The vines trembled and trees fell, while flocks of birds flew in chaos. The Black Bear quickly charged into the encirclement of A Qi with Xiang Ge.
A Qi leaped onto a tree with Xu Feng, while Azure Bull and the Silver Wolf retreated into the surrounding forest, silencing their presence. Beasts below the Sixth Level gathered around the Red-Maned Lion.
The Red-Maned Lion stood proudly on a boulder, its shadow elongated by the lake, appearing even larger and more formidable.
The Black Bear rushed in first, making strange noises as it hid behind the Red-Maned Lion, a deep gash over half a foot long bleeding profusely on its shoulder.
Dozens of trees were sliced down by a flash of sword light, and the disheveled Xiang Ge appeared before the Red-Maned Lion, wielding the massive Crack Sword that radiated a twenty-meter aura. His eyes were blood-red, exuding a murderous intent.
The Red-Maned Lion was intimidated by Xiang Ge's Killer God-like appearance, trembling on its feet atop the stone. It was no wonder it couldn't hold its ground; Xiang Ge had led the Nine Dragon Pool members to Liuxiang Kingdom expecting an easy victory, only to suffer total defeat and sustain serious injuries. Now this group of Sixth-Level Monsters was coming to attack a drowning dog.
"Beast!" Xiang Ge glared at the Red-Maned Lion and scolded fiercely, "You dare defy my commands and kill my Disciples? Are you out of your mind or just plain foolish? A beast is still a beast; knowing you shouldn't act recklessly, yet you insist on jumping into danger."
Finally regaining its composure amidst the scolding, the Red-Maned Lion opened its mouth and let out a roar, sending visible sound waves toward Xiang Ge. This was the Red-Maned Lion's Divine Ability; when the Nine Dragon Pool first arrived with thirty-six members, one was killed instantly by that roar.
Furious, Xiang Ge declared, "Since you seek death so eagerly, I will send you on your way!" He slashed the Crack Sword through the air, shattering the sound waves with one strike. The massive sword shadow continued unabated toward the Red-Maned Lion's head.
Xiang Ge aimed to sever the Red-Maned Lion's lion head with one blow.
Having been severely beaten by Xiang Ge before, the Red-Maned Lion had lingering fears. Seeing the giant sword coming down, it instinctively forgot to dodge and raised its right palm to block it against the Sky, closing its eyes to take the blow head-on.
With a thunderous crash, the Red-Maned Lion opened its eyes to find Xiang Ge's sword shadow had vanished, and the surrounding Sixth-Level Monsters had retreated far away.
A cold light flashed across the Sky as a five-meter-long Silver Wolf appeared before the Red-Maned Lion. Its silver fur accentuated its graceful form, appearing ethereal and agile.
"Ethereal Light Slash, good!" Xiang Ge's expression turned extremely grim as a Seventh-Level Monster emerged midway through his attack. Its first move shattered his sword energy; this newcomer was not friendly.
While not among the top beasts of Seventh-Level Monsters, the Silver Wolf could still contend with Xiang Ge at his peak. Now severely injured and at less than half his usual strength, Xiang Ge found that when the Silver Wolf struck, it easily crushed his sword shadow and saved the Red-Maned Lion's life.
Xiang Ge couldn't understand where this silver wolf had come from. According to the classification of monsters, a Seventh-Level Monster would not deign to enter the territory of a Sixth-Level Monster, as it would not benefit their training. Yet, this beast had appeared and even saved the Red-Maned Lion.
"Snowy Silver Wolf, we have no enmity between us. There's no need for a fight to the death. I'm just passing through and hope you can grant me safe passage," Xiang Ge said, lowering his stance, aware that he was no match for the wolf. He knew that while the silver wolf might not speak human language, it could certainly understand him with the intellect of a Seventh-Level Monster.
The silver wolf raised its front paw and slashed at the sky, unleashing a bolt of Ethereal Light that served as its best response to Xiang Ge.
Xiang Ge quickly dodged, feeling the Ethereal Light graze his shoulder as it shot into a tree behind him, leaving a crescent-shaped hole. He hadn't expected the silver wolf to be so direct. Looking at the location of the Teleportation Array, he realized that forcing his way through was impossible. Fortunately, the Teleportation Array had not been destroyed; only the spirit stones on top had been taken.
Could someone have come here before? This place was very secluded; without a map, Xiang Ge wouldn't have found it himself. Who would come here?
There was no time to ponder further as the silver wolf launched its second wave of attacks. With both claws striking out, four bolts of Ethereal Light flew toward him. Xiang Ge swung his longsword, slicing through the four beams of light that scattered into the wind. However, he was still shaken by the powerful beastly energy, worsening his internal injuries.
Xiang Ge dared not linger any longer and turned to leap away, trying to escape this dangerous place.
Suddenly, darkness enveloped him as if a mountain had appeared right in front of him. A massive body blocked most of his retreat route, with two long black horns stretching three meters long gleaming ominously at Xiang Ge.
"The Azure Bull!" Xiang Ge nearly stumbled in fright. The Azure Bull was known to be a mount of an ancient powerful being with unfathomable magical abilities. He hadn't expected to encounter its descendants in the Beast Wasteland.
With the Azure Bull's defensive capabilities, even standing still would make it difficult for Xiang Ge to defeat it at this moment. He hesitated with his giant sword; should he attack or not? He considered whether to say a few polite words to persuade the Azure Bull to let him pass but quickly dismissed that thought upon recalling the silver wolf's attitude.
The simultaneous appearance of two Seventh-Level Monsters indicated that this situation was far from simple and unlikely to end well.
Escape!
Xiang Ge surged upward, attempting to flee this perilous area. The silver wolf followed closely behind and unleashed more Ethereal Light strikes from above. It was faster than the Azure Bull and darted like a white lightning bolt across the dark Beast Wasteland, blocking Xiang Ge's path.
As Xiang Ge was attacked by the silver wolf and fell from the sky, he caught sight of A Qi and Xu Feng in the distance during his descent.
Indeed, there was someone. Xiang Ge did not recognize Xu Feng, but with a light sweep, he already knew that Xu Feng was merely at the Early Stage of Golden Core cultivation. Such strength was nothing in his eyes; he could crush several with just a finger.
Now, this insignificant figure was commanding two Seventh-Level Monsters to ambush him. As for the large yellow-headed sparrow beside him...
Is that the Royal Sparrow? Oh! It’s actually the Royal Sparrow!
Xiang Ge understood his predicament. With a flying and battle-capable Royal Sparrow in the sky and two strong and fast Seventh-Level Monsters on the ground, it was a deadlock; there was no way to escape.
“Who are you? I am from Zheguo's Nine Dragon Pool,” Xiang Ge declared his identity, shouting towards Xu Feng's direction, hoping to put some pressure on him.
“Kill!” This human still gave him face, responding with a single word.
“Mo!”
“Howl!”
“Ah!”
Three voices echoed from the forest as Xiang Ge fought desperately against the two Seventh-Level Monsters. His giant sword swept across, knocking down countless trees as he moved.
The Azure Bull created a pit with every step; each stomp could crush Xiang Ge ten times over. Its horns were hardly needed; dealing with Xiang Ge, who was barely alive at the Mid Stage of Nascent Soul, did not require them.
The Silver Wolf became the main offensive force, moving swiftly around Xiang Ge while unleashing Ethereal Light slashes. He had to worry about the bull's hooves while also guarding against the Silver Wolf. He had just fought Hua Fengxiao in a great war for three nights; although he had severely injured his opponent, he himself was not lightly wounded and could hardly withstand attacks from two monsters of the same level.
“Puff! Crash!” In less than ten minutes, Xiang Ge was once again sent flying, crashing through two trees.
The Red-Maned Lion waited eagerly on the side, ready to pounce and tear him to shreds as soon as Xiang Ge lost his fighting capability.
The giant sword of Xiang Ge no longer emitted the previous ten-zhang-long brilliance; its sword energy had dimmed, indicating that the spiritual power within Xiang Ge was rapidly depleting.
"Fine, if you want to die, I will grant your wish." Xiang Ge spat blood as he struggled to rise. "You two beasts, you will both die, you will both die!" Xiang Ge fiercely pointed at Azure Bull and the Silver Wolf.
Azure Bull snorted hot air through its nostrils, its formidable defense making it fearless. In the face of Xiang Ge's threats, it treated him as if he were merely talking nonsense.
However, the Silver Wolf hesitated slightly; its keen instincts sensed danger.
In the distance, A Qi observed clearly and let out a warning howl to alert its two companions.
Unfortunately, it was too late.
Desperate, Xiang Ge suddenly became invigorated, and Crack Sword shone brightly. He pointed the giant sword upward, and a row of sharp swords suddenly appeared above his head—eighteen swords, each one an Inferior Magical Artifact.
The eighteen sharp swords circled above Xiang Ge's head for a moment before scattering, forming a larger sword circle that enclosed Azure Bull and the Silver Wolf.
The eighteen swords spun rapidly, ready to strike at any moment; this was indeed a Sword Formation.
Azure Bull turned its massive body and finally felt the impending crisis. The Silver Wolf leaped back and forth, searching for a gap in the Sword Formation.
Xiang Ge's face turned as white as paper; he opened his mouth and spat out a mouthful of blood. Pressing down on the giant sword, he shouted, "Gale Sword Formation, kill!"
In an instant, the eighteen spinning swords descended like a rain of blades, densely falling toward Azure Bull and the Silver Wolf.
"Ugh!" Azure Bull was too large to evade; it swung its tail and horns like the wind to block the descending swords. The blades struck against its horns and were deflected one by one, but the eighteen swords flew up and down tirelessly, stabbing and slashing relentlessly. Azure Bull could dodge one sword but not ten.
"Poof poof," Azure Bull was hit by two swords in the first round of attacks; the blades sliced open its belly, dragging its snow-white intestines onto the ground. Severely injured, Azure Bull fell to the ground; with another round of sword rain, it would be cut into steaks.
The Silver Wolf was not in a much better state, with its right paw and left leg each pierced by a sword. It stood in a defiant posture, anxiously watching Sky's Flying Sword.
Xiang Ge's Gale Sword Formation had only unleashed one strike, yet it severely injured two Seventh-Level Monsters. Xu Feng watched from a distance, his heart racing; if he were trapped inside, he feared he would have been reduced to nothing but minced flesh by now.
What kind of treasure is the Gale Sword Formation? Is it really a treasure?
The giant sword wielded by Xiang Ge moved again, causing eighteen swords to spin in Sky, but they did not descend. Xiang Ge spat out a mouthful of blood, his eyes losing their luster; he was no longer able to activate the Sword Formation.
At that moment, A Qi's attack finally arrived. A ball of purple flames surged forward, and Xiang Ge, unable to evade, was completely engulfed.
There was no roar; Xiang Ge slowly sat down cross-legged. A white humanoid Light and Shadow jumped out from above Xiang Ge, only to be quickly consumed by A Qi's purple flames, dissipating into thin air.
As Xiang Ge sat there, he gradually turned to ash, leaving behind a green ring and a set of Treasure Armor.
The eighteen Flying Swords that had been spinning in the air fell weakly to the ground, and the Gale Sword Formation was thus broken.
