The contestant drawn as Seventh was Fang Tianlong, while Number Four was a boy named Li Hongming selected from below. The subsequent matchups were Number Six Chu Jiang Tian against Number One Hong Tao; Number Three Zhang Yuru against Number Eight Fu Ziqiang; and Number Two Zhao Yue against Number Five Pei Langhai.
This method of selection was devised by Liu Guanfeng himself; he wanted to avoid any accusations of unfairness towards the Big Leader and also demonstrated his confidence in Zhang Yuru.
The first match was Fang Tianlong versus Li Hongming. Fang Tianlong wielded two large hammers. His hammers were not prototypes of Copper Bull but rather cylindrical-headed weapons. However, judging by their weight, it was clear that Fang Tianlong was indeed a White Tiger General.
Li Hongming's weapon was a long staff. Upon seeing that his opponent was Fang Tianlong, he shook his head repeatedly and began to feel intimidated.
Liu Guanfeng watched both contestants in the arena and realized that Fang Tianlong would undoubtedly be the victor of this match. Fang Tianlong raised his Hammer high and executed a Mountain Pressing Down move against his opponent. Li Hong gripped his iron rod tightly and pushed upward with force, performing a Forceful Block. The two weapons collided in mid-air, creating a deafening sound of metal clashing. Li Hong staggered back seven or eight steps before stabilizing himself.
Fang Tianlong, however, showed no signs of discomfort. After landing, he continued to swing his Double Hammer forward. From left to right, the Double Hammer swept towards Li Hong's waist. Gritting his teeth, Li Hong positioned the iron rod horizontally at his waist to take Fang Tianlong's attack head-on. The difference in strength was already apparent; Li Hong was sent flying by Fang Tianlong's strike and landed directly on the Arena. At this moment, Fang Tianlong did not pursue further but instead rested the Double Hammer on his shoulder, watching Li Hong.
Lying on the Arena, Li Hong looked up at Fang Tianlong with a bitter smile and said, "Young Master Fang is incredibly strong; I concede."
Seeing his opponent concede, Fang Tianlong stepped forward and extended his hand to help Li Hong up from the ground. "I apologize for any offense earlier."
"The Arena matches should be like this; Young Master Fang need not take it to heart."
In a harmonious atmosphere, the first match concluded with Fang Tianlong as the victor.
The second match featured Chu Jiang Tian and Hong Tao, both sons of Leaders and both skilled with dual blades. In terms of strength, both were upper Intermediate Knights, but Chu Jiang Tian had a slight edge over Hong Tao. This ensured that their battle would be evenly matched.
Chu Jiang Tian held his dual blades apart as he faced Hong Tao, who crossed his blades at his abdomen while looking at Chu Jiang Tian.
Chu Jiang Tian laughed heartily and said, "Hong Tao, it has been a long time since we last sparred."
Hong Tao nodded in agreement. "It has indeed been about three to five years."
"You lost to me by half a move last time; you must have been training hard these past few years?"
Hong Tao acknowledged with a nod. "Ever since I lost to you last time, I've been working tirelessly. I believe I won't lose to you again this time."
Chu Jiang Tian smiled and replied, "Then let me see your progress over these years."
"Be careful yourself," Hong Tao warned.
"Begin!" With Ma Xianglong's command, the two in the center of the Arena clashed.
"Watch my blade!" Chu Jiang Tian launched an attack first. His right-hand blade executed a powerful downward strike. Hong Tao swung his left-hand blade to parry it. As Chu Jiang Tian followed up with an Autumn Wind Sweeping Leaves move with his left-hand blade aimed at Hong Tao's waist, Hong Tao remained calm and used his right-hand Greatsword to deflect Chu Jiang Tian's Greatsword away.
After breaking apart Chu Jiang Tian's dual blades, Hong Tao turned his Greatsword, aiming the tip at Chu Jiang Tian's abdomen and thrusting forward. Seeing the dual blades aimed at his stomach, Chu Jiang Tian pressed his own blades against Hong Tao's Greatsword, preventing Hong Tao's attack from advancing. Taking advantage of the moment, Chu Jiang Tian spread his blades outward.
Hong Tao also used Chu Jiang Tian's momentum to leap backward, narrowly avoiding a strike. The back-and-forth exchanges drew cheers from the audience below, with Liu Guanfeng nodding in approval. In terms of martial arts on the Knight's continent, these two youths demonstrated considerable skill; their only shortcoming was a lack of techniques. Ultimately, if they did not develop new moves, their competition would come down to the depth of their power.
At this point, the two had fought for dozens of rounds. Although no victor had emerged, both frequently found themselves in perilous situations, indicating that both Chu Jiang Tian and Hong Tao had invested significant effort into their techniques. This made their encounters fraught with danger as neither knew when the other might suddenly change tactics.
In fact, it was Chu Jiang Tian who felt the most urgency. He had not anticipated that Hong Tao would be so difficult to deal with. Chu Jiang Tian swung his dual blades and leaped to strike at Hong Tao's head. Hong Tao raised his dual blades to block; when their Steel Blades clashed, he used the force to pivot and evade. Meanwhile, Chu Jiang Tian took two steps forward.
Just as Hong Tao thought Chu Jiang Tian had exhausted his moves, Chu Jiang Tian suddenly spun around and swiftly flung his right-hand Steel Blade. Due to their close distance, Hong Tao was caught off guard by this unexpected attack and shouted in alarm, "Not good!" He hurriedly swung his blade outward to deflect it.
At that moment, Chu Jiang Tian did not remain idle; he propelled himself forward with a powerful kick and charged at Hong Tao. As Hong Tao swung his dual blades to deflect Chu Jiang Tian's flying knife, he had yet to retract them when Chu Jiang Tian reached his side. On the back of one of Hong Tao's blades, Chu Jiang Tian struck down with his other Steel Blade.
Hong Tao's dual blades were already extended and he was now exhausted. With a forceful strike from Chu Jiang Tian's Greatsword, there was a clang as both blades fell to the ground, leaving Hong Tao without any weapons.
After knocking down Hong Tao's dual blades, Chu Jiang Tian sheathed his single blade behind him and said, "Hong Tao, your skills have improved."
Looking at his fallen dual blades on the ground, Hong Tao replied, "I lost, but I will continue to work hard."
Ma Xianglong returned to the center of the Arena and announced, "I declare the winner of the second match is Chu Jiang Tian."
Chu Jiang Tian held his swords aloft as he descended from the Arena, crossing the hilts in front of him and bowing deeply to the audience before turning to leave.
