The week of punishment quickly came to an end, and during this time, the bond among the five children deepened further.
Meanwhile, Platinum Wen's small business stabilized, gaining a small group of regular customers. Each day brought in a considerable income, and Platinum Wen treated them to several meals.
With the punishment over, life returned to normal. Ma Sanbao had already been forgotten by Liu Guanfeng, after all, he was still a child. Although he was only six years old, his actual age was nearly forty.
How could one hold grudges against a child? During this period, Bao Rui and the others used Iron Skin Soup twice more, while Liu Guanfeng himself had used it six times.
However, just as he was forgetting that unpleasant incident, one day after lunch break when he returned to class, Liu Guanfeng found an envelope on his desk. It was labeled "Challenge Letter." Upon opening it, he discovered a letter inside.
It was written by Ma Sanbao, stating that since Liu Guanfeng's people had attacked his subordinate, he wanted revenge. The challenge was set for noon three days later at the Arena next to the school playground. The letter also mentioned that if he was afraid, he could choose not to attend but would have to bow and apologize at the school gate.
In Knight Academy 6, if someone issued a challenge and did not accept it, they would be looked down upon. If Liu Guanfeng did not go to admit defeat this time, he might not even be able to stay in school anymore; the disdainful gazes would leave him feeling utterly humiliated.
The school had rules against fighting on campus; any disputes should be settled at the Arena. Weapons were prohibited there, and no one could take another's life. Knight duels were divided into Mount, individual matches, and mounted combinations. Since they were all students and weapons were not allowed, only Mount and individual matches were permitted for primary and Intermediate Academy students.
The challenge letter required each side to send out Five People, with the losing side having to bow and apologize at the Arena.
That evening, Liu Guanfeng called Bao Rui and the others into his room. He took out the letter for them to read. After finishing it, Copper Bull was furious. “Third Brother, it seems that Ma Sanbao hasn’t learned his lesson.”
Liu Guanfeng nodded: “Since he hasn’t learned his lesson, we need to make him hurt this time so that he’ll avoid us in the future.” To be honest, Liu Guanfeng was getting impatient; this person was becoming too arrogant.
After thinking for a moment, Bao Rui said: “Third Brother, the reason Ma Sanbao dares to issue a challenge might be because you and Platinum Wen are from the Special Class, which means you can’t cultivate. So they feel they can humiliate you properly at the Arena. That’s why they proposed sending out Five People. They probably have investigated us and know a bit about us.”
“Who do they think they are?” Liu Guanfeng truly did not regard Ma Sanbao as a threat.
With his current strength, although he had opened six meridians, he had already used Iron Skin Soup six times. Without using weapons, he could easily withstand attacks from not only Apprentice Knights who had opened three or four meridians but even from Senior Junior Knights who had opened twelve meridians. In other words, without weapons, Liu Guanfeng could guarantee his victory against Senior Junior Knights.
Liu Guanfeng thought for a moment and smiled again, "It's certain that they have investigated us, but they probably don't know about Iron Skin Soup. So this time, they have almost no chance of winning. I really don't know what they are thinking. Alright, the reason I called you here today is to discuss this matter. You can all go back to your rooms now, and in three days, we'll give them a surprise."
The next day when Liu Guanfeng and the others arrived at school, he noticed that everyone else was looking at him. Liu Guanfeng found it quite puzzling. It wasn't until class time that Platinum Wen informed him that everyone at the school knew he would be facing Ma Sanbao in a duel in two days.
Liu Guanfeng chuckled, "It seems Ma Sanbao is quite confident about this challenge. Otherwise, he wouldn't be so blatant in promoting it. Looks like he has some tricks up his sleeve."
During recess, the class instructor approached Liu Guanfeng to inquire about the whole situation.
Liu Guanfeng recounted the events to the instructor without holding back. The instructor did not stop him; in a society where strength is respected, challenges are quite normal. No parent or teacher would actively encourage their child to back down, as that would be seen as a sign of weakness. Chang Hong, the Instructor, simply advised Liu Guanfeng to be careful.
Liu Guanfeng smiled and thanked the teacher.
Three days passed quickly. After school on the afternoon of the duel, Liu Guanfeng did not rush to the Arena but instead took Bao Rui and three others along with Platinum Wen to the Cafeteria for a meal. After eating and resting briefly, they slowly made their way toward the Arena.
Upon arriving at the Arena, they heard someone boasting loudly:
"I bet Liu Guanfeng won't even dare to show up. He doesn't even know who my young master is—he's the most beloved son of General Ma Weiwu. What is Liu Guanfeng? My young master could crush him with just one finger."
Hearing this voice, Liu Guanfeng recognized it was the boy who looked like a monkey—Little Guy. He pushed through the crowd and found it amusing to see the monkey-like boy spitting as he spoke.
"It seems you didn't learn your lesson last time. Are you going on stage today? If you do, I'll teach you another lesson," Liu Guanfeng said disdainfully as he looked at the monkey in front of him.
"Liu Guanfeng, don't be too arrogant! Today my young master will show you what real strength is," said the monkey-like boy as he unconsciously took a step back.
"Alright, stop the nonsense. If you're going to be a dog, you need to have the mindset of a dog. Let's call out the master," Liu Guanfeng said, tilting his chin up.
"No need to shout; I'm already here." The speaker was Ma Sanbao, who pushed through the crowd to stand in front of Liu Guanfeng. "I didn't expect you to actually dare to come."
"Why wouldn't I dare? It wasn't my people who got beaten last time," Liu Guanfeng replied with a smile.
"I'll see how long you can keep being arrogant. Since your people are all here, let's get started," Ma Sanbao said resentfully.
The two of them stepped onto the Arena, where a teacher-like figure was already present. The teacher stood up and said:
"My surname is Ren, and I will be the judge for your challenge today. You can choose between a wheel battle or one-on-one duels. In a wheel battle, each side sends one person; the winning side stays on the stage while the losing side replaces their fighter until one side has lost all their members.
In a one-on-one duel, pairs fight until a winner is determined, and then the next pair comes in until one side wins three matches. What method do you choose?"
Ma Sanbao looked at Liu Guanfeng with disdain. "The challenge was proposed by me, so let them choose the method."
"Alright then, we choose the wheel battle. Get ready to be humiliated," Liu Guanfeng shot back with equal disdain at Ma Sanbao.
"Fine, you both have ten minutes to prepare. We'll start with Mount battles."
Platinum Wen had a water attribute at level ten and his Mount was a second-tier Water Type monster, a Salamander. Observing this challenge, Liu Guanfeng had no intention of letting Platinum Wen's Salamander take the stage because its level was simply too low. Therefore, he placed Platinum Wen's Salamander in fifth position.
The first to step up was Iron Bull's Rock Ape—Stone. The opponent also sent out a third-tier monster, a Wood Type monster called Moose.
As the challenge began, Stone looked just as blank as when it was first tamed, staring at Moose with a dazed expression. Moose intended to charge forward and knock Stone away, but upon seeing Stone's expression, it froze in place and stood there, staring back at Stone in confusion.
At this moment, a boy from the opposing team gave the command to attack, and Moose charged at Stone with his antlers aimed directly at him. As Moose reached Stone, he saw Stone's left arm extend in front of his chest, and a stone wall began to form from Stone's left arm. With a loud bang, Moose collided with the stone wall.
The stone wall remained unmoved. At that moment, Stone's eyes lit up, and the stone wall on his left arm vanished instantly as his left hand grasped Moose's antlers. His right fist transformed into a stone and he swung it toward Moose's head. As his right fist struck Moose, Stone released his left hand, and with a cry of despair, Little Deer was sent flying by Stone's punch, crashing heavily onto the Arena floor.
Little Deer lay there for quite some time without getting up. Meanwhile, Stone resumed his stance from when he first entered the arena, staring blankly at Little Deer lying on the ground. Suddenly, a group of people rushed over to carry Little Deer away, and the last one, a boy with an oval face, turned back and glared fiercely at little Stone.
The next opponent sent in was also a third-tier beast, a Metallic monkey resembling a Gibbon with long arms.
As the match began, the monkey jumped around Stone, using its long arms to deliver punches. However, every time it tried to hit Stone, the corresponding area would turn to stone. The monkey jumped up and down for quite some time without managing to land a hit on Stone.
Seeing that nothing worked against Stone, the monkey finally leaped high into the air with both fists raised, aiming for Stone's head. At that moment, Stone finally moved.
Stone raised both arms directly between the monkey's arms and pushed outward with force. The monkey's arms were forced apart, exposing its chest directly in front of Stone's head. With a powerful jump from his legs, a small area of petrification appeared above Stone's head—this truly made him resemble stone.
Stone's head charged straight at the little monkey with a loud thud followed by a squeak as he sent the monkey flying to the other end of the Arena with a headbutt. The little monkey attempted to stand up again but wobbled before collapsing straight down.
The opposing team was once again in disarray as they carried the little monkey off. At this moment, applause erupted from the audience for little Stone’s consecutive victories. It seemed that little Stone understood that people were cheering for him; he raised both hands and began to make sounds of excitement. Seeing his usually blank expression now filled with vanity surprised Liu Guanfeng, who shook his head repeatedly.
At this point, the third opponent entered—the Fourth Rank beast from the Earth Department: a wild boar. Since it was also from the Earth Department but one rank lower than before, little Stone had already fought two consecutive matches. Liu Guanfeng said to Iron Bull: "Go call your little Stone back; we concede this match. Little Stone has performed very well; we'll handle the rest."
After saying this, Liu Guanfeng turned to the Referee Teacher in the Arena and said: "Ren Teacher, we concede this match."
Although somewhat reluctant, Iron Bull called little Stone back. Little Stone was initially happy but became upset upon hearing he had to return. He immediately resumed his blank expression as he looked at Liu Guanfeng and ultimately walked back reluctantly.
