Ruyi Inn is a two-story wooden building located at the easternmost edge of Qingfeng Town, backed by the Grand Canal, with a clear stream flowing in front, creating a beautiful environment.
After we checked into the inn and settled into our rooms, we took a short rest before heading out to find something to eat.
As I stepped out of the inn, I noticed a nearby restaurant called Azure Wind Tavern. It was also a two-story wooden structure, elegantly decorated.
Yuan Bufei looked at the tavern and said with a smile, "This place looks nice; let's eat here today."
I nodded and replied, "Sounds good."
We entered the tavern and found a table to sit at.
A waiter approached us, smiling as he asked, "What would you like to eat, gentlemen?"
I looked at him and asked, "What are your specialties?"
The waiter replied with a grin, "To be honest, our most famous dishes are Steamed Shad, Osmanthus Rice Balls, Rainbow Shrimp, Dongpo Pork, Beggar's Chicken, Sweet and Sour Ribs, Braised Pork Trotters, Steamed Beef with Rice Flour, and Braised Lion's Head. Would you like to try some?"
Upon hearing this, Yuan Bufei was nearly drooling and said, "Let's have them all."
The waiter chuckled and said, "Alright, please wait a moment." With that, he turned and walked away.
We waited for a while, and then the waiter came in with trays of dishes, soon filling the table.
I looked at the food on the table, smiled slightly, and said, "It's quite a feast."
Yuan Bufei chuckled, "It looks pretty good."
Sister Thirteen laughed and said, "Then I won't hold back." With that, she picked up her chopsticks, grabbed a piece of Shad, and put it in her mouth.
The Shad was delicious, with tender meat that melted in the mouth; it was very tasty.
Sister Thirteen couldn't help but exclaim, "Wow, this is really good!"
Hearing Sister Thirteen's words, Yuan Bufei and the others also picked up their chopsticks and started eating.
I grabbed a piece of rib, took a bite, and found it crispy and flavorful; it was quite delicious.
I nodded and said, "Really nice."
As we ate and chatted, the atmosphere was very pleasant.
After eating two pieces of rib, I looked at them and said calmly, "I have a plan."
The restaurant was quite spacious, with over a hundred tables upstairs and downstairs. It had everything: kitchen, storage room, accounting office, guest rooms, firewood room, etc. Moreover, its location was excellent—right in the center of town, with the market just outside.
I glanced at the attendant and said, "Call your Shopkeeper over; I have something to discuss with him."
The attendant looked a bit surprised and asked, "What can I do for you, sir?"
I replied calmly, "Just bring him here; I have my own arrangements."
After hesitating for a moment, the attendant nodded and turned to leave.
After a while, a middle-aged man in his forties approached me. He looked at me, cupped his hands in greeting, and smiled, "I am the Shopkeeper of this tavern. I heard that you were looking for me?"
I looked at him and said, "You are the Shopkeeper here?"
The man nodded and replied, "Yes, my surname is Zhang. You can call me Xiao Zhang."
I continued to look at him and asked, "How is business at this tavern?"
Zhang the Manager gave a wry smile and said, "To be honest, business isn't very good. I only make a few dozen coins a day."
I replied calmly, "I will rent this tavern from you for one hundred taels of silver a day. How does that sound?"
Zhang the Manager was taken aback by my words, staring at me in shock. "What? One hundred taels a day?"
