As soon as we started recording, Zhang Xin's act of eating Frozen Pufferfish Meat became undeniable. If anything happened to her because of it, it wouldn't be our responsibility. After all, the Frozen Pufferfish Meat she ate wasn't given by me; she brought it herself.
I was exhausted from rushing back and quickly fell asleep. When I woke up again, it was three fourteen in the morning. In my dazed state, I vaguely saw Zhang Xin stealthily moving my small refrigerator against the wall. Seeing her sneaky behavior made me chuckle. So, I closed my eyes and decided to watch her actions with indifference.
I saw her squatting in front of my refrigerator, carefully opening the outer door before slowly reaching inside to open the smaller inner door. Her movements were very slow, but they still made noise as she searched for something. I frowned and pretended to mumble in my sleep, "Thief! Where are you running?!"
Zhang Xin was startled and immediately looked around. Seeing that I hadn't woken up, she planned to crawl over to check if I was really asleep. I gently turned to my side, holding the blanket and continued pretending to sleep. "Don't steal my roasted chicken leg! Bad girl! I'll wash you!" I mumbled again in my sleep.
I saw her let out a heavy sigh. Then, she reached into my refrigerator again and finally got what she was looking for. I heard the sound of her taking something out. "Crinkle-crackle—the sound of a packaging bag."
I yawned and went back to sleep. The next morning, the three of us got up feeling refreshed. Zhang Xin had not slept all night and ended up sleeping until noon. After class, the three of us went to the small apartment that my parents bought outside and made sushi with the leftover Frozen Pufferfish Meat, enjoying a delicious hot pot meal together.
During this time, the people in the neighboring rental unit called to report that the cooking fumes from our place were too strong. Liu Yu took a photo of us eating outside and sent it over. The other party replied with six dots. We all knew that these six dots represented speechlessness. After all, Zhang Xin had eaten Frozen Pufferfish Meat yesterday; who knew if she would have any issues from it?
The class bell rang for the last time, and Zhang Xin barely stepped into the classroom. The teacher glanced at her and let her in. She walked unsteadily, unsure if it was due to lack of sleep or the Frozen Pufferfish Meat.
The three of us exchanged knowing smiles, waiting for the show to begin. At first, the classroom was orderly; the teacher was lecturing while we listened attentively. Suddenly, Zhang Xin jumped up from her seat. The teacher was startled and paused the lesson, asking her what was wrong.
Zhang Xin's eyes widened as she began to babble nonsensically: "Ah, the stars, the stars are coming out!" As she spoke, she pointed at the white dots on the blackboard and pretended to catch stars. The people around her were taken aback and quickly moved back.
Zhang Xin then put her hands behind her back, hunched over like an old lady, looking left and right while making "owoo owoo" sounds. Her antics frightened everyone; students began to flee, and chaos erupted in the classroom.
"What's wrong with her?"
"I don't know; could she be mentally ill?"
"Let's get out of here; this is too scary!"
The murmurs grew louder as Zhang Xin suddenly charged at two boys, slamming their desks with force. "Damn monkeys, give me back my bananas!" she shouted hoarsely. The two boys were so scared they didn't dare move, while Zhang Xin kicked and clawed at them until they screamed in pain.
Although the people around were angry, they did not dare to resist. The two boys fled in a panic, scrambling away.
