"What does it matter if a mere kid is offended? President Ye, I think I understand now why you refused to marry into the Song family. This kid must be your daughter's suitor, right?" Song Zihau sneered, feeling somewhat displeased.
Ye Xinru's defense of Jiang Chen and his association with Ye Ming made people speculate.
Feeling awkward, Ye Xinru honestly wished for Jiang Chen to be her son-in-law, but he simply wasn't interested.
"Mr. Jiang is my daughter's mentor; please don't jump to conclusions. Today's apprenticeship banquet is for this reason," Ye Xinru explained.
"This kid, what qualifications does he have to be your daughter's mentor? President Ye, you are usually so sharp; how could you be so foolish? We have Master Chen in Gusu; why would you choose someone like him as your daughter's mentor? It’s simply laughable," Song Zihau remarked.
"Manager Song, we've done business for decades. It seems you still don't understand me. Mr. Jiang's abilities are beyond your imagination," Ye Xinru said with a hint of amusement. Did she really look like someone who would let just anyone mentor her daughter?
"President Ye, let's not discuss that anymore. I want to know if you agree to the marriage proposal or not," Song Zihau asked, his demeanor still arrogant.
Ye Xinru didn't answer immediately but turned to Ye Ming.
"Ming'er, Manager Song's son likes you; do you like him?" Ye Xinru asked.
Ye Ming shook her head.
"Manager Song, as you can see, my daughter is unwilling. There's nothing we can do about it; let's not bring up the marriage proposal again," Ye Xinru said.
Song Zihau's face darkened significantly. Many families in Gusu wanted to marry their daughters into the Song family, but today he had taken the initiative to propose a union with the Ye family only to be publicly rejected, which left him feeling humiliated.
"Ye Xinru, this is what you said. I hope you won't regret it later. My son being interested in your daughter is a blessing for your family. Since you don't appreciate it, don't come begging me later," Song Zihau said in a low voice.
Song Mingliang also wore a gloomy expression. He had hoped that by involving his parents, he could secure Ye Ming through marriage, but now he felt utterly humiliated. He was furious and blamed everything on Jiang Chen. If it weren't for Jiang Chen, Ye Ming would have been his woman.

At that time, Ishikawa Group will invest one billion into establishing a joint venture with our Song Group. By then, our family's strength will surpass yours!" Song Zihau continued to act arrogantly.
