When Lin Feng finished tidying up the house, he felt hungry and casually went to He Ting's kitchen to fry a few eggs for himself and He Ting, then called her out to have breakfast together.

"Xiao Ting, is it tough being alone out there?" Although the call came from the home landline, it was her mom on the other end.

In a sense, the support from her family's background may have only contributed so much to her career.
However, even though her family recognizes that their daughter is truly exceptional, they still believe that it is better for a girl to stay at home. If she finds it too boring, they could set up a small company for her to run, as it would be preferable for a girl to be sheltered from the harsh realities of life.

Therefore, the Lin family could only continue with a soft approach, hoping to persuade He Ting fundamentally to give up being a police officer.
But given He Ting's character, it was not easy for her to choose to give up. Thus, both sides remained at an impasse. Now, He Ting didn't even want to go home during her time off.
"Hey... girl, tonight our He family is hosting a ball. The family wants you to come home for a bit so your dad can introduce you to some people. Even if you don't give up being a police officer, you should still come back," He Mother began conveying the family's wishes.
"Mom, it's not that I don't want to come home. The last time I attended that so-called ball, I was swarmed by a bunch of flies. I won't be attending any balls or going home; I still have cases to work on," He Ting replied upon hearing Mom's words. She understood what Mom was really after. Although the family had no plans for an arranged marriage, she was already twenty-six and of marriageable age. Thus, they were always trying to introduce potential suitors for her. Given He Ting's personality, those so-called suitors introduced by the family were even feared by her brothers; how could they possibly protect her? In fact, He Ting looked down on them somewhat. Therefore, she directly rejected Mom's request.
"You little girl! You even tricked your own Mom! We all know you're currently on leave; either way, you have to come," He Mother felt truly helpless with her daughter. Fine then; since you're insistent on not coming, I'll take a firmer tone.
"Mom, there's no need to say more; I'm not going back," He Ting said firmly as she hung up the phone.
Just as she ended the call, Lin Feng's mobile phone rang.
Having just woken up and startled by He Ting earlier, Lin Feng hadn't even taken his mobile phone out yet. At this moment, it was resting on the bedside table in He Ting's room. Lin Feng hesitated about whether he should go in or not.
