The "Devour" Mind Method consists of three layers. The first layer involves inhaling through the mouth and nose, then converting it into one's own "oxygen bottle." The second layer utilizes the Dantian for inhalation; since each spherical Fighting Qi is very close to the Dantian, this method of inhalation is also one of the fastest ways to store energy. The final layer involves inhaling through the skin, meaning that as long as Liu Guanfeng has mastered the "Devour" Mind Method, he can remain underwater as long as any part of his skin is exposed.
Upon seeing this Mind Method, Liu Guanfeng was very pleased because he had been struggling with the sixth layer of his "Chaos Initial Skill"—Chaos Devouring—without any leads. Now, the final layer taught by Xuanwu in "Devour" was quite similar to Chaos Devouring, both relying on the skin for absorption; however, one absorbs air while the other absorbs elemental energy.
After explaining everything to Liu Guanfeng, Xuanwu spent the remaining time observing the others while Liu Guanfeng retreated to practice the Mind Method on his own.
It took three days for a second person to learn how to create a Fighting Qi oxygen bottle. Surprisingly, it was not Bao Rui, known for his intelligence, nor Li Xiaohan, renowned for her meticulousness, but rather Iron Bull, who was usually simple-minded and straightforward.
This might be Iron Bull's proudest achievement. Everyone practiced for a month before successfully completing the first step. Each person managed to form a small oxygen ball within their bodies that could last for a week. Unless they could connect their abdominal fighting core with this oxygen ball and continuously supply stable Fighting Qi to ensure its normal operation.
Since each person's usage of Fighting Qi varied, many oxygen balls formed within their bodies. Li Xiaohan had the most, able to create five oxygen balls. Iron Bull, Bao Rui, and another individual could control four each; Copper Bull had three; while Du Zhenyang, Song Haitao, and eight personal guards could only form two due to their insufficient strength.
Seeing that everyone had learned how to create oxygen balls, Xuanwu then taught them the "Devour" Mind Method. At this point, Liu Guanfeng had already mastered the first layer of the Mind Method and had tested it underwater once. After learning the first layer, he immediately used his technique to inhale air into his body and filtered the oxygen using the Fighting Qi oxygen bottle. This ensured that the oxygen concentration inside the "oxygen bottle" was greater than that of the outside air.
After inhaling a large amount of oxygen, Liu Guanfeng began to dive. He spent an entire afternoon underwater, enjoying himself while catching several sea fish and some scallops. The other youths watched enviously, each hoping to dive soon.
Two months later, Liu Guanfeng had practiced the "Devour" Mind Method up to the third layer—how to breathe through his skin. Xuanwu instructed Liu Guanfeng to immerse himself in the sea and place one hand on the water's surface while noting that the oxygen in his internal oxygen bottle would only last him two hours.
Liu Guanfeng floated in the water with his right hand resting on the surface. They carefully observed how it felt over time as it passed slowly. Liu Guanfeng sensed that he was running low on stored oxygen when some grain-sized Fighting Qi separated from his abdominal dragon pearl and gradually concentrated in his right hand. These originally tiny grains of Fighting Qi grew larger until they reached rice grain size. Then these small Fighting Qi began returning directly into Liu Guanfeng's internal oxygen bottle. He could clearly feel that the oxygen in his Fighting Qi oxygen bottle was gradually increasing, and he did not want to disrupt this delicate cycle.
Slowly, Liu Guanfeng extended his left hand above the water's surface while those Fighting Qi continued circulating in his right hand. More Fighting Qi separated from his dragon pearl and surged toward his left hand. This created a dual circulation within Liu Guanfeng's body; his internal oxygen bottle was slowly increasing as well. This not only satisfied his breathing needs but also allowed him to store excess oxygen in the bottle.
When Liu Guanfeng felt that the small oxygen tank inside him was fully charged, he resurfaced from the sea. It was already the afternoon of the second day, which meant that Liu Guanfeng had spent more than a day underwater while practicing the Three Layers Mind Method.
Seeing Liu Guanfeng come ashore, Xuanwu was very pleased. Approaching Liu Guanfeng, Xuanwu said, "Xiaofeng, you have now completed the Three Layers Mind Method. By rights, you should have enough strength to protect yourself underwater. However, we agreed to ensure that you truly learn how to survive beneath the waves. Therefore, what I will teach you next is how to awaken your abilities underwater.
Although there isn't much oxygen in the water, it is sufficient for breathing since there is so much seawater around. What you need to do now is use the Devour technique from the Three Layers Mind Method to sense the presence of oxygen in the water and absorb it. This process sounds simple but can be challenging; it mainly depends on your feelings. If your foundation in the Three Layers Mind Method is good, you might start feeling something in a few days. However, it’s also possible that it could take you years without any sensation. You should practice by going underwater."
With some confusion, Liu Guanfeng slowly walked back into the sea. Once he submerged completely, he found a stable stone to sit on and began his journey to seek oxygen beneath the surface.
Liu Guanfeng utilized the techniques he had practiced with the Three Layers Mind Method, drawing a significant amount of Fighting Qi from within his Dragon Pearl. It enveloped him like a protective membrane under his skin. At this moment, Liu Guanfeng gradually entered an unprecedented state.
He felt as if he had become a piece of seaweed in the ocean, swaying gently with the waves. Liu Guanfeng sensed that his surroundings were filled with water elements everywhere. After an unknown amount of time, a small amount of Fighting Qi returned to his right hand's ring finger. This tiny bead-sized Fighting Qi was not seawater but a small cluster of blue Water Attribute Fighting Qi.
Carefully, Liu Guanfeng integrated this small cluster of Fighting Qi into his Dragon Pearl. He wanted to see how this absorbed Water Attribute Fighting Qi would be processed by the Dragon Pearl; even if it disrupted his internal balance, this little bit of Fighting Qi would not cost him his life.
To Liu Guanfeng's astonishment, after this small amount of Water Attribute Fighting Qi merged into the Dragon Pearl, it immediately rushed toward the core of the Dragon Pearl where a small dragon had been coiled for a long time without moving. The blue Water Attribute Fighting Qi spun rapidly around the small dragon, its color gradually changing from blue to white before finally becoming non-attribute Fighting Qi like his other attributes.
During this process, the blue Water Attribute Fighting Qi gradually shrank; when it transformed into non-attribute Fighting Qi, it had reduced from a grain of rice to a millet-sized particle. Throughout this transformation, Liu Guanfeng distinctly felt a bit of oxygen separating from the Dragon Pearl and infusing into his Fighting Qi oxygen tank.
This surprise made Liu Guanfeng ecstatic because he had lost track of time while in this meditative state. He sensed that the oxygen stored within him could last for no more than two hours at most. However, after this discovery, Liu Guanfeng immediately issued commands to the non-attribute Fighting Qi beneath his skin. He saw numerous small clusters of Fighting Qi emanating from his ten fingers; after undergoing a similar process as before, not only did his internal Fighting Qi increase, but even the oxygen in his tank began to rise gradually.
This entire process lasted about an hour during which Liu Guanfeng felt a slight swelling in his abdomen as he continued to absorb external Water Attribute Fighting Qi. However, at this point, there was a significant difference compared to earlier.
The Water Attribute Fighting Qi swirling around the small dragon did not turn white as before but remained blue while shrinking considerably in size. It seemed as if this blue Fighting Qi had been given an eviction order; it left the Dragon Pearl and traveled back through his skin to exit his body along its original path.
Liu Guanfeng smiled, as he had always doubted whether he could maintain balance within his body after absorbing a large amount of Water Attribute Fighting Qi. It seemed that the little dragon's ability to convert Water Attribute Fighting Qi also had its limits. However, it was reassuring that if the little dragon reached its conversion limit, it would no longer convert Fighting Qi.
With this assurance, Liu Guanfeng dared to practice his Chaos Devouring technique on the sixth level. In fact, over the past few years, Liu Guanfeng had not made any breakthroughs in Chaos Devouring because he had been too afraid to practice. He worried that if he absorbed a large amount of unbalanced attributes, it might cause unnecessary harm to his body. After today's experiment, Liu Guanfeng felt confident; he knew that if he were on the sixth level now, he could fully master the Mind Method of Chaos Devouring.
Suppressing his excitement, Liu Guanfeng began to slowly assess the situation with his oxygen tank. After a period of effort, he found that he could still move freely underwater for two hours, nearly achieving a balance. Liu Guanfeng then initiated the next phase of his experiment; he wanted to see how much energy was stored in his Dragon Pearl.
Thus, Liu Guanfeng increased his absorption of oxygen. Although the Dragon Pearl could no longer assimilate Water Attribute Fighting Qi, there was still plenty of oxygen carried within it. Liu Guanfeng observed as the blue Fighting Qi passed through the Dragon Pearl and shrank before returning to the ocean.
Meanwhile, in the oxygen tank beside the Dragon Pearl, under Liu Guanfeng's nearly frantic actions, oxygen began to accumulate slowly. After more than an hour, Liu Guanfeng felt that the oxygen stored within him was sufficient for him to survive for another day.
At this point, Liu Guanfeng felt that continuing to rest underwater was no longer meaningful. After all, he had truly mastered the ability to survive underwater. Even when facing stronger opponents, Liu Guanfeng was confident that he could maneuver around them underwater since he could live like a fish until he chose to surface.
Liu Guanfeng quickly swam up towards the ocean's surface. As his head broke through the water, he distinctly felt a large amount of Fighting Qi penetrating into his body through the skin on his head. However, these Fighting Qi shared a common characteristic: aside from Water Attribute Fighting Qi, all four other attributes were present.
When Liu Guanfeng reached the beach, this sensation did not diminish; in fact, it intensified as these Fighting Qi began to permeate into his body through all of his skin. This feeling continued for an entire hour before gradually subsiding.
Liu Guanfeng clearly sensed an increase in the Fighting Qi within him. He smiled slightly; it seemed that what he had just experienced was indeed the Dragon Pearl actively releasing its devouring skill.
