My Good Classmate 9: Bite Back

I searched online, and the first result was a news article about an elderly woman in the city who mistakenly picked her neighbor's Narcissus, leading to her entire family getting poisoned. They later won a compensation claim. We exchanged glances, momentarily at a loss for words. 0

In the afternoon professional class, I encountered Zhang Xin again. Upon seeing me, she launched into her usual moral coercion. "Zhou Xin, I'm begging you, have pity on me!" 0

"If you want me to feel sorry for you, you need to let me know what happened," I asked innocently. Zhang Xin looked like she was about to cry but held back her tears. 0

"If you're out of your mind, go see a doctor and stop bothering me," I said sincerely while looking at her. 0

Zhang Xin angrily pointed at me, "I'm perfectly fine! I have no illness!" 0

"Then why do you keep saying that I caused your family to end up in the hospital?" 0

Zhang Xin shouted, "That Frozen Pufferfish Meat of yours is poison! You want to kill me!" Her voice was loud enough to attract the attention of nearby classmates. 0

"What's wrong with her?" 0

"Yeah, she's acting like a lunatic." 0

"She's not crazy; she's just a thief!" 0

"I can't believe I even voted for her for the Inspirational Youth Award; she should have received the Best Thief Award instead." 0

Just as Zhang Xin was about to retort, I quickly interjected, "Everyone, let's not say things like that. She might just be having a moment of weakness or something serious might have happened at home that caused her to act this way. Let's show some understanding." 0

"Zhou Xin, you little witch!" Zhang Xin's face turned red with anger. 0

"How can you say that about me? It's you! You brought that Frozen Pufferfish Meat that harmed my family! You need to take responsibility!" 0

I asked in confusion, "How am I supposed to take responsibility? You claim that Frozen Pufferfish Meat is mine; how can you prove it?" 0

"You fell asleep, and I took it from your fridge," Zhang Xin said confidently. 0
"So, did you steal it yourself, or did you do it while I was asleep?" 0
"What does it matter?" Zhang Xin asked. 0
I sighed and said, "If you want to extort money, just say so. Why go through all this?" 0
"You're talking nonsense," Zhang Xin wanted to retort but was interrupted by the teacher. 0
The teacher walked over and asked in confusion, "Why is everyone standing around? Aren't you going to prepare for class?" 0
The surrounding classmates chimed in to explain the situation to the teacher. 0
The teacher's expression darkened as he said to Zhang Xin, "Zhang Xin, if you're in trouble, you can seek help from the school. Don't resort to this kind of behavior to ask others for help; what's the difference between that and begging?" 0
The teacher spoke earnestly, "If someone in your family is poisoned, you can ask the school for assistance. The school will definitely help you. Don't make things difficult for your classmates; they are not obligated to help." 0
Zhang Xin turned pale at the reprimand and couldn't utter a word. 0
Zhang Xin followed the teacher away. 0
When we returned to our rented apartment, we found signs of having been rummaged through. 0
"Did Zhang Xin come here?" Li Yu asked. 0
I picked up my CC Camellia Perfume and said, "Given the state of this place, she probably did. She might not know that I'm almost out of this perfume, so she added a bit more." 0
"My necklace is missing!" Li Yu exclaimed. 0
"My sweater is gone too!" Liu Yu added. 0
"Is she trying to steal everything from us?" Li Yu said angrily. 0
"This is too much!" Liu Yu was on the verge of tears from anger. 0
"Zhou Xin, let's call the police!" Li Yu suggested. 0
I shook my head and replied, "No way. Last time she got away with it; calling the police won't help this time either. She'll just steal again." 0

"What should we do?" Liu Yu looked at me helplessly. 0
"How about letting the school handle it?" Li Yu asked. 0
I shook my head again, "That's not an option either. We don't have any evidence to prove that she stole our things. If she claims we're slandering her, then we'll end up being the ones attacked." 0
