Liu Guanfeng saw XP catch a turkey and said to XP, "Let's go." After speaking, he continued walking up the mountain.
Behind Liu Guanfeng, Ma Sanbao sneered as he watched Liu Guanfeng's back: "Liu Guanfeng, today I will show you how powerful I am. You think you can achieve good results in the hunt? Dream on! With me around, you will be at the bottom this time."
Ma Sanbao quickly packed up the turkey and then chased after Liu Guanfeng. Soon, he passed Liu Guanfeng and circled around to the front. This time, Ma Sanbao did not create chaos like before; he was afraid that Liu Guanfeng would realize his intentions if he acted up again.
So this time, Ma Sanbao directly ran to the front of Liu Guanfeng to cause trouble. Whenever he saw a group of magical beasts ahead, Ma Sanbao would run over to disrupt them, driving all the magical beasts away. By the time Liu Guanfeng arrived, there was only a mess left. During this time, Ma Sanbao also caught a few prey with his Leopard.
Since there was no place to store them, Ma Sanbao returned to the base to register. When Ma Sanbao returned to the base, Liu Guanfeng also discovered several gathering spots of magical beasts and caught a turkey and a Cloud Rabbit. However, both were dead. Just as Liu Guanfeng was about to continue hunting, Ma Sanbao returned again to create more chaos in front of him.
By noon, Liu Guanfeng had only managed to catch two turkeys and one Cloud Rabbit. At noon, Liu Guanfeng found a flat area, cleared away any flammable materials around him, and built a campfire. He cleaned one of the turkeys he had caught and placed it on a rack.
While roasting the turkey and reflecting on the morning's events, Liu Guanfeng wondered why hunting had been so unproductive today. Even finding magical beasts had been difficult, and he noticed many places were left in disarray as if a fierce battle had just taken place.
Liu Guanfeng called XP over: "XP, is there anyone around us now?"
XP sniffed carefully and replied to Liu Guanfeng, "It seems there are people about ten meters in front of us to the right."
Liu Guanfeng nodded: "XP, go see who it is."
XP slowly walked towards the upper right. After a few minutes, XP returned to Liu Guanfeng's side: "Master, I saw clearly that it's Ma Sanbao and his Leopard about ten meters in front of us."
Liu Guanfeng slowly sorted through his thoughts and realized that since meeting Ma Sanbao, he had rarely seen groups of magical beasts. Could it be that he was up to something? He would find out soon enough by testing it out. With this in mind, Liu Guanfeng began roasting his turkey slowly; in no time at all, a golden-brown turkey was ready. Liu Guanfeng ate two legs and wings himself and gave the rest to XP.
After eating his fill, Liu Guanfeng found a clean spot to lie down and rest while asking XP to keep an eye on the surroundings and watch for any movements from Ma Sanbao.
About half an hour later, XP returned to Liu Guanfeng's side: "Master, during this time Ma Sanbao hasn't made any moves towards hunting; it seems like he's waiting for something. Also, I noticed his Leopard nearby; it seems to be watching your actions."
Liu Guanfeng nodded: "Just as I expected. Ma Sanbao is waiting for me to go hunting so he can cause trouble ahead. No wonder I've been having such difficulty finding magical beasts today. XP, this afternoon I will rest here while you go out hunting; catch whatever you can. Then gather the prey together so we can register it tonight."
"Alright, Master, I will go hunt now. But what about your safety?"
"You don't need to worry about my safety; no one in the forest can harm my name. As for Ma Sanbao, he doesn't have the guts for that. Just go ahead and don't worry."
"Then please be careful, Master. I'll head out now." As XP left, he glanced at Liu Guanfeng before quickly disappearing into the dense forest.
Liu Guanfeng continued to rest as if nothing had happened, thinking: "Ma Sanbao, you want to cause me trouble? No problem, let's see who can outlast whom." With that thought, Liu Guanfeng closed his eyes and began his afternoon nap.
About ten meters away from Liu Guanfeng, Leopard returned to Ma Sanbao's side. Ma Sanbao asked, "Is Liu Guanfeng still in place?" Leopard nodded.
Ma Sanbao paced back and forth, pondering: "What does Liu Guanfeng want? Does he suspect I'm following him? That shouldn't be; I've kept a distance of over ten meters. Since he's not moving, I'll just wait him out and see what he plans to do."
With that thought, Ma Sanbao instructed his Leopard, "You continue to keep an eye on Liu Guanfeng. If he makes any moves, come back and inform me immediately."
Leopard nodded and swiftly darted into the woods. Ma Sanbao also found a clean spot to practice.
Liu Guanfeng slept until around four in the afternoon before waking up. After waking, Liu Guanfeng began to contact XP: "XP, where are you?"
"Master, I'm about two hundred meters away from you." XP's voice came through in Liu Guanfeng's mind.
"Come over and guide me."
"Okay, Master. Wait a moment; I'll be there soon."
After waiting for about a minute, a White Shadow appeared beside Liu Guanfeng. Liu Guanfeng mounted XP, who carried him to the place where the prey was hidden. Throughout the afternoon, XP managed to catch two turkeys, one Cloud Rabbit, and one Golden Rooster. Seeing XP's achievements for the afternoon, Liu Guanfeng nodded and said, "XP, you did well. I will reward you with a turkey later."
After saying this, Liu Guanfeng placed all the prey on XP's back and led him down the mountain.
As XP carried Liu Guanfeng to find their prey, a golden figure slowly retreated. Leopard quickly ran to Ma Sanbao's side and tapped him with his paw. Ma Sanbao snapped out of his training state and looked at Leopard in front of him:
“Is there any news about Liu Guanfeng?” Leopard nodded. “Take me to him right away.” After saying this, Ma Sanbao mounted Leopard, and they rushed towards the direction where Liu Guanfeng had gone.
Following the scent left by Liu Guanfeng, they slowly tracked down the place where he was hiding his prey. When Ma Sanbao saw the prey in front of Liu Guanfeng, his nose almost crinkled in disbelief: “So you’re playing this kind of trick on me, Liu Guanfeng? You’re impressive today, but just wait until tomorrow; I’ll be back for more.”
After saying this, Ma Sanbao watched as Liu Guanfeng took his prey and left. Ma Sanbao hung back at a distance.
When Liu Guanfeng arrived at the registration area with his prey, Bao Rui was already waiting for him. Bao Rui had a very good day today, having caught ten turkeys and two Golden Roosters, all alive. His score for the day had already reached twenty-six points.
Liu Guanfeng brought his prey to the registration area but did not deliver it there. Instead, he set up several bonfires in the square and placed two turkeys and a Cloud Rabbit on the grill. He prepared one Golden Rooster to be saved for tomorrow's meal.
Liu Guanfeng slowly turned the turkeys and Cloud Rabbit on the grill, sprinkling salt, chili, and other seasonings evenly over them. Soon, sizzling sounds emerged from the meat, filling the air with a delicious aroma.
Seeing that the meat was ready, Liu Guanfeng took half of the Cloud Rabbit and presented it to the supervising examiner: “Teacher, you’ve been busy with us all day; you must be hungry. Please try this half of the rabbit. My cooking skills are limited; I hope you won’t mind.”
The examiner was a man in his thirties. Upon seeing the Cloud Rabbit in Liu Guanfeng’s hands, he nodded: “You’re very thoughtful, student.” To be honest, this teacher had started salivating when he saw Liu Guanfeng roasting the rabbit and turkeys; he hadn’t had a proper meal all day.
As the teacher accepted the roasted rabbit, Liu Guanfeng clasped his hands together: “Enjoy your meal, teacher.” He then returned to the grill and tore off the wings and thighs of both turkeys before tossing them in front of XP and Fire, who immediately began to eat without lifting their heads.
Bao Rui also took the wings and legs that Liu Guanfeng offered him. In no time at all, they finished off half of the Cloud Rabbit along with both turkeys' wings and legs. After dinner, Liu Guanfeng collected the remaining bones.
The supervising teacher nodded repeatedly from the side; this student was really impressive—not only could he cook food but he also cleaned up after eating. He held Liu Guanfeng in high regard.
Once Liu Guanfeng and Bao Rui had tidied everything up, Bao Rui approached Liu Guanfeng: “Third Brother, how many pieces of prey did you catch today?”
Liu Guanfeng smiled: “Didn’t you see? We ate them all.”
Bao Rui was shocked: “Third Brother, is that all you caught? And you ate them? Doesn’t that mean your score for today is zero?”
Liu Guanfeng nodded with a smile: “I got outsmarted today.”
Bao Rui thought for a moment, "Third Brother, are you talking about Ma Sanbao?"
"Yes, he has been causing trouble in front of me all day. I didn't go hunting this afternoon at all. Instead, I just lay down to rest. All these prey were caught by XP. Otherwise, we wouldn't have anything to eat tonight."
"Third Brother, how about I go teach that Ma Sanbao a lesson later?"
Liu Guanfeng smiled and shook his head, "I can handle it myself; you don't need to worry about my matters. Just remember to earn more points and strive to get into the top three. I'll find a chance to properly educate Ma Sanbao."
While they were talking, Ma Sanbao returned to the registration area with three Cloud Rabbits and two Golden Roosters. The teacher at the registration desk recorded Ma Sanbao's prey, totaling ten points plus the morning's points, so Ma Sanbao earned fifteen points for the day. Seeing that the teacher had finished registering, Ma Sanbao pretended nothing was wrong and walked up to Liu Guanfeng.
"Liu Guanfeng, today's harvest is not bad, right? How many points did you get?"
Liu Guanfeng also pretended to be nonchalant, "Today's harvest isn't good; the prey I caught isn't even enough for a meal. So I'm still at zero points right now. How about you, Young Master Ma?"
Ma Sanbao feigned comforting Liu Guanfeng, "Liu Guanfeng, don't lose heart; just work harder tomorrow. My harvest was average too; I only got fifteen points in a whole day. I'm off to eat now."
Liu Guanfeng nodded, "Take your time eating, Young Master Ma."
Once Ma Sanbao turned around, a smile appeared on his face: Liu Guanfeng, you have your day today; I'll show you my prowess. Today you're at zero points, and in two days you'll still be at zero.
Then Ma Sanbao returned to his dormitory and took out all the food prepared for him at home, lying on his bed as he slowly ate, drank, and laughed.
