Finally, Lin Feng just took a nap at Dong Jie's place. Dong Jie stayed by his side, but nothing special happened between them.
After waking up, Lin Feng accompanied Dong Jie for dinner and then took her back to her original residence. As for the place where Dong Jie currently lives, since it has already been purchased, Lin Feng decided to leave it as it is. After all, it provided an additional place to stay, and Lin Feng wasn't lacking the money to buy another house.

When he went to the hospital, it turned out that Xie Wanting's mother had already been discharged. He couldn't find any clues about her whereabouts. When he went to Xie Wanting's home to look for her, her mother said that Xie Wanting had only told the family she was going out of town and hadn't left any contact information, only mentioning that she would call home regularly.
Lin Feng initially thought that after Xie Wanting's mother fell ill and was hospitalized, she would come to terms with things and want to be with him. She even gave her mother a card and asked Lin Feng to keep it safe, saying that she would transfer money into this card as she earned it to slowly repay Lin Feng for the medical expenses he lent for her mother's treatment.
"Auntie, this money was meant for your medical expenses; now it's being put to good use. I have no intention of asking Xie Wanting to pay me back. You keep this card; if Xie Wanting sends money over, you can use it. I believe she would be happy knowing that the money she earns is helping you," Lin Feng said. He knew that finding Xie Wanting was hopeless; she was avoiding him so much that searching for her felt like looking for a needle in a haystack.
"Lin Feng, although we don't know what happened between you and Xiao Ting, I know something must have occurred. Xie Wanting has grown up; she has her own thoughts on many matters. That's why we didn't insist on keeping her at home," said Xie's father seriously.
"So please accept this card. Since Xiao Ting is so insistent, there must be a reason behind it," Xie's mother added at this moment.
"Uncle and Auntie, something did happen between me and Xiao Ting, but please rest assured that I will bring her back. She is my girlfriend; I can't bear to see her suffer outside. As for this card, you keep it; I won't ask Xiao Ting to pay me back. It doesn't matter if she doesn't see me; if she contacts you, please tell her to stay safe out there and that she can call me anytime if she encounters any difficulties." Now finding Xie Wanting seemed nearly impossible, and even if Lin Feng had ways to locate her, getting her to accept him again would be challenging. He understood Xie Wanting's temperament; once she made up her mind about something, not even a bull could pull her back. Therefore, Lin Feng could only settle for less and spoke with Xie Wanting's parents.
"Sigh, I don't understand why you two ended up like this," Xie's mother said helplessly. She could only agree with Lin Feng's request while shaking her head with a sigh.
"Well then, Uncle and Auntie, I'll take my leave now. If you need anything, feel free to call me. With Xie Wanting not around, I feel obligated to help take care of you," Lin Feng said to Xie's father and mother. Doing these things for Xie Wanting was the only thing he could do right now.
Of course, although Lin Feng didn't want to force Xie Wanting into anything, he also wouldn't give up on her. If given the chance, he still wanted to talk with Xie Wanting.
After leaving the Xie family home, Lin Feng wandered aimlessly down the street without knowing where to go.
Suddenly, his phone rang. When he took it out, he realized it was Chen Xinni calling him.
"Lin Feng, have you returned to City B?" As soon as Lin Feng answered the call, Chen Xinni's excited voice came through the line.
"Yeah, how did you know?" Lin Feng felt it was strange that only Li Zhong and the others knew about his return to City B, a mid-level city, yet Chen Xinni also knew about it. And so timely too?
"I guessed it. I didn't expect to be right," Chen Xinni initially seemed unsure how to respond to Lin Feng, but eventually provided a reason.
"Hehe... then why don't you buy a lottery ticket?" Lin Feng asked.
"Alright, why do you have to make me say it? I pestered my dad until he accidentally let something slip, and then I figured it out myself. Are you satisfied now?" Chen Xinni clearly picked up on Lin Feng's disbelief and decided not to hide it anymore.
Lin Feng actually believed Chen Xinni's explanation. The people in City B, a mid-level city, didn't know he would be returning today, but Chen Sheng did. For Lin Feng, it wasn't surprising that Chen Sheng knew about his return; moreover, he believed that Chen Sheng wouldn't casually tell Chen Xinni about it. It must have been that Chen Xinni used her daughterly charm to pry the information out of him.
Given Chen Xinni's quirky personality, Lin Feng was convinced she could pull something like that off.
"Well then, what do you want to say, Miss Chen?" In fact, the news of his return to City B, a mid-level city wasn't a secret. Lin Feng hadn't instructed Chen Sheng to keep it confidential, so he didn't mind that Chen Xinni knew and asked her.
"I want to hang out with you. How about it? After finishing big business, wouldn't you be interested in going out with a beautiful girl? Men, especially successful ones, need to know how to balance work and leisure, right?" Chen Xinni's quirky personality shone through again as she brought up her so-called "successful man" theory.
"I say, young lady, I don't have time to play with you right now. You can go by yourself. Besides, I'm not some successful man," Lin Feng naturally refused to go out with Chen Xinni. He wasn't particularly interested in her and turned her down directly.
"Well, if I had known you'd react this way, I'd just go out by myself. Let me tell you, there are plenty of wolves at the bar. Are you okay with me going out alone?" It seemed that Chen Xinni had developed immunity to Lin Feng's outright rejection and continued speaking to him.
"I know there are wolves at the bar. Since you're willing to go by yourself, I'm sure you have experience dealing with them. However, as your father's friend, I think it's better if you don't go. Stay home; while the outside world may be exciting, it's also dangerous." Lin Feng certainly wouldn't be fooled by Chen Xinni. He knew there were indeed wolves at bars but felt he couldn't stop her since she wanted to go. He just thought he should advise her given his relationship with her father. He understood that the likelihood of this girl listening to him was low.
"Hehehe... I knew you cared about me! I'm at Tianyu Bar; come join me! After all, you have nothing else to do right now. Plus, I can guarantee that during the time you've been away from City B, a mid-level city, I haven't gone to any bars. It’s only because I found out you were coming back that I wanted to hang out with you tonight. Come on, Lin Feng gege." Chen Xinni twisted Lin Feng's words and insisted on him joining her for fun while putting on a cute act.
"I say Miss Chen, when did I become your brother? Save those claims of not going to bars for someone gullible like a three-year-old; I certainly don't believe you." Lin Feng was already trying to avoid Chen Xinni; why would he think about accompanying her? He said this while preparing to hang up the phone.
"What? You don't believe me? Lin Feng, let me tell you; I'm a bit playful but that doesn't mean I'm dishonest. If I say I'm not going, then I'm not!" Hearing Lin Feng's words made Chen Xinni inexplicably sad; her voice took on a crying tone as she spoke loudly into the phone.
Although Lin Feng couldn't see Chen Xinni's tearful expression through the phone call, he could clearly sense her agitation. Despite not having any feelings for her, he thought it would be inappropriate to ignore this girl crying endlessly just because he didn't like her—after all, he had some regard for Chen Sheng.
"Alright then! Let's pretend you're not going to the bar; I'm scared of you now! Just stop crying; do whatever you want; I'm not anyone special in your life." Lin Feng felt helpless and didn't want to continue talking with Chen Xinni. After all, he really wasn't anyone significant in her life and didn't see the need to worry about her. Moreover, he knew that she wasn't some innocent girl; she had probably visited bars more often than he had and was quite experienced. Perhaps he was overthinking things—she would likely be fine even if she went out alone.
"What do you mean by 'just treat it as'? Wuwu..." Chen Xinni clung to Lin Feng's words and continued to cry.
"Hey, alright, alright, I'll go to the bar, called 'Tianyu,' right? I'm on my way." Lin Feng saw that he had nothing else to do, and since Chen Xinni was genuinely crying on the other end of the line, he could only compromise. Who knows what kind of trouble she would cause if he didn't go?
"Hehe... I knew you wouldn't just leave me alone." Chen Xinni immediately brightened up and said cheerfully.
Lin Feng was speechless, but since he had nothing else to do, it wouldn't hurt to go check on her.
After hanging up the phone, Lin Feng drove straight to the bar that Chen Xinni mentioned.
The bar wasn't far from where Lin Feng was; he arrived in just over ten minutes. After parking his car, he indeed saw Chen Xinni waiting for him at the entrance.
"Wow... Lin Feng, you changed cars again! You're really rich!" Chen Xinni walked up to him, took Lin Feng's car keys and examined them closely, even trying to press the anti-theft system while saying this.
"A friend gave it to me," Lin Feng replied helplessly. He wondered why girls got so excited just seeing a car.
"Your friend is really nice! Why not ask him to give me one too? I've been thinking about getting a new car myself. Hey, Lin Feng, how about we swap cars for a while?" Chen Xinni continued chatting without a care in the world and even proposed what she thought was a great idea.
"Uh, sorry, but I really don't have that habit," Lin Feng quickly stopped her. If he really swapped cars with her, he was sure his troubles would multiply in the future.
