Just a moment ago, Liu Guanfeng was leisurely fishing on the boat when he was startled by Little Black's shout. Before he could comprehend what was happening, he saw a massive figure. The Sea Beast was over twenty meters long, resembling a Python, but much thicker, with a diameter of about four to five meters. Additionally, it had a fish-like tail fin at the end of its body and something resembling a Squad Leader needle on its back.
At that moment, the Sea Beast was voraciously chewing on a delicious Lobster, while both xp and Little Black had already fallen into the water. Little Black leaped out of the water, looking at the Sea Beast in mid-air.
"A mere Eighth-Grade Beast dares to be so arrogant," the actions of the Sea Beast completely enraged this divine beast. Meanwhile, Liu Guanfeng surfaced from the water, watching his companion of over a month, the Lobster, become a meal for the giant Sea Beast. He felt quite annoyed and took out his Twin Iron Halberds from his Cosmic Bag. Looking up at Little Black in the sky, he said, "Brother, leave this little guy to me. I haven't fought in the water since I mastered my underwater skills; you and xp cheer me on from the side."
The purpose of this outing was also to help Liu Guanfeng gain experience. Since he had already spoken, Little Black could only say one thing: "Be careful," before diving back into the water.
Just now, Little Black's actions had startled the Sea Beast. However, when it looked up again, it found that the intimidating Black Beast had already submerged, and in front of it stood a human.
Although Liu Guanfeng was considered above average among humans, to the eyes of the Sea Beast, he appeared as a tiny figure.
Liu Guanfeng stared at the Sea Beast, and without hesitation, pulled out a throwing knife from his waist. With a flick of his hand, the knife flew towards the Sea Beast. Before it could react, it felt a chill under its neck followed by sharp pain; only then did it realize it had been ambushed by this human.
The Sea Beast immediately forgot about the black monster that had just threatened it and opened its massive mouth to pounce on Liu Guanfeng. As its enormous body moved, it created waves in the water while Liu Guanfeng took a deep breath and sank to the seabed.
Underwater, Liu Guanfeng quickly swam to the left. Just after swimming a few strokes, the giant head of the Sea Beast crashed down nearby—less than half a meter away from him.
Liu Guanfeng halted his movement while the Sea Beast continued to sink. He raised his Twin Iron Halberds and plunged them downwards. Two gashes appeared on the body of the Sea Beast.
In pain, the Sea Beast swung its tail forcefully at Liu Guanfeng. He quickly swam backward, but the massive tail created waves that pushed him back several meters.
As soon as he steadied himself, the giant head of the Sea Beast lunged toward him again. It was then that he noticed this creature actually had legs; there were six in total. Perhaps due to living in water for so long, its legs seemed mismatched compared to its body. The six legs were as thick as those of an elephant but only about half as long. This was why he hadn't noticed them earlier.
Now, the Sea Beast charged at him once more. Liu Guanfeng raised his halberds to defend himself. However, as it approached him, it swiftly turned around and struck at him with its tail fin. When its tail hit his halberd, it felt like being struck by a massive hammer; he was sent flying backward for over ten meters. At that moment, blood surged through him as he thought: this big little guy has incredible strength.
However, after sending him flying away, the Sea Beast wasn't unscathed either. While blocking with his halberds, he had positioned them in such a way that although he was knocked back, he also managed to inflict four deep cuts on its tail fin with his halberds.
This significantly reduced the speed at which the Sea Beast could move through the water. Nevertheless, it did not give up on attacking; it twisted its body and charged at Liu Guanfeng again. Anticipating its position, he performed a downward maneuver to evade its head but just as he prepared to strike at its abdomen, one of its short legs kicked against his halberd. Although it cut through that leg, his halberds were knocked aside by the impact. Following that blow came two more legs that struck against his body in succession.
Liu Guanfeng kicked deeper into the water. Fortunately, Liu Guanfeng had consumed Iron Skin Soup; otherwise, if it had been someone else, those two kicks could have seriously injured them.
Liu Guanfeng realized that his Twin Halberds were not very effective in the water, and swinging them created considerable resistance. The ability to injure the Sea Beast was solely due to the sharpness of the weapons; if he had used different weapons, he probably wouldn't have even been able to scratch the Sea Beast's skin.
At this moment, Liu Guanfeng put away one of his iron halberds and wielded the other with one hand while his left hand was freed. This was because Liu Guanfeng had a Sleeve Arrow specially crafted for him by Xuanwu on his left arm. The idea for the Sleeve Arrow came from Liu Guanfeng himself, and since Xuanwu understood such things, Liu Guanfeng quickly acquired another life-saving weapon, which he would indeed use today.
Each Sleeve Arrow could hold five arrows, and the arrowheads were personally crafted by Xuanwu. Their sharpness was undoubtedly among the best in the entire continent; even the sharpness of Liu Guanfeng's Twin Iron Halberds and Fang Tian Hua Ji could not compare to these small Sleeve Arrows.
When Liu Guanfeng was ready, the Sea Beast launched its next attack, revealing a mouth full of enormous teeth. Liu Guanfeng swiftly moved to his right to evade the Sea Beast's bite. Seeing an opportunity, Liu Guanfeng immediately raised his left hand and aimed at the Sea Beast's back before pulling the trigger. A Sleeve Arrow shot out with a splash, hitting the Sea Beast directly on its back. A spray of blood erupted from the Sea Beast as it turned around and saw that it had been injured again by that small human. Furious, it opened its massive mouth and charged at Liu Guanfeng, wanting nothing more than to bite him to death.
As the Sea Beast charged again, Liu Guanfeng pulled out a flying knife from his waist. He aimed at the Sea Beast and flicked his wrist; the flying knife flew out softly. Liu Guanfeng knew that this flying knife would have little effect. However, upon seeing Liu Guanfeng's action, the Sea Beast realized he was about to throw something—something that had previously caused it trouble on the surface of the sea. Consequently, it quickly turned to dodge aside. This was exactly what Liu Guanfeng needed; seeing that the Sea Beast dodged, he shot out another Sleeve Arrow, which also struck the Sea Beast.
At this point, the Sea Beast realized it might have been tricked. It turned around to bite Liu Guanfeng again, but at this moment, Liu Guanfeng stood firm in the sea with his left hand raised towards the Sea Beast. The Sea Beast couldn't understand why it was about to be eaten yet this human was still pointing at it. Just as it was puzzled, a Cold Light surged towards its face with a splash.
The massive head of the Sea Beast couldn't dodge in time and got hit by a Sleeve Arrow in its nose, causing it immense pain. At this moment, it finally understood that this human was not easy to deal with; despite using all its strength, it hadn't harmed him at all—instead, it had been wounded all over by this human. Now blood was pouring from every part of its body. Suddenly remembering that troublesome Black Beast from earlier, it glanced aside and saw that creature watching it intently.
At this point, the Sea Beast lost its earlier ferocity and immediately turned to flee into the deep sea.
"Trying to escape?" Liu Guanfeng sneered coldly as he watched the Sea Beast suddenly turn towards deeper waters. "You killed my two boatmen and damaged my small boat; escaping won't be so easy. You must leave behind your Core."
Liu Guanfeng exerted himself and chased after where the Sea Beast had fled, casually telling Little Black as he left: "Follow."
Although Little Black and XP were not beasts of In the Sea, both were extraordinary creatures. XP had already transformed into Water Attribute form, allowing it to swim freely in seawater while absorbing oxygen from In the Sea. Little Black, being a mythical beast from ancient legends, had mastered water evasion techniques as a fundamental skill; thus, it moved even more effortlessly in In the Sea than Liu Guanfeng did.
So when both beasts saw Liu Guanfeng pursuing ahead and received their orders, they followed suit.
The fleeing Sea Beast had its tail fin damaged by Liu Guanfeng's Twin Iron Halberds, significantly reducing its speed; this allowed Liu Guanfeng to catch up with it.
The Sea Beast continued to run desperately while Liu Guanfeng closed in little by little. When he got within about four or five meters of distance, Liu Guanfeng shot out his fourth Sleeve Arrow, which struck right into the tail of the Sea Beast.
The Sea Beast swung its tail forcefully in the direction of Liu Guanfeng, creating a massive wave that blocked Liu Guanfeng's advance. Taking advantage of this, the Sea Beast increased the distance between them once again.
After stabilizing his body from the impact of the water, Liu Guanfeng smirked at the Sea Beast and continued his pursuit. He wasn't sure how long he had been chasing underwater when he noticed the Sea Beast swimming up and down. Gradually, a cave-like opening appeared ahead, and without hesitation, the Sea Beast swam inside.
Liu Guanfeng didn't think too much and followed closely behind. The cave was dark, and he could only rely on his powerful spiritual sense to navigate, while Little Black and XP trailed closely behind him.
The cave stretched for several hundred meters, and by the time Liu Guanfeng saw light ahead, the Sea Beast had vanished from sight. Liu Guanfeng could only proceed cautiously, wary of a potential ambush from the Sea Beast.
As he swam towards the light, Liu Guanfeng finally emerged above the water's surface. Little Black and XP also poked their heads out. Not far from the water's edge was another cave, and they had now reached ground level. Liu Guanfeng, along with Little Black and XP, climbed ashore. Just as their feet touched the cave floor, a scream echoed from within.
Liu Guanfeng was startled and turned to Little Black. "Was that the voice of the Sea Beast we encountered earlier?"
Little Black nodded. "It seems there is an even more powerful beast in this cave. I can sense that its strength is on par with mine."
"Now that we're on solid ground, I believe the three of us should have a chance against it. Why don't we go in and take a look?" Liu Guanfeng suggested to Little Black and XP. He knew that XP would follow without question if he decided to enter, but he felt it was important to consider Little Black's opinion as well.
Just as Little Black was feeling anxious, a voice emerged from the cave: "I haven't had such fresh meat in a long time, especially not this much. Since you're all here, you might as well stay; let me enjoy a feast first." As soon as the voice faded, heavy footsteps echoed through the cave. From the sound of those footsteps, Liu Guanfeng could tell that whatever was coming out would be quite large due to the weight of its steps.
Upon hearing this voice, Liu Guanfeng immediately retrieved his Twin Iron Halberds from his Cosmic Bag and gripped them tightly. Meanwhile, Little Black and XP also prepared for battle; they understood that whether they could escape now was uncertain, but it would be embarrassing to flee without even knowing what they were up against.
The trio waited silently for the owner of the voice to appear as the footsteps drew closer from within the cave.
