Soon, the two men and four beasts arrived at the foot of the mountain. By this time, it had been about an hour since Iron Bull's Golden Hammer Squad entered. Just as Liu Guanfeng and Dai were preparing to go in, they noticed that some soldiers were already coming out.
Liu Guanfeng smiled slightly at the soldiers who emerged. "You two, stop."
The dejected soldiers looked up when they heard someone call out. Upon seeing Liu Guanfeng, they immediately ran over to him. "Reporting to the General."
Liu Guanfeng nodded and gestured for them to continue. "How did you get out?"
One of the soldiers replied, "Reporting to the General, we are a reconnaissance squad. However, we had only just left the main force for about thirty meters when two members of Special Forces appeared behind us. They covered our mouths and held a wooden knife to our throats, then we ended up with this little flag on our heads."
"Alright, you two can go back," Liu Guanfeng said after listening.
"Yes, General." The two soldiers saluted and turned to leave.
"Your soldiers are quite efficient; it's only been an hour since they went in and already someone is coming out," Liu Guanfeng said with a light laugh as he looked at Dai.
Dai smiled slightly in response. "Third Brother, the best part is yet to come. Nighttime is when they will leave in large numbers."
"Let's go in and take a look." Liu Guanfeng led the way into the mountain.
After walking about fifty meters, Liu Guanfeng's spiritual sense detected a hidden soldier. If it weren't for Liu Guanfeng's exceptionally precise perception, even experts like Divine Knights might easily overlook this person. The soldier's concealment skills were remarkable; Liu Guanfeng had to search three times before finding this spot. Even upon noticing Liu Guanfeng and Dai approaching, the target did not react significantly, which made Liu Guanfeng even more eager to see how the Special Forces would perform since their initial display had already impressed him.
Liu Guanfeng smiled and nodded at Dai. Dai had detected this soldier earlier than Liu Guanfeng because he had personally trained these soldiers. Seeing Liu Guanfeng's satisfied expression made Dai very happy; he straightened his back and nodded toward the place where the team member was hiding before continuing forward with Liu Guanfeng.
As Liu Guanfeng and Dai Yi walked along, they discovered many well-hidden members of Special Forces. They all shared a common trait: none of them showed significant emotional fluctuations upon noticing Liu Guanfeng and Dai's presence. This was a psychological quality that a killer should possess, which was also what Liu Guanfeng appreciated most about them.
Liu Guanfeng occasionally saw a few soldiers from the Golden Hammer Squad emerging from the forest, each with a small red flag stuck on their heads. Their expressions were filled with indescribable frustration, as many of them did not even know when they had been ambushed and killed by the enemy.
Originally, Liu Guanfeng intended for the Ghost Leopard Special Forces to practice assassination during this competition, while the other teams were tasked with surviving in the mountains for seven days. However, since the Ghost Leopard Special Forces only had about forty members, the Camp Commander of the Golden Hammer Squad felt that it would be embarrassing to focus solely on survival. Thus, he ordered his team to begin hunting down these forty or so individuals, which provided an excellent training opportunity for the Ghost Leopard Special Forces.
The scouts sent by the Camp Commander were systematically dealt with by the Ghost Leopard Special Forces. After waiting for a while and noticing that fewer soldiers were coming out, Liu Guanfeng realized that the Camp Commander must have changed his strategy. He no longer sent soldiers out individually for reconnaissance.
Looking at the sky, Liu Guanfeng estimated that it was almost dinner time. Neither he nor Dai Yi showed any intention of returning, so Dai took the initiative to go hunting. After a while, he returned with a large haul of game. Meanwhile, Liu Guanfeng had already set up a grill. As he turned the grill and applied seasonings, the aroma of meat gradually wafted through the air.
The two men and four beasts savored their food in the forest while waiting for nightfall. During their meal, Liu Guanfeng noticed that two more people had quietly appeared around him without revealing themselves; he knew they were soldiers from his Special Forces. A glance at Dai Yi confirmed that these were arranged by him for protection. Although nothing significant was likely to happen on Diaoyu Island, it was still commendable that Dai had this level of concern.
As they continued eating, several soldiers from the Golden Hammer Squad came over to take a look. However, upon seeing Liu Guanfeng and Dai Yi, they saluted and did not disturb them further.
After finishing dinner, Liu Guanfeng and Dai Yi each resumed their training while waiting for deep night to arrive. As night fell quietly over the forest, Liu Guanfeng awoke from his meditation first. Sensing Liu Guanfeng's awakening, Dai Yi also opened his eyes.
"Hey, isn't it about time?"
Dai nodded: "Yes, it should be about time."
"Shall we go see what's happening?"
Dai Yi smiled: "Let's go check on how the kids are doing."
Liu Guanfeng and Dai Yi quietly led their four magical beasts to the Golden Hammer Squad's camp. Upon seeing the camp, Liu Guanfeng felt quite pleased because they had managed to set up a relatively decent camp in such a short time and had also dug numerous traps within it. Four guards were stationed at the entrance, diligently keeping watch over the camp, while patrol soldiers passed by occasionally.
Liu Guanfeng and Dai found a tall tree to perch in quietly. They waited until around two o'clock when Little Black reminded Liu Guanfeng and the others: "Xiaofeng, your Special Forces have arrived."
Liu Guanfeng had great confidence in Little Black. Liu Guanfeng's spiritual awareness could only extend to about twenty meters, but Little Black had already reached a terrifying distance of several kilometers.
Liu Guanfeng smiled and said, "The show is about to begin."
Dai also smiled back, though he felt incredibly nervous inside, as he could not guarantee what results the assassination would yield that night. After all, they only had a little over forty people, and Liu Guanfeng had ordered them to strictly use fire attacks, even if it was just for intimidation. This rule also indirectly limited the actions of the Special Forces.
At this moment, the four soldiers guarding the gate clearly felt that there would be no surprise attack that night, so they gradually relaxed their vigilance. This action caused Liu Guanfeng to furrow his brow; he knew that from a physiological perspective, this was the time when people felt the most drowsy during the day, and it was also a common time for sneak attacks. Therefore, he decided to remind Bao Rui and others again after the Campus Competition ended. However, the main focus now was to watch the show and see just how strong his Special Forces were.
Slowly, Liu Guanfeng saw four shadows quietly approaching the guards at the door. Just as the four were distracted, those shadows launched their attack. The four shadows simultaneously moved towards their targets, swiftly knocking out the four soldiers with clean and efficient techniques.
They quickly changed into the military uniforms of the four soldiers and stood at the entrance with their weapons in hand. At this point, it seemed as if nothing had happened at the gate. Once everything was prepared, a Patrol Team approached from a distance, and it could be said that these four individuals had timed everything perfectly.
The Patrol Team passed by the entrance without noticing anything wrong and continued their patrol elsewhere. As soon as the Patrol Team left, around thirty soldiers rushed in from both sides of the gate. They headed straight for the barracks nearby.
After a while, they quietly exited from the Barracks. Liu Guanfeng knew that all the soldiers inside had been declared dead.
Finally, these thirty or so Special Forces quietly approached the Camp Commander's Main Tent. Liu Guanfeng was sweating for this tent; voices could still be heard from inside, indicating that the Camp Commander had not yet fallen asleep. He was discussing strategies for tomorrow with several Company Commanders and Squad Leaders present in his tent.
What they did not know was that apart from them, there were no other living souls left in the entire military camp; the only ones still alive were a team of Patrol Soldiers on arduous duty.
At this moment, Liu Guanfeng saw several Special Forces discussing something together before quickly dispersing. A few individuals quietly left while around twenty remained near the tent. These twenty individuals concealed themselves well while several other Special Forces made their way to the camp entrance.
After exchanging a few words with some soldiers at the entrance, six people hid at the gate while four stood across from them. At this time, one soldier who had initially taken control of the entrance shouted, "Who goes there?"
His voice echoed loudly in the silent camp, startling the Patrol Soldiers. The Patrol Soldiers quickly ran to the entrance and spotted four Special Forces members; however, before this team of ten soldiers could comprehend what was happening, they were subdued by the six Special Forces hiding at the gate along with four disguised sentries.
Due to a shout at the entrance, the Camp Commander, who was discussing matters inside the Barracks, also heard the commotion. When he and his Company Commander and Squad Leader came out, they were ambushed by the hidden Special Forces. Before the Camp Commander could grasp the situation, his Squad Leader had already been declared dead, leaving him with only four Company Commanders. At that moment, they were surrounded by thirty Special Forces.
Moreover, Liu Guanfeng knew that there were still a dozen Special Forces outside the Barracks whose mission was to prevent any soldiers from escaping in case of a failed ambush.
Seeing this situation, the Camp Commander could only shake his head helplessly. He had brought nearly four hundred soldiers into the mountains, but in less than a day, only five remained after being killed by these forty or so men. The Camp Commander smiled bitterly and said, "You win. I will take my soldiers and leave."
One of the Special Forces members said, "Camp Commander, why don't you stay here and rest tonight? It's already midnight, and the generals won't arrive at the training ground until tomorrow morning. How about I keep you company for a few drinks tonight?"
Liu Guanfeng recognized the speaker as Gao Yu, the young man who had promised to protect him back then. He never expected Gao Yu to have grown to such an extent now.
Liu Guanfeng gave a thumbs-up to Dai Yi beside him, who responded with a smile. Dai Yi was very satisfied with his team's performance in today's Campus Competition. In this era of cold weapons, achieving such a feat without losing a single soldier while directly killing nearly four hundred opponents seemed like a dream to anyone who heard it. Yet today, they finally accomplished it.
"Alright, we should head back now. Seeing this team's performance gives me confidence. I believe you can wipe out three teams."
"Then what about your reward, Third Brother?" Dai Yi asked with a mischievous smile.
Liu Guanfeng laughed and scolded him playfully, "You little protector of your own kind! When has what your Third Brother promised ever not counted? As long as you can do it, I have no problem. Let's go back and get some sleep; we'll discuss everything in the morning."
Dai Yi then said to Liu Guanfeng, "Third Brother, you go back first. I want to say a few words to the Brothers. I think they would be very interested in your reward from the general."
Liu Guanfeng nodded with a smile: "Go ahead. I'm actually looking forward to seeing how your Special Forces compare with my Reinforced Battalion."
