A path opened up from the crowd of onlookers as two rows of soldiers entered. Liu Guanfeng, Bao Rui, Copper Bull, Iron Bull, and Scarred Boy were all surrounded.
One soldier, with a grim expression, asked, "Who can tell me what exactly happened?"
At that moment, a voice came from behind the group of soldiers: "Third Son, is that you?"
Upon hearing this voice, Liu Guanfeng was taken aback; he recognized it very well. It was the voice of his older brother, Liu Guanlei.
"Brother, is that you?" Liu Guanfeng looked in the direction of the voice.
A young man in his twenties pushed through the soldiers blocking his way and stepped forward. Liu Guanfeng saw that it was indeed his older brother.
Liu Guanfeng took a step closer to his brother. Liu Guanlei grabbed Liu Guanfeng and looked him over: "What on earth happened? Why are you here fighting with them?"
Liu Guanfeng calmly replied, "Brother, I came to Starfall City to participate in the Academy Competition. We just arrived at the academy today and were given half a day off. Then I went to eat with Bao Rui, Copper Bull, and Iron Bull..." Liu Guanfeng recounted everything that had happened to his brother.
At this time, several people lying on the ground were slowly waking up. When Scarred Boy saw the group of soldiers, he was startled. Hearing Liu Guanfeng refer to the soldier-like young man as his brother made Scarred Boy's heart sink.
When Liu Guanlei saw Scarred Boy still sitting on the ground, he remarked, "I wondered who it was; turns out it's Scarred Boy. How come you're bullying my little brother again today?"
The boy called Scarred Boy looked apologetic: "I didn't know he was your brother! If I had known he was your brother, I wouldn't have dared to touch him."
Liu Guanlei looked at Scarred Boy: "Kid, this is your first and last warning. If I catch you bothering my brother again, just wait and see what I'll do to you." After saying this, he led Liu Guanfeng and the others out of the soldiers' encirclement and turned to the soldier who had spoken earlier: "Wang Qiang, you handle this matter."
"Understood, Deputy Commander," the soldier replied.
Liu Guanlei took Liu Guanfeng and the others aside to chat about family matters. The soldier named Wang Qiang turned back to look at Scarred Boy sitting on the ground: "Kid, what do you think we should do about today's incident?"
Scarface smiled bitterly and said, "Boss Wang, I really didn't know that was Liu the Captain's brother. It was all a misunderstanding today; please let me go."
Wang Qiang chuckled, "I can let you go, but you still need to pay some medical expenses for Liu the Captain's brother."
Scarface quickly searched his pockets and pulled out two gold coins and three silver coins, which he handed to Wang Qiang. "Boss Wang, this is all the money I have on me. Please let me go."
Wang Qiang weighed the coins in his hand. "Scarface, you better keep your eyes open next time. Take your men and get lost."
"Thank you, Boss Wang." With that, Scarface hurriedly squeezed through the crowd with his subordinates.
Wang Qiang approached Liu Guanlei. "Deputy Commander, this money is for the medical expenses of Liu the Third Young Master from Scarface."
Liu Guanlei glanced at Wang Qiang and smiled. "Well done."
Liu Guanfeng looked at his older brother. "Brother, are we just letting them go like this?"
Liu Guanlei turned to his younger brother. "Third Son, Scarface is a well-known thug in Starfall City. Even if we arrest them, they would be out in two days since they are all under the Chen Family. Instead of letting them stay inside for a few days, it's better to teach them a lesson."
"If we really provoke those Little Guys, they could do anything, and it wouldn't benefit anyone. But if we handle it this way, they'll be much more polite when they see you next time. These people are soft rather than hard. Third Son, this is the money they owe you; just take it." Liu Guanlei nodded toward the coins in Wang Qiang's hand.
Liu Guanfeng wasn't naive; he nodded and accepted it. He took three silver coins from Wang Qiang and said, "Wang Da, thank you again. You can use that money to buy drinks for the brothers."
Wang Qiang felt delighted but replied, "That won't do; Liu the Third Young Master was hurt and needs money for a doctor."
Liu Guanfeng laughed heartily. "Wang Da, you underestimate me! Do I look like someone who got beaten? I was the one doing the beating earlier. If you think highly of your Younger Brother, take the money; it's not easy for you brothers to patrol every day."
At that moment, Liu Guanlei added, "Wang Qiang, my Third Son said to take it." Liu Guanlei was usually very generous with his soldiers and warm-hearted. When he heard Liu Guanlei tell him to accept the money, Wang Qiang happily put it away in his pocket and turned to his fellow soldiers. "Brothers, after we finish patrolling, let's go eat together; Liu the Captain's brother is treating us!"
The other soldiers immediately responded with enthusiasm: "Thank you, Third Young Master! Thank you, Third Young Master!"
Liu Guanfeng looked at his older brother and asked, "Brother, how long will you be patrolling?"
"My patrol time is up. I was just passing by here on my way to hand over my shift. Since I saw you, let's go; I'll treat you to a meal. Wang Qiang, send a brother to inform Dai Yi that I'm taking my brother out for dinner," Liu Guanlei instructed as he turned around.
"Alright." After saying that, Wang Qiang ordered a soldier to take over the shift while the remaining soldiers stayed put, knowing there would be a dinner gathering tonight.
"Wait a moment, big brother." Liu Guanfeng suddenly remembered something.
"Is there anything else, Third Son?"
Liu Guanfeng ran back to the food stall where they had just eaten. The stall was now in disarray with debris scattered everywhere. He approached the stall owner and handed him three Silver Coins. "Boss, this is compensation for your losses. Is this enough?"
Seeing Liu Guanfeng give him three Silver Coins, the Boss quickly waved his hands. "No, no, I can't accept your money. Besides, these things aren't worth much; I can clean up and still use them."
Liu Guanfeng insisted on placing the Silver Coins in front of the Boss. "It's fine, Boss. This money belongs to that group of ruffians from earlier. Please keep it; I'm sorry for delaying your business." With that, Liu Guanfeng turned and ran back.
Liu Guanlei nodded approvingly at his brother's actions, while Wang Qiang praised him from the side. Under Liu Guanlei's lead, they quickly arrived at a small tavern. As soon as Liu Guanfeng entered, he realized his brother often brought his men here; everyone was very familiar with the Boss and the bartender.
Liu Guanfeng asked his brother, "Aren't you supposed to be outside the city on guard duty? Why are you here in the city now?"
"It's because of you guys. The Academy Competition is about to take place, and Starfall City has many more people than before. Plus, with the Knight's Initial Assessment going on, the City Defense Army is short-staffed and had to pull people from outside the city. So here I am."
Before long, all the food and drinks were served. The group chatted and drank together. This was Liu Guanfeng's first time drinking alcohol; however, once it entered his system, his Fighting Qi expelled the alcohol as sweat.
So even though Liu Guanfeng drank quite a bit, he remained sober while Bao Rui, Copper Bull, and Iron Bull were tasked with protecting him and did not drink since they were still kids. The soldiers also refrained from forcing them to drink.
After some time of drinking, Liu Guanfeng noticed it was already dark outside and bid farewell to his brother since he needed to return to the hotel; otherwise, the school teachers would worry. Liu Guanlei did not stop him and allowed the four of them to leave.
Liu Guanfeng and Bao Rui walked carefully towards Jiqing Hotel. The events from earlier made Liu Guanfeng cautious since this was not Rain City after all. When they were close to the hotel, they found four or five attendants blocking their path. Liu Guanfeng approached them:
"Excuse me, we need to get through here to return to the hotel."
One of the house servants glanced at Liu Guanfeng and the others, "What are you kids doing here? Our young master is inside on business. If you don't move along, we'll throw you out. Get lost!" Since the four had just finished a fight and their clothes were dirty, they hadn't had time to change before going to eat with their older brother Liu Guanlei, so the servants mistook them for ordinary children from a common family.
Liu Guanfeng frowned upon hearing this, but realizing they were not in Rain City, he decided it was better to avoid trouble and turned to go through another street. However, after taking just two steps, he heard a girl's voice from inside shouting, "Help! What are you doing? Let go of me!"
Liu Guanfeng recognized that voice immediately and stopped in his tracks, trying to recall whose voice it was. Before he could think it through, another girl's voice shouted from inside, "Help! You bunch of thugs!"
Upon hearing this, Bao Rui's expression changed instantly. He turned to Liu Guanfeng and said, "Third Brother, that's Wang Jiao's voice." Hearing this made Liu Guanfeng suddenly remember that the earlier shout was from Li Xiaohan. After hearing Bao Rui's urgent tone, he sensed there was something going on between Bao Rui and Wang Jiao.
Without saying a word, Liu Guanfeng rushed over and threw a punch at the servant who had spoken earlier. The servant hadn't reacted before he was already on the ground, blood streaming from his nose. After knocking down that servant, Liu Guanfeng aimed a kick at another nearby servant's groin. Being still a child and with the other servant being taller, Liu Guanfeng's kick caused him to crouch down in pain.
At this moment, Bao Rui, Copper Bull, and Iron Bull also sprang into action, each targeting a different servant. The other servants hadn’t reacted yet when Bao Rui and his friends closed in.
"Hey! Hey! You guys..." one servant pointed at Copper Bull as he charged forward.
"What about us?" Copper Bull replied as he punched the servant in the abdomen. The servant doubled over in pain while clutching his stomach. Copper Bull then kicked him in the head, knocking him flat on the ground.
By this time, Bao Rui and Iron Bull had also taken down their respective servants.
Seeing that all the servants had been dealt with, Liu Guanfeng led his companions into the building.
