They still used the old method. Lin Feng and the others chose a mid-range KTV, then drank and ate together before heading home.
The next day, when Zhu Jie received a call from Rain Shield Company, he was stunned for a minute, unable to close his mouth.
Zhu Jie had to admit that when he initially assigned Chen Li's team to take on the task for Cai Zi Company, which had already failed twice, he never intended for them to succeed. Completing the task would be a way to make things difficult for Chen Li and apply pressure on him to achieve his ulterior motives. In short, he was determined to get what he wanted from Chen Li; this was merely a small tactic for his own benefit.
Of course, he only had to say a few words, and Chen Li's team would have to run themselves ragged. This was part of the so-called superiority he felt as a Minister. As the saying goes, those above just have to speak, while those below run themselves into the ground; this was a perfect illustration of that.
At that time, after signing the contract, Chen Li's team was so happy for personal reasons that they didn't inform Zhu Jie of this good news. Thus, Zhu Jie only heard about it the next morning when he arrived at work.
After the initial shock wore off, Zhu Jie quickly regained his composure. He hadn't expected Chen Li's team to succeed, but since they had inadvertently done so, he could also take advantage of it. After all, as the direct supervisor of Chen Li's team, when it came time to report to superiors, the report would be written by him. He could present it however he wanted.
Thinking of this made Zhu Jie smile again.
Lin Feng, however, was unaware that his immediate superior's superior was preparing to take credit for his team's hard work. At that moment, he was in the office starting his white-collar job. Since Lin Feng had contributed this time, Liu Yan specifically requested him from Chen Li's side. Therefore, Lin Feng's main job moving forward would be to assist Liu Yan with design work.
This meant that Lin Feng would have more freedom in his work; as long as he could submit a design proposal whenever the company needed one, he would be satisfied. Right now, he was chatting online with Liu Jing under the pretense of researching materials.
The reason he was chatting with Liu Jing online wasn't because he missed her; rather, Lin Feng was trying to gather information about Su Rong through Liu Jing.
After all, Su Rong's ex-husband was involved, and Lin Feng didn't know how Su Rong would handle it.
"How is it?" Lin Feng messaged.
"What do you mean 'how is it'?" Liu Jing was surprised to receive a message from Lin Feng today and initially thought he wanted to chat with her. After exchanging a few messages, she realized that Lin Feng was only interested in getting updates on Su Rong’s situation. Subconsciously annoyed, she asked him knowingly.
"About Su Rong's matter; aren't you assisting her?" Lin Feng explained since Liu Jing seemed not to grasp what he was asking.
"I'm not assisting her; I'm helping her! Do you understand?" Upon hearing Lin Feng's words, Liu Jing's anger escalated as she questioned him.
"Well, yes, you are helping her. How is that going?" Lin Feng wondered if Liu Jing had eaten something spicy today, but seeing her attitude, he decided not to provoke her further and asked.
"Not bad, I guess." Liu Jing didn't want to answer but was in a bad mood, so she naturally didn't have anything nice to say.
"I mean, Miss Liu, can you be a bit more specific? Not bad? How bad is it?" Lin Feng was no longer willing to cater to her and pressed for more information.
"Like it or not, this is how I always respond. If you understand, good for you; if not, it's your limited comprehension that's to blame," Liu Jing shot back, feeling even more irritated by Lin Feng's attitude.
"What happened? Who bullied you? I can help you vent," Lin Feng noticed that Liu Jing was in a terrible mood. Although she was a wealthy young lady, she usually didn't show any airs, especially when interacting with him. So he asked.
Hearing this made Liu Jing feel a little happy for some reason. She felt inexplicably satisfied when Lin Feng said that.
But before Liu Jing could fully enjoy the moment, another message came from Lin Feng: "Don't bottle up your feelings; let me help you vent. Don't delay helping Rong Jie."
At this point, Liu Jing felt an impulse to smash her computer. What kind of person was he? Always talking about Rong Jie—was she his wife or something?
So if she wasn't helping Su Rong and got bullied, he wouldn't help her vent? Liu Jing felt very unbalanced inside.
The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. Finally, Liu Jing opened a command window and quickly typed a series of commands on the keyboard. Soon after, the writing ended, and the command window began to execute.
Immediately after that, Lin Feng's computer screen went black and then turned white.
Lin Feng was startled by this scene. Just as he was about to restart his computer, he pressed the restart button several times but found that the computer remained unresponsive.
"Is this what they call crashing?" Lin Feng muttered to himself, feeling for the first time the possibility of being hacked.
Just when he was about to unplug the power cord, the computer screen turned from white to black, and then a message appeared on the black screen: "Lin Feng, I hate you. Is there only Su Rong in your eyes?"
Well now, Lin Feng stopped his action of unplugging the power cord. Even if he were foolish, he would know that this was Liu Jing's doing. When this girl went crazy, she really was something else.
After thinking for a moment, Lin Feng still didn't understand. Even if he was focusing on discussing Su Rong's matters, did she really need to go this far? This was his work computer! What would happen if it broke? Wouldn't others hold him responsible?
However, Lin Feng let out a sigh of relief. Fortunately, although Liu Jing was a bit crazy, she wasn't heartless; at least she hadn't played any inappropriate videos on his computer.
But just as Lin Feng was feeling grateful, the computer screen suddenly changed. To his shock, it automatically started playing an art film from Island Nation.
Seeing this, Lin Feng didn't hesitate any longer and decisively unplugged the power cord. He looked around to check his surroundings.
Luckily, no one was nearby, and the office computers were equipped with headphones instead of speakers to avoid interference.
Alright then, the cautious Lin Feng turned the computer back on. When the familiar window popped up, he finally felt relieved.
However, less than a minute after the desktop appeared, the computer froze again, went black, and then... well... it began to forcibly play another art film from Island Nation.
"Damn it..." Lin Feng cursed under his breath and unplugged the power cord once more.
What should he do? If someone discovered that his computer had been infected with a virus like this, would anyone think positively about it?
Everyone would probably assume he had browsed some inappropriate software while at work and ended up with such a virus.
The most malicious hearts belong to women; Lin Feng truly understood what it meant when he thought of the saying "Only small-minded people and women are hard to deal with."
Unfortunately, what made Lin Feng feel even more embarrassed was that although he was a Computer Science major student, he really wasn't very skilled at operating computers. For instance, in this situation, he couldn't solve the problem and could only force a shutdown. Given how things were going now, even reinstalling the system probably wouldn't fix the issue.
There was no choice; to untie the bell, one must find the bell-ringer. Lin Feng could only pick up his mobile phone and dial Liu Jing's number.
He got no answer. When he heard the busy tone on the line, Lin Feng couldn't help but smile wryly.
He knew Liu Jing had hung up on him because after two rings, the other party said, "Hello, the number you dialed is temporarily unavailable." So it was clear that Liu Jing had disconnected his call.
"How polite; clearly hung up on me but saying the line is unavailable." After cursing lightly to himself, Lin Feng dialed Liu Jing's number again. He had no choice; she was in control now.
"Hello... I'm very busy right now helping your Rong Jie with some matters." Well, this time Liu Jing didn't hang up on Lin Feng's call, but once connected, her tone was rather sarcastic.
"Liu Jing, did you put a virus on my computer?" Lin Feng could only smile wryly and ask.
"I'm busy; I don't have time for such boring things," Liu Jing naturally wouldn't admit it and continued to speak sarcastically.
"Enough, Liu Jing. I'm at the office right now. Let's set a time to talk about this. You need to restore my computer immediately. If anyone finds out, I won't know where to hide my face." Lin Feng knew that Liu Jing was upset, but he couldn't just let his computer keep playing whatever ridiculous video it was showing, so he had to speak somewhat firmly.
"Hmph... It's your embarrassment, not mine," Liu Jing huffed and replied.
At that moment, Liu Jing was in a bad mood, and the more Lin Feng pressed her, the less she was willing to cooperate.
"Fine, I'll admit I was wrong. Can you please restore it now?" Lin Feng realized the situation; it was foolish to reason with her when she was so angry.
"Beep..." The only response Lin Feng received was the sound of a busy signal. Clearly, Liu Jing had hung up on him again.
"Liu Jing, you're something else," Lin Feng muttered under his breath as he listened to the busy tone, feeling a headache coming on.
Right now, Liu Jing was not someone he could rely on. In fact, Lin Feng even suspected that she might go crazy and do something that seemed helpful but would actually leave him in shock. The unknown was the most terrifying part; he couldn't gauge whether she would pretend to fix his computer while actually causing even more damage.
Who told him he didn't understand computers? Lin Feng regretted not spending time studying them properly.
He also knew that the future belonged to the information age. As a reborn person, if he couldn't even handle a computer, it would be tough for him to get by. Just like now, with a few clicks from Liu Jing, his computer was completely incapacitated.
