Calculating the situation, the Wan Jian Sect has some grievances with Xu Feng, but it cannot be denied that Gao Jingsong owes Xu Feng a life. Although the Modern Clerk does not have laws, cultivation emphasizes a state of mind and Wu Wei, which means acting without attachment. If one receives kindness from others and does not repay it, it will create inner demons that are detrimental to future cultivation.
Hua Buyi once teamed up with Li Si to rob Xu Feng's Three Blades Inn. After Xu Feng established his foundation, he killed Li Chang there, thus resolving a grudge with Hua Buyi.
After a few steps, they arrived at Hua Buyi's inn. The establishment had been renovated and the Hua Family sign was removed, replaced with "Xu Family Garden." The original owner, Boss Xu Qian, had become the behind-the-scenes owner of this inn.
Hua Buyi seemed to have received news and had brought several assistants to wait at the inn's entrance. Upon seeing Xu Feng approach, he hurriedly welcomed him and flattered, "Xu Xianshi, it's been ten years since we last met, and your strength has greatly increased! Hua Buyi is here to congratulate you." As a mortal, Hua Buyi had no way of knowing whether Xu Feng's power had truly grown.
Xu Feng nodded and asked, "Where is Father?" In his eyes, Hua Buyi was nothing more than an insignificant insect; there was no need for him to deal with him anymore.
"Old Master Xu enjoys peace and quiet; he lives alone ten miles away at Xixin Studio. Someone has already gone to inform him," Hua Buyi quickly replied. "Over the years, I have always shown great respect to Old Master Xu and dared not neglect him in any way. He is in good health and growing stronger..." Hua Buyi wished he could make Xu Qian youthful again.
"I'll leave immediately; there's no need to disturb him." Xu Feng turned around and patted Zhu Wubai on the shoulder, channeling a surge of spiritual energy into him. "Zhu Wubai, Father is getting old; let him live in peace."
With Xu Feng's pat, Zhu Wubai felt a powerful force surge into his body. His long-dormant Dantian was revitalized, and he unexpectedly broke through to become a higher-level cultivator in that moment. His powerful true energy filled his Meridians, making him feel calm and invigorated as if bathed in spring breeze.
Zhu Wubai knelt down with a thud and said, "Zhu Wubai thanks Xianshi for the rebirth grace. Rest assured, as long as I have half my life left, Old Master Xu will not suffer even a bit." He had instantly advanced to a high-level cultivator and was now among the top mortals in Beast Reject City.
Hua Buyi watched enviously but dared not show it; he could only congratulate him: "Congratulations, Captain Zhu!"
"Why hasn't anyone from Wan Jian Sect come?" Xu Feng was already a Golden Core Cultivator and his spiritual awareness had greatly increased compared to before. Within ten zhang (approximately 33 feet), as long as someone wasn't deliberately hiding their presence, Xu Feng would sense them. However, this time there were no signs of any cultivators.
Hua Buyi replied, "To answer Xianshi's question, the cultivators from Wan Jian Sect come to Beast Reject City at the beginning of every month. However, for some unknown reason, they haven't come for three months now."
"Three months?" Xu Feng calculated the time in his mind and couldn't help but feel alarmed. He thought to himself: "Could it be that Nine Dragon Pool has acted so quickly?"
The Wan Jian Sect is closest to Beast Reject City; when people from Nine Dragon Pool emerge from Beast Wasteland, they would first encounter Wan Jian Sect. If those thirty or so cultivators acted together, Wan Jian Sect would undoubtedly be occupied and controlled.
A sense of ominous foreboding surged within him.
Something must have happened at Wan Jian Sect; their actions were too swift. Next to Wan Jian Sect is New Moon Sect; it is highly likely that they will be the next to fall under control.
Xu Feng originally planned to visit the New Moon Sect to inform Qiu Wuling about the Nine Dragon Pool's entry into the Liuxiang Kingdom, but he arrived too late.
He wondered if the New Moon Sect had received the information and whether it was under the control of the Nine Dragon Pool like the Wan Jian Sect. He also questioned if Cai Shujun was involved...
Thinking this, Xu Feng wasted no more time. He summoned his Flying Sword and shot off. Zhu Wubai and the others only saw Xu Feng flash and step onto his Flying Sword, disappearing into thin air.
Having advanced to the Golden Core stage, Xu Feng had far fewer concerns. With everyone watching, he could escape on his Flying Sword without fear of being seen; after all, there were very few cultivators capable of interfering with Golden Core actions. Relying on his abundant spiritual power, Xu Feng flew over a thousand miles in one breath.
As darkness gradually fell, Xu Feng retracted his Flying Sword and spread his Wings of the Strange Dragon, transforming into a black meteor against the night sky.
As he flew, he occasionally spotted other cultivators hurrying along the same path. Strangely enough, they were headed in the same direction as Xu Feng, mostly Foundation Establishment Practitioners, but there were also some powerful Golden Core Cultivators among them. Most of these individuals were solitary cultivators without any sect affiliation, all wearing serious expressions as if they were rushing to handle something significant.
By the second morning, Xu Feng arrived at the mountain gate of the New Moon Sect: Wangyue Peak.
Returning to the New Moon Sect, Xu Feng couldn't help but feel nostalgic. Twelve years ago, he had fled here with shallow cultivation, oppressed by Guo Manman, and had nearly died several times at the hands of Guo Xiangqian.
Now, in just twelve years, Xu Feng had become a Golden Core Cultivator. The mountain gate of the New Moon Sect remained unchanged, but Xu Feng was no longer the same person he once was.
Gently landing on the Training Ground of the New Moon Sect, a team of Refining Qi disciples noticed a Golden Core Cultivator visiting from afar and hurried over to pay their respects. One leading disciple said, "Senior, greetings! May I ask how you are addressed and what brings you to the New Moon Sect? I can report to the Outer Sect."
"Xu Feng seeks an audience with Elder Qiu Wuling of the New Moon Sect." Xu Feng knew that Qiu Wuling's Mistaken Sword Hall was not located at Wangyue Peak; after establishing Mistaken Sword Hall, Qiu Wuling had opened up another peak five miles away from Wangyue Peak and named it Xiyue Peak. However, as an outsider visiting, he still needed to convey his message through the main gate.
"Please wait a moment, Senior; I will report right away." The leading disciple's voice grew increasingly shaky as he spoke those few words before leaving with trembling legs.
Xu Feng was intrigued by the disciple's strange behavior and focused his gaze. Suddenly, he understood.
The leading disciple was actually Guo Manman, who had bullied Xu Feng back in the day.
Guo Manman clearly lost her composure upon recognizing Xu Feng. After the battle in Mist City where Xu Feng slaughtered various sect Foundation Establishment Practitioners, his reputation had soared. Later in Xian City, it was revealed that Xu Feng was a disciple of the New Moon Sect. During Xu Feng's decade-long retreat, his name became synonymous with greatness beneath the Golden Core stage.
As a disciple of the New Moon Sect, Guo Manman naturally knew Xu Feng's background. He recalled how he had deliberately suppressed Xu Feng in the past, and how his uncle, Guo Xiangqian, had even sent disciples from the Rage War Hall to find opportunities to kill Xu Feng. Unexpectedly, Xu Feng had survived numerous assassination attempts and, within just two years, successfully established his foundation. Now, he had even formed a Golden Core and risen to become a High-Level Cultivator of Liuxiang Xian Dao.
Since Guo Xiangqian's death, the benefits Guo Manman received had dwindled significantly. The people who used to support him were no longer around. Without backing, Guo Manman's mediocre talent had led to stagnation in his cultivation. Twelve years had passed, and he was still stuck at the eighth layer of Qi Refining, unable to enter the Outer Sect, merely serving as a head of the outer sect rotation.
When Xu Feng introduced himself, Guo Manman initially thought he was another cultivator with the same name. However, upon closer inspection, he realized it was indeed his former "enemy," Xu Feng. This revelation made Guo Manman lose his composure.
Xu Feng had killed many during several Great Wars and had Qiu Wuling backing him. Killing Guo Manman would be as easy as crushing an ant.
The more Guo Manman thought about it, the more fearful he became. The nearby disciples noticed his unease and turned their gazes toward Xu Feng. These disciples ranged from the third to seventh layers of Qi Refining; some were from the same batch as Xu Feng and recognized him, their expressions varying.
One disciple who had bullied Xu Feng alongside Guo Manman felt deep regret and turned pale with fear. Others who had no past grievances with Xu Feng flushed with excitement. Xu Feng's reputation for slaughtering enemies had unwittingly garnered him considerable support among the disciples, many of whom dreamed of avenging wrongs like Xu Feng.
Xu Feng remained silent, and the disciples dared not speak. Guo Manman wasn't inherently bad; he was just young and impulsive, inadvertently pushing Xu Feng into a corner. Xu Feng killing his uncle could be seen as a lesson for him.
After a while, a disciple stepped forward—not Guo Manman—but approached Xu Feng and whispered, "Senior, Elder Qiu is currently in the hall discussing matters. Elder Qiu has asked me to invite you to participate in the discussion."
"Invite me to participate in the discussion?" Xu Feng thought he misheard. This was an internal matter of the New Moon Sect; what did he have to do with it?
"Elder Qiu requests your presence," the disciple reiterated. "Please follow me."
Following the disciple inside, they took several turns and walked for quite a distance before arriving at the New Moon Sect's conference hall. Although Xu Feng had been at the New Moon Sect for a few months, he had never been inside and did not know where the conference hall was located.
The hall was not large; it was usually where elders and hall masters held discussions. However, it was currently packed with representatives from all Six Major Sects—at least four or five dozen people in total.
The cultivators sat on either side while leaving a two-meter-wide aisle in the middle. At the end of this aisle sat Chu Wushang with a serious expression and slightly pale complexion, while Qiu Wuling sat on Chu Wushang's left side with a stern demeanor.
The meeting seemed to have just encountered a challenging topic; everyone was silent as they contemplated their thoughts.
The guiding disciple did not dare to speak and bowed at the entrance. Upon seeing Xu Feng arrive, Qiu Wuling gestured for him to take a seat nearby.
Xu Feng bowed slightly and sat down on the cushion at the left side of the entrance. Next to Xu Feng were several Golden Core Cultivators from Guo Shan Jian Xing.
Xu Feng's arrival caught the attention of the other sect cultivators present, but no one recognized him. Seeing that Xu Feng was allowed to participate in the discussion, they dared not look down on him.
Xu Feng was even more astonished; with just a glance, he noticed that everyone participating in the meeting was at least at the Mid-Stage of Golden Core. He, being at the Early Stage of Golden Core, had become the lowest-ranked among them.
In addition to the Six Major Sects, there were three other groups present. Judging by their composition, they were certainly not insignificant figures. One group that Xu Feng recognized was from Black Wind Stronghold. However, Half-Dead Bao was absent, and he had never seen these Golden Core Cultivators before, so he could only identify them by their attire.
On each side sat five groups of cultivators, each consisting of five people, all of whom were Golden Core Cultivators. The six elders from New Moon Sect were also seated on either side of Chu Wushang.
It turned out that everyone present was at the elder level? This seemed serious.
Sure enough, a cultivator from Wan Jian Sect broke the silence first. "Our Wan Jian Sect has over four hundred members, and aside from the Sect Master and Grand Elder, we are left with only five of us. All others have been captured by Nine Dragon Pool. If we do not unite with Liuxiang Xian Dao, we will be picked off one by one by Nine Dragon Pool and ultimately become their subordinates."
Nine Dragon Pool had indeed come for them, targeting Wan Jian Sect as a demonstration!
