Knowing where Lin Feng was, Yuling said she would come right away and then hung up the phone.
Since Yuling said so, Lin Feng waited for her arrival. After all, Chen Sheng was quite quiet while drunk, just snoring on the side.
About half an hour later, Yuling arrived.
Although Lin Feng was not very familiar with the traffic conditions in City A, he knew that when Chen Sheng brought him to this hotel earlier, it took less than ten minutes. So why did it take Yuling so long?
"Yuling, why did it take you so long? Were you cleaning up the store?" Lin Feng asked when he saw Yuling.
"No, I had already cleaned up the store when you called. I was just locking the door. I actually got here pretty quickly; how fast can a bus be?" Yuling explained, revealing that she had taken the bus.
"Oh, then you direct me; I'll drive." Lin Feng realized that Yuling had come by bus, which explained the delay. However, now was not the time to discuss that; he needed to know how to get to Chen Sheng's place.
"How about I drive? You both just had drinks," Yuling suggested instead of agreeing to Lin Feng's proposal.
"Don't worry; I have a good tolerance for alcohol." Lin Feng couldn't mention his Internal Energy; this little bit of alcohol wouldn't affect him at all. He could only use his good drinking capacity as an excuse.
"No way; otherwise, I wouldn't have rushed over." Unexpectedly, Yuling was quite stubborn and didn't care that Lin Feng was her boss at this moment.
"Okay, fine. You drive." Since Yuling was so persistent and even came over for this reason, Lin Feng decided not to argue and gave up the driver's seat.
"Alright, you help Uncle Chen to the back; it'll be easier for you to take care of him on the way. I'll drive now." Seeing that Lin Feng agreed, Yuling continued.
"Okay." Since he had already agreed to Yuling, Lin Feng naturally followed her instructions; after all, she meant well.
After arranging everything for Chen Sheng, Yuling started driving. She knew where Chen Sheng lived, and Lin Feng just needed to sit there.
Before long, they arrived at Chen Sheng's place. It was not far from the store, a suite with two bedrooms and a living room.
Finding the key in Chen Sheng's pocket, Lin Feng opened the door.
The apartment was simply decorated, but it was decent; it wasn't easy for an average person to buy a place in City A.
Finally, they settled Chen Sheng on the bed, and Lin Feng and Yuling went to sit in the living room.
"Thanks for your help tonight," Lin Feng said casually as he found some drinks in Chen Sheng's kitchen and handed one to Yuling.
Remembering that Yuling had taken the bus over to help him drive because she was worried about him drinking and driving, Lin Feng felt that Yuling was a good person.
"It was nothing much," Yuling replied as she adjusted her hair and accepted the drink from Lin Feng.
"Heh... I rarely come to City A. I didn't expect Uncle Chen to get drunk today, and I didn't even know his address," Lin Feng felt it necessary to explain despite Yuling's comment.
"Yeah, I understand," Yuling said.
"Well, now that Uncle Chen is settled, I need to head back. Please take care of him," Yuling said as she prepared to leave. Since they had only just met that afternoon, she wasn't sure what else to say.
As Yuling was about to leave, Lin Feng felt a bit embarrassed. She had come all this way to help him, and now he was just going to let her go? It felt somewhat ungrateful.
"Um, let me walk you out," he offered, feeling awkward but knowing it was late and he couldn't insist she stay.
"No need," Yuling instinctively replied.
However, just as Yuling finished speaking, a muffled thunder rumbled in the sky, indicating that it was going to rain.
As expected by Lin Feng, it started to rain. The rain wasn't heavy, but traveling in such weather without a car was still inconvenient.
"Hehe... look, it's raining now. Let me give you a ride; otherwise, I would feel bad," Lin Feng said to Yuling, pointing at the sky.
"Alright." Remembering the scene of waiting for a taxi in the rain, Yuling didn't refuse Lin Feng's suggestion and nodded in agreement.
"Let's go." Seeing that Yuling had no objections, Lin Feng stood up and prepared to leave with her.
"Wait, let's check on Uncle Chen before we go." Being a girl, Yuling was more considerate and said to Lin Feng.
"You think ahead. Alright, I'll go take a look." Lin Feng realized he had overlooked Chen Sheng after Yuling's reminder. Initially, he planned to return quickly and didn't think it was necessary to check on him. But since Yuling mentioned it, he decided it was better to be safe.
Entering Chen Sheng's room, Lin Feng found that Chen Sheng was still asleep. It didn't seem like anything was wrong, but since he was already there, Lin Feng walked over and touched Chen Sheng's forehead to check if he had a fever. He knew that some people turn red when they get drunk.
"Temperature is normal," Lin Feng said as he placed his hand on Chen Sheng's forehead.
"That's good." At this moment, Yuling also entered Chen Sheng's bedroom. Hearing Lin Feng say this reassured her.
"Lin Feng, Uncle Chen is really grateful. Thank you so much! You don't know how long Uncle Chen has been struggling in the Jade Industry. If it weren't for your help at the last moment, Uncle Chen might never have had the chance to manage a store on Jade Street. You don't know; those who used to look down on Uncle Chen now look at me differently. This is all because of you. Don't worry; Uncle Chen will work hard for you and won't let you down," Chen Sheng suddenly grabbed Lin Feng's hand and expressed his gratitude.
Caught off guard by Chen Sheng's words, Lin Feng had no choice but to remain still and listen until he finished speaking.
After that, Chen Sheng continued with similar sentiments about how grateful he was to Lin Feng. Lin Feng could only patiently extract his hand slowly while giving Yuling a wry smile.
Although Chen Sheng was speaking drunkenly, Lin Feng understood the truth often revealed when someone is intoxicated. He couldn't help but feel pleased with his trust in Chen Sheng; it seemed he hadn't misjudged him.
"Let's go. Sorry for making you laugh," Lin Feng said as he pulled his hand away and spoke to Yuling.
"Hehe... No worries, let's go," Chen Sheng mumbled drunkenly, but soon fell silent again. Yuling felt relieved and left Chen Sheng's room.
Seeing Yuling leave, Lin Feng followed suit.
The parking lot was on the first floor of the building where Chen Sheng lived. Although it was raining outside, Lin Feng and the others were able to drive directly onto the road from the first floor without getting wet.
"Lin Feng, it turns out you're quite a legendary figure," Chen Sheng's earlier drunken ramblings may not have been clear, but Yuling, not being foolish, picked up on some things. While driving, she spoke to Lin Feng.
Although it was said that Lin Feng was giving her a ride, since he had been drinking, it was ultimately Yuling who insisted on driving.
"Hehe... I wouldn't call myself a legendary figure; I'm just a lucky fool who stumbled upon a gambling opportunity," Lin Feng humbly replied to Yuling's comment.
"Hehe... All I know is that you made a name for yourself in the Jade Industry thanks to Gambling Stone. I didn't realize that Uncle Chen also reached his position in the Jade Industry because of your help," Yuling said, gaining a better understanding of Lin Feng after hearing Chen Sheng's drunken words.
"Oh, actually I should thank Uncle Chen for helping me. I have my own things to take care of; if it weren't for Uncle Chen's assistance, that Jade Store probably wouldn't have opened so smoothly," Lin Feng stated honestly.
"Hehe... I might not know your story, but I've heard someone mention a legendary figure recently. They said this person used Gambling Stone to take over a fairly large Jade Store. Such a person must be quite legendary," Yuling suddenly seemed eager to talk.
"Uh..." Lin Feng guessed that the so-called "legendary figure" Yuling mentioned referred to himself. In the Jade Industry, using Gambling Stone to take over a store was something only he could accomplish. However, he wasn't sure whether he should admit it and suddenly found himself at a loss for words.
"So what do you think? Is such a person good or bad?" After pondering for a while, Lin Feng decided to probe Yuling's thoughts first and asked tentatively.
"Hehe... Such people are naturally legendary figures; I'd really like to meet one," Yuling replied without questioning Lin Feng's intentions behind the question.
"Oh? Why do you say that? Do you think their actions are justified?" Hearing Yuling's response piqued Lin Feng's interest in her thoughts, prompting him to ask further.
"This is a society where the weak are preyed upon by the strong. I believe that as long as it's based on strength and no underhanded tricks are involved, winning someone's store is a testament to one's ability. What's wrong with that?" Yuling expressed her thoughts directly without much hesitation. Lin Feng noticed her expression and sensed a hint of admiration in it.
"Hehe... What if I told you that I am the legendary figure you just mentioned?" Lin Feng thought it best to admit it since Yuling would find out sooner or later. Of course, Yuling's supportive attitude towards such a figure was the reason Lin Feng ultimately chose to reveal the truth.
"Don't flatter yourself. Although you're impressive to have such a store at such a young age, even Uncle Chen works for you, what are the odds that the place I work is owned by this legendary figure?" Yuling was taken aback by Lin Feng's words but ultimately chose not to believe him.
"You don't believe me?" Lin Feng asked.
"What do you think?" Yuling countered without answering directly.
"I don't really believe it either." Seeing that Yuling truly didn't believe him, Lin Feng didn't press the matter further. After all, he couldn't provide any proof to back up his claim at that moment, so he just said it casually.
"Hehe... I'm not joking anymore; I've arrived." While chatting with Yuling, Lin Feng didn't realize how quickly time had passed. Before he knew it, Yuling had already stopped the car and turned to him.
"Oh, okay." Since it wasn't Lin Feng driving, he couldn't open the door himself and could only nod to indicate he understood.
Yuling opened the car door and got out. Lin Feng initially planned to drive away but didn't expect the weather to change suddenly from light rain to heavy downpour. As Yuling was about to close the car door, she hurriedly got back inside. The sheer force of the rain made it clear that anyone caught in it would end up drenched.
"The rain is heavy; why don't you come to my house to wait it out? With this downpour and poor road conditions, plus you've been drinking," Yuling suggested after getting back into the car.
