Ma Weiwu patted Madam Qian on the back, "Alright, go call a doctor to treat Sanbao's injuries."
After dismissing Madam Qian, Ma Weiwu sat by the bed and looked at Ma Sanbao lying there. "Sanbao, do you still remember your purpose for going to Rainfront Academy?"
Ma Sanbao nodded while lying on the bed.
"Then from what you just said, when you challenged them, there was a kid named Copper Bull who could hold his own against that Leihong?" Ma Weiwu asked.
"Yes, Father. That kid named Liu Tongniu should be Liu Guanfeng's subordinate. And I can tell that although he fought Leihong to a standstill, his injuries are not as severe as one might think. His injuries are much lighter than Leihong's."
"Hmm? So this kid not only has strength comparable to Leihong but also possesses such strong resilience?"
Ma Sanbao nodded again.
"In that case, you must not provoke Liu Guanfeng anymore, but you can approach it from other angles," Ma Weiwu said with a sly smile at his son.
"Other angles? Please clarify, Father."
"When I sent you to Rainfront Academy, I already told you that your purpose there is to recruit subordinates. If you can bring that kid Liu Tongniu under your command, then..."
"Thank you for the reminder, Father. I understand what to do. If he really becomes my subordinate, then Liu Guanfeng will have to take it out on me. By the way, besides Liu Tongniu, there's also a kid named Liu Tieniu; they should be brothers. I think that guy is not any worse than Liu Tongniu."
"He defeated two second-year students in a row. If he hadn't gone down after defeating those two, I would have probably lost even worse this time. But Father, both of them are Liu Guanfeng's subordinates; I'm afraid it won't be easy to recruit them," Ma Sanbao said pitifully while looking at his father.
Ma Weiwu looked at his Third Son and shook his head with a smile. "You little schemer. Alright, if you want to win them over, I'll pay them the price of Intermediate Knight guards. As for the benefits you offer them in advance, that's up to you to decide, but don't give too much; if you give too much, it won't be a good thing."
"I understand, Father," Ma Sanbao replied respectfully.
Madam Qian soon brought the doctor over. Under the doctor's careful treatment, Ma Sanbao's injuries healed quickly. In fact, Liu Guanfeng had been quite careful when hitting him, so his injuries were not very serious. Liu Guanfeng's main purpose at that time was simply to suppress his arrogance and instill fear in him.
Another half month passed before Ma Sanbao returned to school. Upon returning, people noticed that the usually arrogant Ma Sanbao was no longer around. Instead, they saw a low-key and non-confrontational Ma Sanbao.
After the recent challenge at the beginning of the school year, Liu Guanfeng's reputation spread throughout Rainfront Academy. Although he was just a six-year-old freshman in Junior Academy First Grade, his father was the City Defense General of Rain City, a figure who stood on equal footing with the lord of Rain City. Therefore, his seemingly arrogant words did not bring him any trouble.
On the contrary, it made his friends less likely to be bullied, especially Platinum Wen. When everyone learned that Platinum Wen was Liu Guanfeng's dormitory mate and the only one in that dormitory, his business improved significantly. Moreover, he faced no disruptions or harassment while conducting his business.
At school, aside from Liu Guanfeng, discussions often revolved around Copper Bull and Iron Bull, particularly the fight between Copper Bull and Leihong, which was frequently mentioned by both students and teachers.
During the remaining study time, Copper Bull and Leihong became good friends. They often practiced together, and gradually Iron Bull joined their training sessions. Although Liu Guanfeng had a fondness for Leihong, he did not try to recruit him as his follower.
He understood that Leihong's father was one of the four deputy generals under Ma Weiwu, known as Thunder East, Thunder South, Thunder West, and Thunder North—four brothers. Leihong's father was Thunder North. Thus, it could be said that Leihong's Lei Family was a staunch supporter of Ma Weiwu.
Liu Guanfeng also did not want to put Leihong in a difficult position. He felt content seeing former enemies become friends. Conversely, if Liu Guanfeng were to recruit Leihong and he agreed, it might lead Liu Guanfeng to look down on him. Perhaps this is what people mean when they say that what you cannot have is the best.
Life returned to normal after the challenge; everything quickly fell back into routine. Each day consisted of monotonous school hours, after-school activities, and training. During this semester, Liu Guanfeng had already integrated all six meridians' Fighting Qi into his Dragon Pearl. The Fighting Qi within the Dragon Pearl was gradually increasing.
The Chaos Initial Skill had also reached its second layer of complete integration. At this time, Liu Guanfeng was practicing the third layer of the Mind Method: Chaotic Separation. Chaotic Separation involved separating the comprehensive attributes of Chaotic Qi within his body into five elemental Fighting Qi. This meant that balanced Chaotic Qi did not distinguish between the five elements; however, the third layer of Mind Method allowed a portion of Chaotic Qi to transform into any of the Five Element Attributes for attack.
The third layer of Mind Method consists of two stages: the first stage separates one attribute, while the second stage allows for any separation among all five attributes.
This type of training may seem simple at first glance, but in reality, it involves suppression. Each strand of Chaotic Qi represents a balance among the five elements; if one specific Fighting Qi attribute is to be manifested prominently, other attributes must be suppressed.
For example, if one wishes to separate Fighting Qi into Fire Attribute, they must suppress Water Attribute—its opposing force—using Earth Attribute to counteract Water Attribute. This would leave Fire, Wood, Metal, and a small amount of Earth Attribute remaining. Then using Fire to counter Metal would leave Wood Attribute and a small amount of Earth and Fire Attribute.
Next, by using Wood to counter Earth Attribute, a small amount of Earth would be suppressed until only a large amount of Wood Attribute and a small amount of Fire Attribute remain. Finally, utilizing the principle that Wood generates Fire would convert all Wood Attribute into Fire Attribute. This way, one strand of Chaotic Qi transforms into Fire Attribute for attacking purposes.
Upon becoming a Junior Knight, one's offensive capabilities would also improve because an Apprentice Knight's Fighting Qi resides within their meridians with limited capacity; thus it can only serve as an auxiliary role during attacks—enhancing the knight's attack strength and durability.
However, when an Apprentice Knight transitions into a Junior Knight, their original Fighting Qi within their meridians gathers at Dantian in a mist-like form increasing its internal capacity. When an Apprentice Knight attacks, the Fighting Qi from Dantian flows into their arms or legs; when striking an enemy, the attribute effects will apply to them—for instance, an attack with Fire Attribute will cause a burning sensation in the enemy.
If one reaches Intermediate Knight status, they can transmit Fighting Qi through weapons for long-range attacks with a range of about one meter. Advanced Knights can project their internal Fighting Qi about one meter using fists or feet without needing weapons; with weapons they can attack up to two meters.
As for legendary Divine Knights, their internal Fighting Qi can be forced outwards up to two meters; using weapons can extend this range to three meters. Moreover, Divine Knights can expel Fighting Qi through their fists and feet while also creating a protective shield around their bodies made from Fighting Qi. The size of this shield is also an important indicator of a Divine Knight's strength.
When Liu Guanfeng's second level of Mind Method cultivation reached a breakthrough, he began preparing to open the seventh meridian. To his surprise, the sensation he experienced while opening the seventh meridian was the same as when he opened the fourth, fifth, and sixth meridians—there were no obstacles at all.
Moreover, he spent just one night to completely open the seventh, eighth, and ninth meridians. The reason others took so long to open their meridians was that they did not have enough Fighting Qi stored in their bodies. Each time they opened a meridian, they needed to accumulate enough Fighting Qi and then expend all of it to break through.
As one progressed, the amount of Fighting Qi required increased. Sometimes, if their cultivation was insufficient and the amount of Fighting Qi did not meet the requirements, they would fail in opening a meridian and would need a long time to gather more Fighting Qi. Liu Guanfeng had never understood why it was so easy for him to open his meridians.
It wasn't until one day when the Azure Dragon Master came to check on his cultivation that he explained: "The dragon pearl I gave you was condensed from my own chaotic energy. Although there isn't a lot of chaotic energy inside, it is enough for you to reach the Advanced Knight realm."
After hearing the Azure Dragon Master's explanation, Liu Guanfeng finally understood why it was so easy for him to open his meridians. What excited him even more was that the Azure Dragon Master mentioned that the dragon pearl inside him would change along with his cultivation.
When he reached the Intermediate Knight level, the dragon pearl could automatically compress the gaseous Fighting Qi in his body into liquid form. By the time he reached the Advanced Knight stage, the dragon pearl could solidify the liquid Fighting Qi into a solid state. In other words, as Liu Guanfeng cultivated to Advanced Knight, there would be no obstacles at all, and everything would proceed very smoothly. As for reaching Divine Knight, that would depend solely on him.
However, Liu Guanfeng was already very satisfied because he had always lived by the principle that those who are content are happy.
And thus, this semester ended quietly. Although it was called half a semester, there was only a fifteen-day long break in between due to the upcoming New Year. Moreover, there were no final exams like those held now; instead, there was only one exam at the end of the entire academic year.
During this semester, Liu Guanfeng got along well with his classmates, but his best relationship was still with Platinum Wen. Liu Guanfeng had invited him to his home several times, but due to their family's high status, Platinum Wen had yet to accept. However, this did not influence their friendship.
On the day before the holiday, Platinum Wen treated Liu Guanfeng, Bao Rui, Liu Tongniu, and Liu Tieniu to a meal on the second floor of the school cafeteria. After a semester, Platinum Wen had also made a small profit. The capital that Liu Guanfeng had lent him had long been returned along with five Silver Coins as interest.
Liu Guanfeng accepted back his capital but refused to take any interest. He simply told Platinum Wen that it would be enough if he treated him to a few more meals when he had time. This meal cost Platinum Wen nearly two Silver Coins. After eating, Liu Guanfeng bid farewell to Platinum Wen and went home for the New Year with Bao Rui and the others.
