A series of Stones were thrown by Liu Guanfeng at Fire Wolf, causing a sudden shift in their offensive and defensive positions. Now it was Fire Wolf who was dodging left and right to avoid the Stones thrown by Liu Guanfeng. In that instant when he almost lost his life, Liu Guanfeng had already bid farewell to his two mothers in his mind. People say that when one is about to die, their mind flashes through the people they care about most. Liu Guanfeng thought: Since I am not dead, I will definitely repay my mother well in the future.
With this thought, Liu Guanfeng stood up and brushed off the dust from his clothes. "XP, has the Wolf King Guardian been dealt with?"
XP jumped down from Fire Wolf and slowly walked towards Liu Guanfeng. "Master, I have already taken care of the Wolf King Guardian. The other Fire Wolves saw that the Wolf King Guardian was dead and ran deep into Beast Origin Mountain Range."
"Good job, XP. You weren't hurt, were you?" Liu Guanfeng asked while patting XP's head.
"I'm fine, Master. Those Little Wolves couldn't hurt me. I should also thank you."
"Thank me? Why do you need to thank me?"
"Master, if it weren't for you suppressing my strength during the Mount Battle Competition for combat practice, I wouldn't have been able to easily repel the Wolf King Guardian today. This Wolf King Guardian is truly battle-hardened with extensive combat experience."
"Yes. Since you understand this now, remember not to underestimate any opponent in the future; even if they are weaker than you, you must give it your all—especially in life-and-death battles," Liu Guanfeng said seriously to XP.
"Master, XP remembers this and will no longer underestimate opponents weaker than me."
"Let's go check on the others." With that, he stood up and led XP towards the others.
Arriving at Big Rock, they saw three men and one woman sitting on the ground, panting heavily. Although the three men were quite capable, all at the Intermediate Knight level, being surrounded by five wolves of nearly equal strength was no easy feat. They were all gasping for breath, blood still flowing from their wounds, with each of them acquiring a few new injuries.
Liu Guanfeng approached Teacher Yuepeng and crouched down to examine her injuries. Teacher Yuepeng had a deep scratch on her left arm from a Fire Wolf that was bleeding. Liu Guanfeng took out some healing powder he had prepared himself from his pocket. He had tested his own concoction and found it somewhat effective. Liu Guanfeng sprinkled the powder on Teacher Yuepeng's arm, then tore off a strip from his undershirt to bandage her wound.
Liu Guanfeng stood up and moved in front of the woman. Besides the injury on her thigh that Liu Guanfeng had noticed earlier, she now had a new wound on her abdomen. Liu Guanfeng used his sword to cut open the fabric of her pants, revealing her reddened thigh, and sprinkled his healing powder on it before tearing off another strip of his undershirt to wrap around her leg.
However, he felt a bit awkward about treating the abdominal wound since there were still several men present. Although he was also a boy, he was just seven years old. The woman seemed to sense Liu Guanfeng's discomfort and said, "It's okay, little brother!" With that, she removed all her clothing except for her most intimate garments.
This left Liu Guanfeng in a difficult position; after all, he was technically an adult man, even if his appearance suggested otherwise. Nevertheless, he gently treated the woman's abdominal wound and applied the powder before bandaging it. Just as he finished, a piece of clothing flew over from behind him along with Teacher Yuepeng's voice saying, "Let her wear my clothes after you finish bandaging."
Liu Guanfeng glanced back; Teacher Yuepeng and the other two men were turned away from them. After dressing the woman in the clothing, Liu Guanfeng looked at the two men in front of him and provided them with simple first aid as well.
At that moment, the woman crouched beside one of the men lying on the ground. "Brother Xing, wake up! Wake up!" Liu Guanfeng approached another man lying on the ground and checked his pulse with his hand. This man showed no signs of life. He then moved to check the pulse of the man next to the woman; although weak, there was still a faint pulse indicating he was not dead.
He must be unconscious or in shock. Liu Guanfeng immediately pressed both hands firmly against the man's chest and performed several compressions with no response. He then pinched the man's philtrum but still received no reaction; only one last method remained.
Liu Guanfeng laid the man flat and unbuttoned his shirt to expose his chest. He used a torn piece of cloth to clean around the man's mouth and opened it to remove any debris inside. Then he attempted mouth-to-mouth resuscitation; although he had only heard about it and seen it done before, he had never actually performed it himself and wasn't sure if it would work.
As Liu Guanfeng gave mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to the man, everyone else stood frozen in place. "What is that little brother doing?" asked the man holding an iron rod while looking at Teacher Yuepeng.
Teacher Yuepeng shook her head as well. "I don't know either; let's just watch for now. He seems to be trying to save him."
The woman watched Liu Guanfeng intently with a flushed face. "Is this really a method of saving someone? Did you learn this at your academy?" She turned to look at Yuepeng.
Teacher Yuepeng shook her head again. "Our academy does not teach such methods of rescue. I truly have no idea where this child learned it."
Liu Guanfeng continued for about ten more times, and the man beneath him began to cough violently. During his coughing, he spat out a mouthful of blood, which landed right on Liu Guanfeng's face.
Liu Guanfeng wiped the blood off his face with his hand and then clapped his hands, smiling as he said, "It's done. He should be able to survive now."
The woman joyfully rushed over and kissed Liu Guanfeng on the cheek, saying, "Thank you, Younger Brother."
Liu Guanfeng felt a bit awkward; it was fine to say thank you, but why call him Younger Brother? However, he decided not to hold it against her since she was beautiful. At that moment, the man with the axe and the man with the iron rod excitedly rushed over, grabbing Liu Guanfeng's hand and saying, "Little Brother. Thank you so much. You are our savior from the Red Star Mercenary Group."
Red Star? That name sounded familiar. "Little Brother, the person you just revived is our Red Star Mercenary Group's leader. His name is Eastern Star, and that woman is his wife and our vice leader named Liu Hong."
The name of our mercenary group comes from combining one character from each of their names. My name is Song Qun, and this man here is also from our mercenary group; his name is Xie Zhuang," Song Qun said while pointing at the man holding the iron rod.
The man had been watching Liu Guanfeng closely. When Liu Guanfeng looked at him, he bowed deeply while holding the rod. Liu Guanfeng quickly returned the gesture.
At that moment, a commotion could be heard coming from down the mountain. The first to arrive was Dean Su, followed by seven or eight male teachers. Behind those male teachers and Mount were Bao Rui, Copper Bull, Iron Bull, Leihong, and Du Zhenyang.
When Liu Guanfeng saw Du Zhenyang, he was taken aback because he had expected Bao Rui and his two brothers to come up, and even Leihong’s arrival wouldn’t surprise him due to his personality and his relationship with Copper Bull and Iron Bull. However, he rarely interacted with Du Zhenyang; they were merely acquaintances, so he didn't expect him to come up.
When Dean Su reached Liu Guanfeng and let out a sigh of relief, he noticeably slowed down because he only saw a few living people while none of the Fire Wolves were alive. The teachers and students who followed saw that there were no Fire Wolves left and immediately put away their weapons.
Bao Rui and his two brothers rushed directly toward Liu Guanfeng, surrounding him and continuously asking if he was okay. Liu Guanfeng showed them the claw marks on his chest and back before they finally relaxed completely. Then everyone worked together to gather the bodies of the Fire Wolves; only the Wolf King Guardian remained untouched as everyone gathered around to look.
This wolf was significantly larger than the other Fire Wolves and was entirely red in color, while the other Fire Wolves resembled normal wolves with grayish-brown fur. Dean Su immediately recognized the identity of the Wolf King Guardian:
"This is a Wolf King Guardian! Logically speaking, such a high-level magical beast shouldn't appear here."
Liu Guanfeng walked over to Dean Su's side. "Dean, this question can only be answered by those Mercenaries. However, it seems this isn't the right place for a discussion. Let's first get them down the mountain."
Dean Su nodded. "Alright, everyone gather the prey and use your respective Mounts to carry it down."
"Brother Xing, don't move yet; you can't get up right now," said a woman named Liu Hong. Liu Guanfeng turned to see Eastern Star trying to rise and quickly walked over to him. Seeing the stubborn man attempting to stand, Eastern Star almost knelt down before Liu Guanfeng reached out to support him. He then helped him back down to sit slowly on the ground.
"Sit for a moment; from what I saw earlier, is your left leg injured?"
Eastern Star nodded. "Yes, I was hit by the Wolf King Guardian and crashed into a Stone. Then I hurried to escape, and now my leg is probably useless." Hearing Eastern Star say his leg might be useless made Liu Hong, who was squatting nearby, cry even harder.
Liu Guanfeng shook his head; this was what they called concern leading to chaos. He instructed Eastern Star to stay put and called over Bao Rui, Copper Bull, and Iron Bull, leading them into the nearby forest. At that moment, Song Qun, who was holding dual axes, approached. "Little brother, is there anything I can help you with?"
Liu Guanfeng shook his head. "Uncle Song Qun, even if I tell you, you wouldn't know what to do. It's fine; I'll take my three companions with me. Can I borrow something from you?"
"Borrow something? What do I have on me? As long as you can name it, it's not just borrowing; I'll give it to you without any problem," Song Qun assured while patting his chest.
Liu Guanfeng chuckled at him. "I'm just borrowing it; it won't be of any use to me anyway. I just want to borrow your two axes."
"Those two axes? Just take them," Song Qun said as he handed over the two axes. Copper Bull and Iron Bull each took one.
"Go back and keep an eye on your team leader; make sure he doesn't move and just sits there waiting for my return." After giving his instructions, Liu Guanfeng led Bao Rui and the others into the forest.
