Black Eagle looked at those who were shouting and said with a smile, "Are you still not convinced?"
"Of course we're not convinced! We four were among the first five to arrive. Why is it that he can stand in line while we are singled out?"
Black Eagle gestured with his mouth towards Little Black: "Let him tell you the reason."
Little Black shook his small head and approached the person. After looking at him, he spoke, "You have always been in the first group, but at the seven thousandth and third step, you started using Fighting Qi. You used Fighting Qi a total of four times, climbing forty-seven, thirty-two, twenty-six, and sixty-six steps respectively each time. Did I say anything wrong?"
After Little Black finished speaking, the Advanced Knight was instantly speechless. He had never expected that his actions would be tracked so precisely by a magical beast, and what was even more frustrating was that he hadn’t realized it himself.
Following that, Little Black approached the next Advanced Knight: "You used Fighting Qi three times to help yourself, each time over a hundred steps. You used it twice for a total of one hundred sixty-one steps. You, you, and you..."
Little Black detailed how each of the more than twenty selected Advanced Knights had used Fighting Qi, causing those knights to go from being unconvinced to lowering their heads in shame. Many could only remember how many times they had used Fighting Qi, but couldn’t recall how many steps they had climbed or where they had done so. However, this nameless magical beast remembered everything clearly.
However, one Advanced Knight was determined to argue back. Earlier, Black Eagle had mentioned that once singled out, they could no longer return to Starry Sect, so he decided to stand his ground for his future. The Advanced Knight looked disdainfully at Little Black: "You don’t even know what kind of magical beast it is. How could it possibly know that I used Fighting Qi? I see it as just a fifth-tier magical beast; what qualifications does it have to judge us Advanced Knights? Does that mean it's a divine beast?"
Black Eagle smiled at the Advanced Knight: "What do you think qualifies it to be your judge?"
"Unless you can prove it's a divine beast, I won’t be convinced."
"Then how do you want me to prove it?"
The Advanced Knight glanced back: "Since so many of us have been singled out by it here, I think if it really is a divine beast, defeating us shouldn’t be a problem."
Black Eagle did not dare to make a decision on his own, as there were nearly thirty Advanced Knights selected by Little Black. He turned his gaze towards Little Black, seeking his opinion.
Little Black stepped forward and nodded: "Since you want me to prove myself, that's easy. Anyone who has doubts about my judgment can step forward, no matter how many. I can also guarantee that if you defeat me, you will become a member of the Starry Sect. Is that acceptable, Black Master?"
Black Eagle laughed heartily: "Since you have spoken, then of course it counts. As long as you can defeat him, I will make an exception and accept you."
Little Black looked at the group of Advanced Knights in front of him. After glancing around, the first four Advanced Knights stepped forward collectively, followed by many others who wanted to take a chance. Slowly, all twenty-nine Advanced Knights selected by Little Black stood up, surrounding him with their weapons.
Little Black addressed them: "As long as you remain standing in front of me for one minute, you win. The last one standing can officially become my disciple. Get ready; I'm coming."
After saying this, Little Black unleashed twenty-nine bolts of lightning from beneath his feet, each striking an Advanced Knight accurately. The twenty-nine Advanced Knights felt a jolt in their legs and soon began to convulse from the electric shock, dropping their weapons. What followed was simple; Little Black kicked and knocked all the Advanced Knights down the stairs. Many of them only regained their senses as they rolled down the steps, and by the time they used their Fighting Qi to protect themselves, they had already fallen down several flights.
As they steadied themselves and prepared to return, they saw Little Black standing menacingly at the top of the stairs. Those Advanced Knights who intended to return all gave up.
One minute later, all the Advanced Knights had turned and walked down the stairs. Seeing that those selected had been easily defeated, the original troublemakers realized that if the Advanced Knights could be taken down so effortlessly, what right did they have to act arrogantly? Thus, they obediently stood aside. Many were clever enough to kneel before Black Eagle: "Please, Black Master, give us another chance. We promise we won't break the rules again; we earnestly request your forgiveness."
Hearing someone take the lead, the rest quickly knelt down as well, pleading for another opportunity. Black Eagle nodded: "Seeing your sincerity, I will allow you to come back next time we accept disciples. However, this is your only chance; if you break the rules again, you will never be allowed to enter my sect."
"Yes, yes! We won't dare next time."
"Get up." All those selected stood up and quietly watched the upcoming arrangements.
Next, Black Eagle began examining the bones and other aspects of those chosen. Liu Guanfeng and Zhang Diba assisted him; however, all selections were ultimately made by Black Eagle, as disciples were his responsibility.
Finally, after much consideration, Black Eagle decided on his first batch of disciples. At Liu Guanfeng's suggestion, he announced that all remaining Advanced Knights would be accepted as his inner disciples because Liu Guanfeng mentioned that having more disciples in the first batch was beneficial, especially since a newly established gang needed people to manage it, and those Advanced Knights were the best candidates for management.
On the first day, there were already twenty-three disciples accepted as Advanced Knights. Liu Guanfeng referred to these twenty-three individuals as the "Twenty Third Sons" of Stellar Radiance. The numbers of Intermediate Knights, Junior Knights, and Apprentice Knights remained unchanged.
At this moment, someone raised an objection. Black Eagle reiterated Liu Guanfeng's explanation to them, and they had no further doubts. Although they could not become inner disciples, there was still a chance for them to enter the inner circle from the outer ranks. Additionally, they would not have to take such a bizarre exam again next time.
After selecting the disciples, Black Eagle instructed them to line up according to their ranks, with the inner disciples at the front and more outer disciples standing behind.
At this point, Black Eagle stood before everyone and announced the rules of the Starry Sect. These rules had been drafted by Zhang Diba and Liu Guanfeng. They included severe penalties for betraying the sect, punishment for bullying the weak, and expulsion for causing death through oppression. In total, there were nearly a hundred rules.
Following Liu Guanfeng's method, these rules were inscribed on a large stone, which stood at the top of the over nine thousand steps. Anyone who climbed this peak would be able to see the rules above.
After reading out the rules, Black Eagle continued: "I want to thank two people for my position as the leader of Starry Sect today. The first is our Majesty, who gifted me this mountain and funded the construction of our sect. I would like to express my gratitude for His Majesty's generosity."
Everyone below said in unison, "Thank you for Your Majesty's generosity."
Zhang Diba then walked over to Black Eagle's side and nodded at all the students in front of him: "This is what I should do. You are all the hope for our new world's future. I only hope that one day you can contribute your strength for our people."
After a round of loud applause, Zhang Diba returned to Liu Guanfeng's side. Black Eagle then continued: "There is another person I must thank—President Liu Guanfeng of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce. Without him, I would not have been able to establish this sect. He provided me with tremendous assistance during its founding. Today, I announce that Liu Guanfeng is the Grandmaster of Starry Sect, while I am merely the Second Sect Leader. From now on, every new member must bow and offer incense before Liu Guanfeng's statue."
Liu Guanfeng stepped forward and grabbed Black Eagle: "Black Master, what are you doing?"
"Liu Guanfeng," Black Eagle replied, "although you are much younger than I am, your martial arts skills far exceed mine. I have greatly benefited from being with you all this time. I know you are leaving; I won't keep you here as leader but will leave that position open for you. Just remember that there is still a sect here that belongs to you."
With that said, Black Eagle felt he could say no more. Liu Guanfeng stepped forward beside Black Eagle: "I just want to say one thing: I hope all of you will recognize that this new world is your home. For your families back home, you must work hard, and for those outer disciples behind you, strive to become inner disciples as soon as possible."
Another round of applause followed. Black Eagle led Zhang Diba and Liu Guanfeng to the square in front of the sculpture: "Grandmaster, you wanted to know what this sculpture is; please remove the red cloth together with His Majesty."
After Liu Guanfeng and Zhang Diba exchanged glances, one of them pulled down a corner of the red cloth. A sculpture appeared before them, depicting Liu Guanfeng holding the Fang Tian Hua Ji while riding a Black Qilin, with a Three-Headed Hellhound standing beside him.
Liu Guanfeng looked at it and thought, isn't that me? He turned to Black Eagle and asked, "Black Eagle, what does this mean?"
"I just want everyone to know that you are the first Grandmaster of our Starry Sect. Every disciple of the Starry Sect must pass your examination before they can proceed, and you will also observe them while they practice here."
Liu Guanfeng shook his head helplessly. "Fine, do as you wish."
Zhang Diba patted Black Eagle on the shoulder. "Old Black, we really think alike."
Liu Guanfeng looked at Zhang Diba. "Your Majesty, what do you mean by that?"
Zhang Diba smiled mysteriously. "You'll find out in a few days."
"Another one being cryptic."
Black Eagle looked at Liu Guanfeng. "Grandmaster, why don't you recreate this sculpture for us disciples to see? Some of them might never get to see you again after you leave."
Seeing how sentimental Black Eagle was being, Liu Guanfeng could only agree. He took out his Fang Tian Hua Ji from his Cosmic Bag, and Little Black transformed into a normal mount size. Liu Guanfeng jumped on top, and at that moment, his true form revealed itself as a Three-Headed Hellhound the size of an ordinary horse appeared before everyone.
When all the disciples saw how imposing the Grandmaster in the sculpture truly was, under the leadership of twenty-three Advanced Knights, all the other disciples knelt down on both knees. "We pay our respects to the Grandmaster; Grandmaster is mighty."
Liu Guanfeng shook his head helplessly and put away his weapon. Black Eagle then began arranging for the disciples to rest. The Apprentice Knights on the outskirts were all picked up by their respective parents, who also registered each child.
Liu Guanfeng, Zhang Diba, and Black Eagle returned to Black Eagle's room. In the living room, Liu Guanfeng discussed how the Starry Sect could make money and shared his suggestions while leaving behind a large amount of Gold and Silver as a legacy from the Grandmaster. Zhang Diba also presented a substantial amount of gold coins as a congratulatory gift.
After the discussion, Liu Guanfeng and Zhang Diba returned to the palace accompanied by a group of officials, while Black Eagle was staying at Stellar Peak.
Once back in the palace, Zhang Diba called Liu Guanfeng into his study. "Xiaofeng, I heard you're leaving. Do you have a date set?"
Liu Guanfeng nodded. "There are still some matters to handle with the Merchant Guild. I've decided to leave in three days."
"You're in such a hurry. Have you talked to Xiaoru about this?"
"Not yet. I plan to discuss it in a couple of days."
"Then I won't interfere. It's all up to you to handle."
"Rest assured, Your Majesty, I will take care of it."
"Alright, I won't disturb you any longer. You should go rest."
"Then I'll take my leave." With that, Liu Guanfeng turned and left Zhang Diba's study.
When Liu Guanfeng reached his room, he noticed a graceful figure pacing in front of his door. When the woman saw Liu Guanfeng, she gently said, "You're back."
