you two, search him," the Armed Police Captain said, satisfied with Lin Feng's attitude as he directed two nearby officers.
Lin Feng followed instructions and leaned against the wall, waiting to be searched.
"Report, Captain, no suspicious items found," the Armed Police Force officers informed the Captain, having only discovered everyday items like a phone on Lin Feng.
"Okay, I understand. Continue to stay alert," the Captain replied, not surprised, as Lin Feng appeared to be just a regular Student.
"What’s your name?" Although Lin Feng did not seem like a criminal, the Armed Police Captain asked as part of routine protocol.
"Lin Feng," Lin Feng answered without any signs of noncompliance.
"Oh, what are you doing here?" the Armed Police Captain inquired again.
"I’m here for a friend's birthday; I just stepped out to use the restroom," Lin Feng replied without hesitation.
"Oh, are you from that private room?" the Armed Police Captain asked.
"Room 204; my friend should still be inside," Lin Feng said.
"Room 204?" The room mentioned by Lin Feng was indeed the one occupied by Su Xue and her friends. Upon hearing this, the Armed Police Captain realized that Lin Feng was referring to the room where the Mayor was located and confirmed it.
"Is that so? What’s the matter?" Lin Feng asked knowingly.
"Nothing, you can go back," the Armed Police Captain said after gathering enough information. It seemed that this young man was indeed a friend of the Mayor's daughter named "Lin Feng" from their records, so he didn’t ask further questions.
"Alright, I’ll head back," Lin Feng nodded at the Armed Police Captain and then left.
Navigating through a group of Armed Police Force officers, Lin Feng entered the room with Su Xue and her friends.
At this moment, the room was already filled with people, and it was clear that they were not ordinary individuals. Lin Feng noticed that they were speaking to Su Xue's family.
Upon listening closely, he realized they were offering some words of condolence and expressing their apologies for everything that had happened today, claiming it was their responsibility.
Hearing this, Lin Feng understood that those present were likely from the police department.
"Lin Feng, you’re here?" Su Xue greeted him when she saw him. However, Lin Feng suddenly felt that Su Xue's attitude towards him had changed; it seemed a bit colder.
"Um, what’s wrong?" Lin Feng pretended to be clueless.
"Nothing, why don’t you just leave for now?" Su Xue naturally wouldn’t tell Lin Feng that they had just been attacked. She knew that she couldn’t let anything about tonight leak out, as it could cause repercussions.
At this moment, Su Xue clearly felt that Lin Feng should not know about this incident.
Understanding Su Xue's intention, Lin Feng nodded in agreement and said, "Then I’ll leave first. Call me if you need anything."
"Okay," Su Xue replied lightly, her tone much colder compared to when she had asked Lin Feng to pretend to be her boyfriend earlier.
Lin Feng was unaware that he had inadvertently fulfilled Su Xue's dream of a prince charming and did not realize that at this moment, Su Xue subconsciously wanted to avoid too much contact with other men. In her heart, there was only the shadow of the prince charming who wore a mask and sought no fame or fortune.
The reason she wanted to avoid contact with other men was that Su Xue believed her prince charming would certainly not want to see her with a boyfriend, even if Lin Feng was just pretending.
