Finally, the energy in the surrounding air stopped gathering, and the New Wolf King began to shimmer with Silver Light. The Wolf King Moshuo carried Liu Guanfeng straight toward the waterfall, where there was a small path behind it. Following this path led them to an entrance behind the waterfall. Sitting on Moshuo's back, Liu Guanfeng looked outside and felt like the Monkey King; he wondered what lay inside.
In front of Moshuo were several of its guards clearing the way. As Moshuo entered the cave with Liu Guanfeng on its back, its guards stood ready on either side while Moshuo slowly walked into the cave. After taking a few steps, Liu Guanfeng caught a faint fragrance wafting from within.
Liu Guanfeng took a deep breath and felt a wave of lightness wash over him. After walking about twenty meters further, the scenery before him suddenly changed. Before Liu Guanfeng appeared a massive stone chamber with a small rock standing in the center. On top of this rock was a green plant bearing two fruits—one large and one small. The shapes of these fruits were irregular but overall oval; the smaller fruit was golden in color while the larger one was milky white.
Liu Guanfeng dismounted from Moshuo. Looking at the fruits before him, Moshuo couldn't help but swallow hard. "Master, these two are the Original Fruits. The larger one is about to ripen while the smaller one is still growing. According to my father, this smaller Original Fruit will take at least another hundred years to mature, while my father said that the larger Original Fruit will be ripe in another year or two."
Liu Guanfeng nodded and said, "Alright, you can go out first. I will stay here tonight; tell your people not to disturb me. I will handle dinner myself."
"Yes, Master, I will take my leave now," said the New Wolf King before turning to leave the cave. Liu Guanfeng rested in the cave for a while and, seeing that no magical beasts had come to disturb him, took out a small bottle from his pocket. When Liu Guanfeng opened the bottle, a fragrant herbal scent wafted out. This small bottle was given to him by Zhuque before he left, who mentioned that it contained a Growth Potion she had concocted. She advised him that if he found any fruit that was not yet ripe, he should drop the potion onto the roots of the plant.
This way, the plant would directly absorb the nutrients from the potion and grow rapidly, so he needed to conduct the experiment slowly. Liu Guanfeng dropped two drops of Growth Potion onto the plant and quietly observed beside it. He noticed that the leaves of this plant were visibly growing, and many new leaves were sprouting. In just over ten minutes, the leaves had reached their normal size, and the fragrance emanating from the plant became increasingly intense. After about an hour, the large Original Fruit had grown even larger, and cracks began to appear on its skin.
Zhuque had once told him that when the Original Fruit reached this stage, it was already fully grown. The reason this fruit was called Original Fruit was that its growth resembled primordial chaos; when ripe, its skin would crack open and the flesh would fall directly to the ground, signaling the beginning of a new era. The initial cracking of the skin indicated that the fruit was mature enough to be used in medicine; if one waited until the skin completely cracked and the fruit fell off, more than half of its medicinal properties would be lost.
Seeing that the fruit was already mature, Liu Guanfeng quickly took out a White Jade Box he had prepared earlier and placed the fruit inside before closing it. He used the edge of the box made of white jade to sever any connection between the fruit and the plant. This type of fruit would immediately lose its medicinal properties if it came into contact with anything other than jade, such as gold, silver, copper, iron, or wood.
Liu Guanfeng carefully placed the jade box into his pocket and continued to wait for the second fruit to mature. When the first fruit matured, it seemed that the plant's growth slowed significantly. Noticing that most of the energy from the potion had been absorbed by the plant, Liu Guanfeng added another drop. After more than an hour, this lone fruit also began to show cracks. Following his previous method, Liu Guanfeng harvested this second fruit and placed it into the jade box.
When Liu Guanfeng opened the jade box again, he saw both fruits lying quietly inside while the entire cave was filled with their fragrance. After closing the box securely, Liu Guanfeng looked at the small bottle containing Growth Potion; there seemed to be about six or seven drops left. He then turned toward the cave entrance and called out: "Let your Moshuo Wolf King come in; I need to speak with it."
After giving this instruction, Liu Guanfeng quietly waited for Moshuo's arrival since Moshuo had already informed him before leaving that it would arrange for several Seventh Tier wild wolves at the entrance who could easily understand Liu Guanfeng's intentions. After about a tea break's time, Moshuo walked in from outside. As soon as Moshuo entered, it caught a whiff of the fragrant aroma filling the cave and couldn't help but drool. Upon closer inspection, it noticed that only one plant remained on the rock surface while all fruits were gone; it realized that Liu Guanfeng had harvested them.
"Master, what happened to those fruits above?"
"I have already taken them."
"But those two fruits are not yet ripe."
"Come see." Liu Guanfeng opened the jade box; upon seeing both fully grown fruits inside, Moshuo was taken aback.
"Master, could these two be last night's large and small fruits?"
Liu Guanfeng nodded.
"But they weren't ripe yesterday, and the smaller fruits still need about a hundred years to mature."
Liu Guanfeng shook the small bottle in his hand. "What’s inside is something called Growth Potion. It's what allows the fruits to mature so quickly. I will pour the remaining potion onto this plant, and I believe it should bear fruit again. If it does, consider it your reward."
Upon hearing that Liu Guanfeng might help the Plant Growth produce fruit, Moshuo immediately nodded in thanks, feeling grateful towards Liu Guanfeng. Originally, Moshuo hadn't expected any more fruits to be shared with him, knowing that Liu Guanfeng's main purpose for coming was to obtain the Original Fruit.
After speaking, Liu Guanfeng poured all the remaining potion onto the plant. The plant began to grow rapidly but showed no signs of bearing fruit. It continued to grow until it reached twice its original size before stopping. Disappointment appeared on Moshuo's face.
At that moment, the plant suddenly produced flower buds, which bloomed, shed their petals, and then bore fruit. When all the flowers had fallen, two black fruits formed on the plant and began to grow slowly. The fruits changed color from black to red, then orange, gold, yellow, and finally silver-white. Moreover, these fruits were significantly larger than the original small ones.
Liu Guanfeng nodded. "It seems these fruits will take several decades to mature. You can distribute these two fruits."
Moshuo was left speechless; he hadn't expected the plant to bloom and bear fruit in an instant. With a few more decades until maturity, he could potentially reach the Ninth Tier. This gift was indeed generous. Once Moshuo regained his composure, he crouched at Liu Guanfeng's feet.
"Thank you for granting me these fruits, Master. I will do my utmost to serve you."
Liu Guanfeng smiled. "Just make sure your subordinates don’t leave Wolf Island casually. If anything comes up in the future, I will come looking for you."
"Yes, Master. I will ensure my subordinates are well-disciplined."
