In the deep depths of the forest, the two were at a stalemate, and everything around them fell into a dead silence. Only the occasional rumble of thunder in the distance and the pitter-patter of rain accompanied them. Whenever lightning struck, in the brief illumination, the fierce faces of the two became clear. Da Shan, covered in blood, his expression contorted like a wild beast, his eyes revealing a ferocious and ruthless glint, locked onto Edric. Edric, on the other hand, was covered in abrasions, the dried blood at the corner of his mouth particularly striking.
Edric took a deep breath, trying to calm his mind. He was the first to break the silence, his voice sounding somewhat hoarse but resolute, " Da Shan, if we continue like this, neither of us will have a good outcome. We might both die in this forest, quietly swallowed by the rain and mud."
Da Shan He gritted his teeth, breathing heavily, but didn't speak. He just tightly clenched his fists, as if trying to control his anger.
Edric continued, "I'm willing to apologize. Let's put an end to today's events. Once everything has calmed down, I will personally apologize to you. Life is precious and shouldn't be consumed here due to momentary impulse and misunderstanding."
In his words, Edric's eyes revealed a hint of sincerity and hope. He didn't want to lose his life in this dispute of pride, and he didn't want to see the person in front of him, who was persistently chasing him, walk towards death because of temporary hatred.
But Da Shan's eyes remained indifferent, his body seemed somewhat stiff, his breathing still rapid, seemingly untouched by Edric's words. His eyes were filled with intense anger and unyielding spirit.
At this moment, time seemed to freeze, and the thunder of the storm seemed to fade away, leaving only the sound of two people's breathing and heartbeat in the rain, echoing in this dark forest. Edric was filled with uncertainty, not knowing what would happen next, only able to continue waiting in this unease and anticipation.
Accompanied by the muffled thunder, Da Shan's indifferent response pierced Edric's heart. The cold rain mixed with the blood on his face dripped down, while Da Shan's eyes showed only coldness and murderous intent. Through gritted teeth, he said, "No! Edric, today is your day to die." His voice echoed in the darkness of the forest, each word feeling like a pronouncement of death, sending a deep chill through Edric.
"You're dead!" Da Shan roared again, his body like a moving Da Shan, charging madly towards Edric. Edric didn't have time to think, only feeling a huge force sending him flying, his body arcing through the air and crashing heavily onto the damp soil. Every corner of his body was in agonizing pain, almost making it hard to breathe, but he knew that if he didn't fight, death would be the only outcome.
Edric felt every muscle resisting, but he still struggled to support his body and stood up. He tightly gripped the fist-sized stone in his hand, it was his only weapon at the moment, and his hope. Da Shan once again lunged at him without hesitation, his vicious fist whistling straight towards Edric's face. Edric saw Da Shan's fist about to hit his face in an instant, he tightly held the stone in his hand and desperately smashed it towards Da Shan's face.
But Da Shan seemed to have anticipated it, his reaction was faster than expected, and he quickly stopped Edric's attack. Da Shan's strength was so powerful that Edric's wrist almost broke, unable to move. A hint of a smirk flashed in Da Shan's eyes, and he fiercely punched towards Edric again, this time, Edric couldn't dodge it.
In this life-and-death moment, suddenly, a bolt of lightning tore through the sky, illuminating the entire forest, as well as Da Shan's fierce face and Edric's despairing eyes. At that moment, time seemed to freeze, leaving only the fury of the thunderstorm and the two men's desire for survival intertwined in the darkness. The lightning's light shone in Da Shan's cruel eyes, making his gaze even more ferocious, while Edric struggled to find hope in despair.
Edric was swaying after being hit, and the woodland became slippery due to the rain. Finally, he slipped to the ground. Edric lay on the ground, struggling to get up, but because it was too slippery and his body was injured, he couldn't get up. Da Shan saw this and walked over slowly, pressing down on Edric and starting to punch him, one punch after another.
Edric felt the pain of every punch hitting his face, as if stones were hitting his heart. Each blow made his head heavier and his body weaker. His face was already so battered that it was almost unrecognizable. But Da Shan didn't stop punching, his eyes filled with rage and regret, as if trying to release all his anger in this way.
The rain mixed with blood flowed down woodland's face, and the cold earth made him feel like he was lying in the embrace of death. The rain hit his face like icy blades, piercing his soul. He struggled to break free, but every effort seemed so insignificant. His body no longer felt any pain, only despair and helplessness in his heart.
Da Shan continued to rain down punches, and Edric's consciousness began to blur. His thoughts drifted far away, to the past days, the dreams and hopes, the smiles and tears lost in time. Every memory seemed to mock his incompetence and weakness. He wanted to shout, to struggle, but he couldn't do anything. His tears mixed with the rain, sliding down the cold earth, disappearing into the dark night.
He didn't know how much time had passed, only that every second felt as long as a century. His heart was filled with hatred, for the Da Shan, for fate, for himself. He felt life slipping away bit by bit, and Da Shan's fist seemed to be the messenger of death, pushing him step by step towards the abyss of death. In this endless pain and despair, Edric's consciousness gradually blurred, darkened, until it was blank.
