After having breakfast, Li Shuzhen sat on the sand, rubbing her temples uncomfortably.
"What's wrong? Headache?" Lin Feng asked as he walked over.
"Yeah, a bit. I went a little overboard last night," Li Shuzhen replied.
"Come on, lie down in the room. I'll give you a massage; I guarantee you'll feel better," Lin Feng suggested after confirming that Li Shuzhen's headache was due to excessive drinking the night before.
"No need, let's just go to the office. I can take some medicine when we get there. I'm fine; let's hurry up and not delay going to work," Li Shuzhen said, not believing that Lin Feng could really make her feel better instantly. Having experienced hangovers herself, she knew that the headache would only improve with time and that if she wanted to feel better quickly, she would need some medication.
Taking medication also required time to recover; there was no such thing as an instant cure as Lin Feng claimed.
However, this was Lin Feng's good intention, and Li Shuzhen could only politely decline his unrealistic offer.
At that moment, Lin Feng directly picked Li Shuzhen up from the sand and started walking toward the bedroom.
"Lin Feng, what are you doing?" Li Shuzhen was momentarily stunned. Once she regained her senses, she began to struggle and shouted.
"Treating you," Lin Feng said, unfazed, continuing to carry her toward the bedroom.
"I just said I could take some medicine myself. There’s no such thing as an instant massage technique that works like magic. Hurry up; we still have to go to work," Li Shuzhen thought for a moment and began to doubt Lin Feng's insistence on carrying her to bed.
Did I treat him too well this morning and give him the wrong impression that I don't mind him? This was what Li Shuzhen was thinking at that moment.
Meanwhile, Lin Feng had already placed Li Shuzhen on the bed and was covering her with a blanket while saying, "In your condition, you can't even drive safely, let alone go to work. Just listen; you'll feel better soon." It was at this moment that Lin Feng began to patiently explain himself.
Seeing how things had progressed and feeling a sense of security under the thick blanket, Li Shuzhen felt she might have misunderstood him and decided to go along with Lin Feng's intentions.
Li Shuzhen felt a flush of embarrassment for doubting Lin Feng just moments ago.
At this moment, Lin Feng was not in the mood to speculate about Li Shuzhen's thoughts. Instead, he began to channel his Internal Energy and started massaging her temples.
Indeed, if it weren't for Lin Feng, no matter how skilled another doctor might be, they would still have to prescribe some medication and let Li Shuzhen sleep it off to recover.
However, Lin Feng was different from others; he possessed powerful Internal Energy that allowed him to heal others at will. Additionally, with the help of a true expert like Tesla, he could easily handle such minor issues.
Sure enough, within three minutes, Lin Feng stopped his actions and looked at Li Shuzhen, who was lying there with a look of enjoyment, and couldn't help but smile.
"Why did you stop? That felt great," Li Shuzhen said, unaware that she had become entranced by Lin Feng's massage. As soon as he paused, she instinctively reacted and asked.
"Hehe... I'll stop when you're healed; otherwise, we'll be late," Lin Feng replied, clearly not surprised by her reaction.
Then, disregarding Li Shuzhen's puzzled expression, Lin Feng walked out of her room.
It was already quite late, and Lin Feng figured he wouldn't make it in time to pick up Lin Mei for work. Therefore, he needed to call her.
"Hello, Lin Feng, what's up?" On the other end of the line, Lin Mei was evidently waiting for his call. The phone connected quickly as she asked.
"Sorry, I have something going on right now. I might be half an hour late getting to you. What do you plan to do?" Lin Feng said directly to Lin Mei, feeling a bit guilty.
"Oh, that's fine. I'll wait for you for half an hour," Lin Mei replied after thinking for a moment before hanging up the phone.
Listening to the busy tone on the line, Lin Feng could only smile wryly. He wasn't sure if Lin Mei was upset or not, but regardless, he needed to hurry over to her; otherwise, things would really get complicated.
Meanwhile, Li Shuzhen was walking toward the living room while confirming that her headache was gone and marveling at Lin Feng's miraculous abilities.
"Lin Feng, I underestimated you just now. I didn't realize you understood this too. That's great," Li Shuzhen said as she walked.
"Hehe... it's just a few small tricks. Don't worry about it. Hurry up and get ready for work; I still need to go back and drive to pick up Lin Dong. I'm off now," Lin Feng replied.
"Oh, how are you getting back?" Li Shuzhen continued to ask.
"What's so difficult about that? I'll just take a taxi," Lin Feng said as he opened the door, preparing to leave.
"At this time, it's rush hour. Let me give you a ride," Li Shuzhen said at that moment.
"Oh, that's fine then. Thank you," Lin Feng said, seeing that Li Shuzhen was offering. He didn't refuse, as it was indeed rush hour, and he might have to wait for a taxi.
The two of them left Li Shuzhen's apartment together, and then she went to get her car, asking Lin Feng to drive since they were in a hurry.
Lin Feng drove her to his place, then bid farewell to Li Shuzhen and reminded her to head to work first.
Li Shuzhen also knew that Lin Feng still needed to go to the Lin family home to pick up Lin Mei, so she agreed and left.
However, after going upstairs, Lin Feng noticed that someone was following him.
He had already confirmed in the car that someone was tailing him, but this person was only following him for now and hadn't done anything yet. So Lin Feng didn't bother with it until just now when he let Li Shuzhen leave. He realized that the person following him did not follow Li Shuzhen out, meaning this individual was there specifically to track him and not Li Shuzhen.
Thinking of this, Lin Feng felt relieved. He was skilled and not afraid of any petty troublemakers bothering him, but Li Shuzhen was just a weak woman and naturally had no ability to resist in such matters.
Confirming that the person was indeed following him and that their method wasn't very sophisticated, Lin Feng decided to ignore them for the time being since he was very busy at the moment.
So, Lin Feng paid no attention to the follower and went to the garage to get his car before heading towards Lin Family Manor.
However, as Lin Feng hit the road, he noticed that the person who had been following him had given up the chase and did not come along.
This was something Lin Feng could not understand.
At that moment, downstairs at Lin Feng's home, the person who had been tracking him was already making a phone call.
"An Shao, I've followed him here. Lin Feng stayed with Li Shuzhen last night and just took Li Shuzhen's car home. He is probably going to pick up someone from the Lin family for work now. Do you have any further instructions?" The person was actually sent by Kong An, reporting the situation.
"You idiot, get back here!" Kong An was clearly furious on the other end of the line before hanging up.
Although Kong An wasn't particularly clever, he had a decent level of intelligence. Even though Lin Feng had managed to deceive him last night, after thinking it over, Kong An found Lin Feng's identity suspicious. So, he began investigating Lin Feng overnight.
Following the clues, Kong An finally uncovered Lin Feng's true identity. This guy was not at all Li Shuzhen's brother; they had only recently met. Remembering how Lin Feng had played him for a fool last night made Kong An want to tear him apart.
In all his years, it was the first time someone had tricked him like this.
However, the news that followed made Kong An even more furious. According to his informant, Lin Feng had actually spent the night at Li Shuzhen's house. A man and a woman spending the night together—he knew what that implied as someone who often frequented nightlife venues. In a fit of rage, he smashed everything on his desk.
He couldn't accept that the woman he had his eyes on had been taken by someone else first.
At this moment, Kong An was already plotting how to take revenge on Lin Feng.
Meanwhile, Lin Feng remained unaware that he had been misunderstood and hated by Kong An. He continued driving, eager to reach the Lin family as soon as possible.
Ultimately, he arrived at the Lin family just in time.
At that moment, Lin Mei was already waiting for him, looking well-prepared. This woman was clearly a workaholic; based on what Lin Feng knew about her, if it weren't for unavoidable circumstances, she would have driven straight to her company instead of wasting time waiting for him here.
Lin Feng knew he had made a mistake, so he felt a sense of responsibility. As soon as he arrived at the location, he opened the car door and invited Lin Mei inside.
He even skipped the usual courtesy of greeting Lin Lao and immediately started the car.
"Lin Dong, I..." Lin Feng felt he should at least offer Lin Mei an explanation, even though this explanation would not mention that he had spent the night at Li Shuzhen's house.
Lin Feng understood that everyone has a natural curiosity, and this curiosity often leads to powerful imaginations. Clearly, he did not believe that Lin Mei was devoid of such imagination.
Thus, he thought it would be wise not to reveal the truth to Lin Mei.
After all, nothing inappropriate had happened last night. In this regard, Lin Feng was quite proud of himself; at least he hadn't done anything disgraceful.
"Drive carefully, and don't let it happen again," Lin Mei was evidently much calmer than Lin Feng had imagined. She didn't want to hear an explanation; she just wanted Lin Feng's assurance.
"It won't happen again." Upon hearing this, Lin Feng began to waver. Perhaps Lin Mei truly wouldn't indulge in any gossip, but what she thought was still her own business. He agreed nonetheless.
This was better; it spared Lin Feng from having to come up with an excuse.
He believed this was a good approach: different people require different management styles. Instead of exhausting himself trying to fabricate an excuse for being late to Lin Mei, it was better to assure her that it wouldn't happen again. After all, no matter how one tries to justify past actions, they remain in the past and hold no significance. It was better to face the future positively.
